Bolingbrook, Ill. – Insisting that his wife left him for another man, Drew Peterson today offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to her safe return.

Stacy Peterson vanished six months ago.  Peterson says the night Stacy left him she told him on the phone that she was leaving.  He denies any involvement, but police maintain he is the prime suspect in her disappearance.

Peterson says he had hoped that by this time Stacy would’ve contacted him or their four children.  But she hasn’t.  He says he too can’t fathom why.

He says he hopes that this reward will bring her home.

“Her mom left her and it’s clear that history has repeated itself and that Stacy does not want to be found either,” says Peterson.  “I don’t know whom she left with or where they are.  Maybe the money will prompt someone to come forward with a lead.  Her children miss her and people believe I had something to do with her disappearance.”

Peterson acknowledges that as long as Stacy’s missing people will think he had something to do with it.

Police have offered no evidence supporting that theory.  Police and family and friends have searched area lakes and brush searching for her.

Peterson recognizes the criticism he’s received for not taking part in the searches.  But he says “I haven’t because I believe she’s alive.  She told me she was leaving.  She obviously doesn’t want to be found.”

The $25,000 reward is for information that leads to the safe return of Stacy, says Joel A. Brodsky, Peterson’s criminal defense attorney.  Brodsky says the reward money will be paid in addition to any other reward now being offered.

Information and tips should be sent to stacytips@yahoo.com <mailto:stacytips@yahoo.com> .  Brodsky says the tips will be opened and read by a team of investigators hired by Peterson, not by Peterson himself or his attorneys.  He says all legitimate leads will be forwarded to law enforcement authorities.

Peterson, a former police sergeant, has been the target of death threats even as he tries to raise his children on his own.

“All emails that contain harassing, obscene, or threatening messages are warned that such communications are illegal, and all such e-mails will be forwarded to law enforcement for prosecution,” says Brodsky.

Your thread – case discussion

April 28, 2008 gatehousechicago 96 comments

This thread is for everyone to discuss aspects of the Peterson case (e.g. grand jury, searches, Kathleen Savio’s death, Stacy Peterson’s disappearance, media coverage, etc…).

Any comment on this thread that does not adhere to these guidelines will be deleted. The previous post that contains most of the comments thus far will remain open for discussion on other topics.

We do not want to turn anybody away from posting on this site. But there must be a place for everyone to feel comfortable publishing their opinions.

Also, any bashing of others, especially those that are not commenting on this blog, will also be deleted.

These new rules are not meant, in any way, to hinder the discussion. However, the direction of conversation has focused almost solely on one topic and many are finding it difficult to bring up other topics. Certain aspects of the conversation have made this an increasingly hostile environment for some people wanting to post comments. This will not be tolerated.

You are free to disagree but please do so without personal attacks on other posters or on people from other forums who are not here to defend themselves.

The first comment you’ll see is a post by us with some of the case discussion that was started on other threads. This should help clarify what is, and is not, allowed on this thread.

Again, everyone is now required to register with WordPress before posting a comment.

The search for Stacy: Week in review

Sorry this is late folks. We’ll get back on the regular schedule this week.

Here’s the a look at some of the week’s developments in the Peterson case. Please note, updates are current through 2 p.m. Sunday. Please check back often for updates. you can also visit the Bolingbrook Reporter online at www.mysuburbanlife.com for the latest breaking news.

• Drew Peterson’s attorney filed an appeal Tuesday, April 22, requesting the court to reverse a Will County judge’s decision to reopen the estate of Peterson’s third wife Kathleen Savio. The judge’s April 17 decision removed Peterson’s uncle, James Carroll, as executor and appointed Savio’s father and sister as administrators of any new assets that come into the estate. Savio’s family had petitioned for the reopening in preparation for a possible wrongful death lawsuit against Peterson. Brodsky argued the two-year statute of limitations on filing such lawsuits has passed and that the Savio’s family’s petition does not meet the legal requirements for reopening an estate.
• On Wednesday, April 23, Brodsky said his client has legally transferred ownership of 11 firearms seized from Peterson’s home to his son Stephen, an Oak Brook police officer. Brodsky said he will file a motion within a couple of weeks asking the court to force state police to give the firearms to Stephen Peterson.
• Peterson and Brodsky appeared on MSNBC’s “Verdict with Dan Abrams” on Thursday, April 24. Peterson denied claims by several people that he was controlling and abusive to his wives and ex-fiancee. He also maintained his belief that Savio’s March 2004 drowning was an accident and that his missing wife Stacy Peterson is alive and with another man.

Hello everyone,

We just wanted to take a moment to talk about some of the discussion that’s been going on recently. We’re very happy to see so many people sharing their thoughts and opinions. With this much activity we decided now would be a good time to remind everyone of the rules governing comments. So far, nearly everyone has done a fantastic job of being respectful, even while being forceful. We did, however, have to delete a few comments in the last couple of days.

So take a moment to read over the rules and our Terms of Use provided below. We don’t want to hinder any discussion whatsoever, and 99.9 percent (not a statistical fact but you get the picture) of you have not violated these rules. But we want people to feel comfortable posting their thoughts. And remember, we don’t edit comments. It’s all or nothing. One inappropriate word or remark and we have to delete the whole thing.

Pool Rules
  1. Keep it clean.
  2. Stay on topic.
  3. Be honest and accurate.
  4. No personal attacks. Don’t bash anyone based on their race, creed, heritage, or orientation.
  5. Don’t say anything here you wouldn’t say in front of your mother at the dinner table.
  6. E-mail Danya at dhooker@mysuburbanlife.com if you see a rule violation (Don’t report comments just because you disagree.)

Participation in online discussion is subject to our Terms of Use. By commenting, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Drew Peterson loses bid to take back firearms

April 17, 2008 gatehousechicago Comments off

Drew Peterson’s right to have control of his property doesn’t outweigh the state’s right to retain possible evidence, a Will County judge said Thursday when he denied Peterson’s request to let his son Stephen hold onto 11 guns seized from Peterson’s home.
