Drew Peterson taken into custody

Drew Peterson was taken into custody at 5:35pm Thursday. State police blocked his car at Lily Cache Lane and Weber Road. He was in the car by himself at the time. Currently there are 6 state police searching his home.

He’s been charged with the murder of Kathleen Savio. Nick Savio was just on Fox news and he said ISP called his family and told them Drew had been arrested.

Note: I’d like to thank our sources for letting us know he had been arrested before there was anything on the news. I can’t tell you how scary it was to hit that “publish” button, but Rescue said “Do it!” and I did.

Drew Peterson was taken into custody at 5:35pm Thursday. State police blocked his car at Lily Cache Lane and Weber Road. He was in the car by himself at the time. Currently there are 6 state police searching his home. Fox Chicago will have exclusive video of the arrest at 9pm. …

  2. We have been waiting for this day for such a long time. I can’t imagine how relieved both the Savio family and Stacy’s family are.

I sincerely thank you for helping keep this case in the forefront and never losing faith.

My thoughts and prayers are with the children and the other family members of these two women.

  3. Channel 7 local news is reporting that he was arrested in connection with Kathleen’s murder.

DCFS is involved as far as his children are concerned.

  4. I heard as well that the kids are still in the house. Someone mentioned that Crissy’s kids are there as well, but I’m not sure.

  5. We’re so happy for you Theo1104. Maybe happy isn’t the word, but you know what I mean. (((hugs)))

  6. I’m so happy he was arrested but my first thought was how sorry I felt for those children.

I just spoke with Kerry and she said they were screaming for Joy in the parking lot when they heard.

  7. I have shivers running up and down my spine. The Savio family must be feeling so vindicated now. I am so happy Kitty has finally had her cries for help eard.

  8. Hi Everyone. It sure has been a while – But I’ve never really been far away. I can’t help but feel this is bittersweet.

While I’m glad to see him FINALLY arrested – My heart breaks for the kids.

Oh, And P.S. Love the new digs! Ok, maybe not so new. LOL

  9. ISP will be holding a news conference at 8:30pm.

“The charge right now is the murder of Kathleen Savio,” said Lt. Carl Anderson of the state police.”

  10. Hey Bucket. Me too! God I wish I could just watch the TV news on my work computer but I can’t.

This is the best news ever and I am so bloody happy for the Savio family.

After just a horrible miscarriage of justice five years ago, it must make this arrest all the more sweet.

RIP Kitty and happy mothers day to both you and Stacy.

  11. Bucket. Happy dance, heh?

Chrissy was just led from the house. The little ones were led away under tarps, earlier.

The police are moving things out of the house.

  12. He’s officially been indicted on a single count of MURDER of Kathleen Savio.!!!!!! MURDER.

  13. I had a quick squiz at what news reports I could access and I notice that there hasn’t been a peep from jowl LOL

  14. Shepard Smith just said that instead of visiting a cathouse Drew will be spending the night in the Big House.

  15. See, all the while we were doubting the authorities were doing anything (well I was doubting at times), they were working hard to get this in the can.

I recall the ISP intern saying on her blog a few days back, or maybe a week or two back, that she was working on something they were desperately trying to get in place by today. That must have been it.

THANK YOU to the grand jury for seeing sense.

  16. God Bless the States Attorney and God Bless
ISP and all investigators working so hard for so long to get to this point !!

  17. TAI, those poor kids are going to be so scarred it will take a hell of a lot of therapy to fix what has been done to them.

Lets all pray that their new home is going to be stable; that they will be under the care of some very, very understanding people who will do everything in their power to help these kids process what has happened to allow the kids to deal with it and come out the other side with a healthy mental outlook.

I wonder what poor Thomas must be thinking. He was so sure his dad was the good guy. Now he has to process the fact that not only was his mum murdered, but that ‘great’ dad of his did it.

  18. Fox reported that Peterson’s “attorney wasn’t aware of any arrest.”

Shep said, he should be by now!

Aw, they forgot to call Boobsky.

  19. I just heard that and couldn’t believe my ears. LOL

Earth to Joel! Will someone send him a tweet?

Oh My God, Can you believe this – LOL, LOL !!

  21. I can believe it. I am wondering if jowl boobsky’s interest will wane now. He knows the POS is guilty and he probably doesn’t want to waste his time and energy trying to defend him in court.

It was all good and well gadding about town like a couple of show ponies, hawking chicken wings, hitting on hot chicks and playing the celebrity to the hilt. There was no arrest. Now droopy is officially done for, my bet is jowl will back out.

Lets hope not though. A totally useless attorney like jowl is exactly who we all want to defend the pos in court.

    Peterson arrested on murder warrant

    May 7, 2009 6:47 PM

Former Bolingbrook police sergeant Drew Peterson was arrested today in the death of his ex-wife, Kathleen Savio, who was found drowned in an empty bathtub in March 2004, according to Will County State’s Atty. James Glasgow.

Authorities have scheduled an 8:30 p.m. news conference at state police District 5 headquarters near Joliet.

Will County state’s attorney’s office spokesman Chuck Pelkie confirmed Peterson was arrested about 5:40 p.m. during a traffic stop at Lily Cache Lane and Weber Road in Bolingbrook in connection with an indictment in the murder of Savio.

When reached early Thursday evening, Peterson’s attorney, Joel Brodsky, said he was unaware of the arrest.

“You know more than I do. I’m on a plane it’s taking off in 5 minutes to go to NYC. I guess they’ll have a bond hearing Monday,” he said…

  25. Kathleen’s sister and dad should have clear sailing to get control of Kathleen’s estate now that “the thing” has been arrested, and I am sure they’ll waste no time uncovering a lot of skullduggery. Uncle Carroll going to have some explaining to do. He and a few others and they know who they are…

  26. hey all…I have news from a reliable source that there is more to come…watch the news on Thursday…national will be fine, don’t know what time on Thursday but keep your eye open on FOX, HLN etc etc

it’s about time…but it’s done…and I hope like Hell that no judge grants him bail

it’s a sad mothers day for these women and their kids but their children are safe now…and justice will be served!!!!!

  27. Writerofwrongs: We’re going to be watching for the Illinois Supreme Court to rule that they will NOT hear the appeal.

  28. You know more than I do. I’m on a plane it’s taking off in 5 minutes to go to NYC. I guess they’ll have a bond hearing Monday

Perfect. Now we get to see this silly man self destruct.

Next stop for Drew: County jail, not Reno

    May 7, 2009
    BY BRIAN STANLEY bstanley@scn1.com

JOLIET — Drew Peterson was reportedly set to fly to Reno, Nev., on Friday to discuss working as head of security at a brothel featured on an HBO reality series.

Instead, he’ll likely spend the weekend where he’ll only be allowed to watch basic cable if he’s on his best behavior with the staff and other guests.

After the former Bolingbrook police sergeant was arrested on murder charges Thursday evening and questioned at state police District 5 headquarters, he was booked into the county jail.

A car brought Peterson inside the sallyport on the facility’s north side. Once the garage door closed, the door that passes into the receiving area were opened.

Like a performer hitting a mark for the camera, he was told to stand over the shoeprints painted on the floor and given a patdown. The suspect then moved over and was uncuffed to put his palms against the handprints on the wall for a more thorough search, followed by a walk through a metal detector.

Resembling a visitor to Grauman’s Chinese Theater, the arrestee was then brought to another set of handprints and shoeprints at the booking window and asked for his name and other basic information before being returned to the wall on the far side of the room for a photograph.

The items from his pockets were set on a piece of cardboard with his name written on it and sealed with cellophane by a machine.

As an identifying wrist band was prepared, Peterson was given a quick examination by a nurse on duty.

Deputy Chief Jerry Nudera, who is in charge of Operations and Security at the jail, said an inmate’s attitude determines what happens after that during the booking process.

“If somebody’s being cooperative, they’re taken to a common area where they’re able to watch TV from a bench, while the paperwork is started,” he said.

If an inmate is being combative or disrupting the staff or the few other inmates waiting in “the bullpen” they’re placed into one of 13 holding cells, which resemble large phone booths along the wall.

At this point a correctional clerk asks the suspect for more information, including how to contact a spouse or family members in case of an emergency.

“Someone who has an outstanding warrant, or has been charged with homicide for example, would be changed over from the clothes they had on into a green ‘intake’ uniform,” Nudera said.

Peterson was expected to spend the night in the jail’s classification pod. The “E” pod, is designed to house 48 inmates, but jail staff is currently double-bunking that section.

However, the pod has the only recreation area that is not currently shut down as the staff prepares to begin housing inmates in the recently completed $70 expansion wing of the jail in the next few weeks.

Today, Peterson will then be brought to appear on television. He’ll be formally arraigned over video broadcast to the courthouse.

    Peterson arrest thrills Savio’s family

    May 7, 2009

    By JANET LUNDQUIST jlundquist@scn1.com

Years ago, when officials determined her sister Kathleen Savio’s death was an accident, Anna Marie Doman never thought she’d see Drew Peterson held responsible.

    But that day came Thursday.

Doman said she had heard rumors of Peterson’s imminent arrest before, but did not get her hopes up.

“When Henry (Savio) called, I’m like, say it again. Say it again,” Doman said. “I wish I could call Kitty (Kathleen Savio) up. Anytime something big happened, that’s who I’d be calling.”

Authorities arrested Peterson Thursday evening near his Bolingbrook home for the murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio, according to police sources.

Savio, 40, was found dead in a dry bathtub in her Bolingbrook home in March 2004.

At the time, Illinois State Police failed to find anything suspicious and her death was ruled an accidental drowning by a coroner’s jury.

After Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy, then 23, disappeared in October 2007, officials reclassified Savio’s death as a homicide and gave the state police another opportunity to figure out who did her in.

“We have been waiting, how many years? After all that time of people not believing us, not responding to us. Nothing being told to us. There’s nothing else you can do. Then all of a sudden, I’m like, thank you,” Doman said. “I hope they’ve got all their ducks in a row. (Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow) is my idol, I gotta tell you.”

Savio’s nephew Charlie Doman said the family’s phone started ringing off the hook as word of Peterson’s arrest spread.

“We knew it was coming, it was just a matter of time,” he said, adding that his family planned to be at Drew’s court appearances.

Peterson wasn’t named a suspect in Savio’s death, but state police determined the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, is a “potential homicide” and say he is a suspect in the case.

Reached by phone shortly after Peterson’s arrest was reported, Pamela Bosco, a spokeswoman for Stacy Peterson’s family, said they had dreamed about Peterson’s arrest.

“We anticipated the day, we had been patient waiting for it for what seemed like forever,” Bosco said. “We’re in full support of the Savio family. We’ll patiently wait again as this unfolds.”

Bosco said the new development gives them hope they will get answers about what happened to Stacy.

“We always said the one thing that they had in common was Drew Peterson.”

  55. Three kids present in the home went to BBPD, transferred to DCFS.

Stephen Peterson was contacted to take custody.

  56. Greta speculates that ” the thing ” may be indicted for Stacy’s murder within a few days…

  57. Glasgow: “Violence against women is not a laughing matter as you’ve seen it treated in this case.”

  58. “At the time of Peterson’s arrest, his main attorney, Joel Brodsky said he was on his way to New York and could offer no comment.

Later, however, Andrew Abood, who is also 1 of Peterson’s attorneys, issued a statement saying Peterson has steadfastly maintained his innocence in Savio’s death. Abood called suggestions that Peterson may have been involved in the death merely “rumor and innuendo.”

Abood said that although Peterson is disappointed that he was indictted, he looks forward to proving his innocence in a court of law.”

And I hope that motion is denied! He only has himself to blame if he thinks the jury pool will be tainted. HE did the tainting!

Oh this is a wonderful day. I watched the arrest video and there was a man laughing his head off in the background, about 1min15secs in. Obviously somebody who was as happy as we are to see the arrest.

  62. JAH, it’s absolutely mind boggling isn’t it? I guess that is why it is taking so long. I had to keep reminding myself this isn’t an episode of Law and Order, that justice takes time in real life.

I watch Forensic Files and Cold Case Files all the time and often the wheels of justice grind slowly. But they get there in the end. I have no doubt justice will be served for Stacy as well.

Three cheers for the Grand Jury YAY YAY YAY

  63. They just showed video of them taking the little kids out of the house by holding blankets around them to block them from the media. I felt like crying. They shouldn’t have even put that on the news.

Does anyone think it is ironic that Drew happened to be driving Stacy’s car when he was arrested? Maybe it was her way of having a little hand in his arrest…

  64. Ernie Raines just on Larry King. He said Chrissy called him crying and hysterical becasue she had been taken into custody as well and they wouldn’t let her back into the house to get her belongings or the kids’ clothing.

He spent last weekend with them and the two of them were planning a Vegas wedding for the beginning of June even though Drew had yet to obtain a divorce.

The shot of the kids walking under a sheet was pretty heartbreaking. Was that to protect them from the cameras or to keep them from being frightened of all the cops and press? Either way, it looked miserable.

  65. I’m sorry, TAI, but Drew Peterson and his revolving door have done more to harm those kids than seeing them shielded and being led out of their house.

    Enough of that!

  66. Drew is the focus. Drew is the murderer. Drew took the mothers away from four children. Drew is to blame. Drew forged documents. Drew stole money.

  67. TAI, I think they were just getting Chrissy out of the house. I don’t know if she was taken anywhere or just removed from the premises.

  68. Rescue – I fully understand that Drew is 100% the one that did these kids wrong but it still bugs me that the news adds more salt into their wounds. I’m not disregarding what he has done in any way, shape, or form.

  69. Ernie Raines just on Larry King……………….
    ***********************
I hope the “Raines stunt” will come out in all of this.
I still think there is some “Selig” to that whole deal.

  70. Hey, at least they waited until Drew was out of the house before they made the arrest. They did that to spare the kids. How many families get breaks like that?

  71. facsmiley Says:

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Well Christina, that’s obviously one of the disadvantages of hanging out with a double murderer/murder suspect.

It’s not all engagements, puppy dogs or a Las Vegas wedding (!!)

  72. I don’t think the police did anything to harm the kids – it was the media.

I’ll reserve my comments and opinions on that to myself. It was just my honest reaction that kids get the short end of the stick no matter who their criminal parent is.

  73. Maybe they searched Chrissy to make sure Drew didn’t give her anything if he figured out the shoe was ready to drop.

  74. I just look at it as if those kids are being rescued from a burning building. Those ISP officers are removing them from the clutches of the man who murdered their moms and it’s a good thing.

  75. Christina can go stick it up her bum. I’ll reserve my sympathy for the children and Stacy and Kitty’s extended families.

  76. In Australia the kids would have been sheltered do to media privacy laws surrounding kids. If they weren’t sheltered, our news outlets (well, the ethical ones) would have pixelated their faces on the TV and in photos.

I’m glad they took him while he wasn’t at home and the kids didn’t have to see that.

  77. I know they were facs, and I think that’s great. I posted too quick for my brain LOL. I was meaning to add that it looks like similar laws apply all over the western world when it comes to kids in the media.

  78. I’d run off to soccer. :)

And as much as I hoped this day would come … when I saw your headline … I didn’t believe it.

  79. What a day, What a day! I am very happy for the Savio’s that justice may finally come for Kathleen, and their family! I was away at work till almost 830 tonight when I heard the news. I must say I had to pull over get out of my car and started jumping for joy that he will finally pay for what he has done. What he has done to Stacy, Kathleen, and them children is unforgiveable. I hope he gets jailed for life where he belongs so he will never hurt anybody else again. I hope he is away for life so that his children might have some kind of a normal life. Let’s pray all pray Stacy is found soon so that she may be able to rest in peace, get some kind of justice, and her family can begin to heal as well. WOOOO HOOOOOO took them long enough, but was well worth the wait to see this day come!

    Lorie

  80. Joel says they are going to get the bail lowered. He did some research and the only bond near that amount in Will County before was Kevin Fox (who was accused of raping and murdering his own daughter). That bail was 2 million.

Another legal anlayst on LKL said it was pretty crazy high…but we’ll see.

  81. He looks as arrogant in the booking photo as he does most times on TV.

He’s a narcissist & this is all a big joke to him, I’m sure he thinks he’ll be cleared.

Narcissits feel they can do no wrong, that is, in their own mind! He can justify the murders, as they deserved it! See how that flies with a jury!!!

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

That is a lot of chicken wings and burgers.

Joel doesn’t have that sort of money squirelled away anywhere either.

Best he can do is $ 30.000 – LOL

  83. It’s about time. I can only imagine what this very thorough investigation will uncover. The brodskys and seligs of the world need a good looking at too, along w/ the corrupt judges, law enforcement and politicians.
    God bless those kids.
    Shine on Stacy and Kathleen!

  84. lol what a laugh Joel saying Drew would never be arrested. Him and Drew one of a kind. It is of no wonder they clicked the way they did. I hope after all is said, and done Joel is disbarred and no longer allowed to practice law in the state of Illinois. Joel has done, and said plenty of things that was way out of line, and unethical.

  85. Facs, Rescue, just want to give a big thanks to you guys for doing such a great job keeping this story out there in the public eye. Drew Peterson’s Criminal Defense Team: ‘Indictment Does Not Mean Guilt’

The defense lawyers representing Drew Peterson express outrage over the $20 million bond. They insist their client will be vindicated in court.
    thepublicityagency.com – May 07, 2009

(PRNewsChannel) / New York, N.Y. and Chicago, Ill. / The defense team representing Drew Peterson, the former Bolingbrook police sergeant arrested today for the murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio, says he will be vindicated in court.

“There is no evidence that links Drew Peterson to the death of Kathleen Savio or anyone else for that matter,” says Joel Brodsky, lead criminal defense attorney for what promises to become the newest ‘trial of the century.’ “Drew did not harm Kathleen, he has said so from day one. We’re obviously disappointed a grand jury indicted him. But an indictment does not mean guilt.”

Brodsky’s co-counsel includes his law partner Rheem Odeh and Andrew Abood from the Abood Law Firm of East Lansing, Michigan. They say they will ask the court for a speedy trial and are confident that prosecutors will fall far short of proving a homicide was committed–let alone that Drew did it.

Savio’s remains were exhumed just days after Peterson’s current wife, Stacy, disappeared and police reopened the investigation into her death. Savio was found dead in a bathtub in 2004, just days before her divorce from Drew was finalized.

Results from an independent pathologist ruled the death a homicide. Stacy is still missing. Peterson says he believes she ran off with another man and this week sought counsel from a prominent Chicago divorce attorney.

Peterson has denied any involvement in either case and has done several extensive, high-profile interviews: NBC’s ‘Today’ show, CBS’s ‘The Early Show,’ and ‘Larry King Live.’

Brodsky expressed outrage over the $20 million bond set for Peterson.

“I will work to get that reduced,” says Brodsky. “That is incredibly excessive.”

As for the formal charges against Peterson, Brodsky points out that an indictment is not evidence of guilt, and that every defendant who has ever been found not guilty was initially indicted.

“Every juror in Illinois is reminded by the court that an indictment is simply a document that constitutes a formal method of charging a defendant,” says Brodsky. “In this case, as in every case, the judge will make it clear to the jury that an indictment is ‘not evidence that a crime was committed by the defendant.'”

“Prosecutors will need to prove Drew Peterson is guilty in court, and they can’t because he didn’t do it.”

So, they just indict for fun do they jowl? Keep talking clown! I truly hope that Jowl is going to be the defence attorney in court. It was probably going to be a slam dunk case for the prosecution in any case, but with Jowl at the helm, it’s practically a given.

  90. I read on whereisstacy that an attorney called Michael something or other said that drew’s personality, antics and the crap that came out of his mouth over the past 18 months will convict him.

    Hear hear.

  91. Me too noway. It’s such an astronomical amount, a figure he can’t possibly reach, it’s like they are thumbing their noses at him saying “ok you can apply for bail…here’s the amount. Try find the money sucker”.

    Brilliant.

  92. BTW – Does anyone know where Drew was going when they intercepted his vehicle just down the road ??

  93. he met chris at the car, took the keys and took off being tailed by isp ? chrissy came in the drive shortly after, sounds to me like she tipped him off about the squads and mabey film crew and he lead them away from the house for his kids sake, or to not let sharon have the satisfaction to see him be arrested. wonder if steve .C will help bail him out?

  94. I just heard Sharon say she went down to that intersection but did not actually see Drew arrested.

I’d like to think he had his kids on his mind and that’s why he left the house — to save them from seeing him arrested.

  95. well see there, how would sharon know to go to the intersection? it must have been very obvious to him and the neighborhood it was happening, mabey they called and gave him the choice to leave the house? well guess that will all come out .

  96. Haven’t really followed lately, but I do know that Dobrich wished to thank the private sector as stated in the press conference.

I specifically say, THANK YOU to:
    – Sharon
    – Roy
    – FSP
    – Lenny
    – Paula
    – Mouser

Those are my personal heroes in the quest for justice for Kathleen & Stacy.

To everyone else who has has justice for these women in mind, thank you as well.

Facs, Rescue, please, I bow to your awesomeness.

    Press on for justice!

  97. Q: Drew, do you think you will ever be charged with the murder of Stacy Peterson?

A: I would hope not. Mr. Brodsky doesn’t believe so. So. I hope that don’t ever happen.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I just want to bring this over from yesterdays comments on Mancows show as with to-days events this has become more relevant now too !

Notice how Drew goes along with Stacy being MURDERED and even goes as far to say Joel Brodsky doesn’t believe he will ever bve charged and he himself “hopes” it will never happen (!!)

Why go along with someone being “murdered” and “hoping” to never be charged if that never happened in the first place ????

Isn’t the above another confirmation and admission ??????

    *********

It was TOM that came home in the car and gave his father the keys. KRIS is 14 years old, he doesn’t drive.

ISP went to Chrissy’s place of work and told her to go back to the house and get her kids.

As for Sharon not getting the satisfaction of seeing him arrested? Come on, now, the man was arrested for murder, and he’s worrying about Sharon not getting satisfaction?

  100. I can’t imagine him leaving to be arrested down the street for the sake of his kids.

    He is not that considerate.

JAH, a good defense lawyer could find a way out of that. But fortunately, Drew does not have one.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Too right noway, a good defense lawyer would never let his client go on a radio show unsupervised and be gas bagging to his hearts content in the first place (!!)

  102. Getting married in Las Vegas in June?

    1) He’s divorced and we haven’t heard about it;

    2) She’s just plain nuts;

    3) She plays the part of fiancee but is really a plant.

    Pick one.

  103. JAH, you are correct.

I truly can’t think of one good think that jowl advised his client to do. Every single stupid appearance and stunt was done with boobsky right by his client’s side.

Personally, I am very glad that JB is a crap lawyer. Just makes the prosecution all that much easier.

  104. phewew, so sorry bout the kids names mix up, and all that was reported is that chrissy pulled in the drive, didnt give the details that you know NOW, thats why we are posting here, trying to get info, and i think his ego would get in the way of being arrested in his immediate neighborhood.

  105. Idahotrix – no problem. We try to be accurate here, informative and on topic. We all want to see justice, and this is a good start.

  106. I think Drew knew nothing about the upcoming arrest as if he did he would have deliberately stayed home with the kids for a shoot out (!!)

I think he was innocently going down the road somewhere, that’s why I’m asking if anyone knew where he was going (!)

  107. We could speculate forever. And in the end, I’m not sure that it matters where he was going — unless he had his passport, his speedo, and $25,000 cash.

  108. tonight i made my first ever comment here after many many months of reading, last words for me before the verdict, hats off to staceys family tonight for cancelling the conference, today was kathleens day, staceys day soon to follow.

  109. One of Peterson’s attorneys, Andrew Abood, said the indictment was not a surprise.

“There was tremendous pressure for the government to do something in this case,” Abood said. But he said one of Peterson’s sons with Savio has “provided a lock tight alibi” for his father, who faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted.

    ***************

Hmmm. He was 11 years old, 5 years ago, yet, Abood said Peterson’s son has “provided a lock tight alibi?

    Here it starts.

  110. I think the best part of that arrest video was when that one cop ripped DiP’s sunglasses from his face.
    Drew Peterson
    Taken down
    Finally

  111. idahotrix:

Good thing to point out. Stacy’s family has always been considerate of others through all of this, especially, Kathleen Savio and her family. They are good people and should be commended for their ability to take a backseat and not participate in the circus around all of this.

There will be justice for Stacy.

  112. The reason I’m asking where Drew was going is based on the fact this arrest would have been methodically planned for quite a while.

ISP would have had to know (or plan) Drew was going somehere on his own at around 5.30 pm and be laying in wait at the intersection.

I’d like to know whose trap it was Drew fell into so innocently (!!)

  113. Abood fits perfectly on that defense “team” They are going to be taught. Big time!

  114. JAH, I read that the ISP saw that Drew left the house and moved in at that time out of concern for safety of the kids.

  115. Um they have the damn tub, that say a lot, you don’t just gank someone’s tub out of their house. Just saying.

Down, down baby yo’ street in a Range rover.

  116. There was a plan in place. Sometimes, things don’t work out precisely as planned, but there was no doubt he was going to be arrested while alone, in his car, away from his house.

  117. Rihanna – “Take a Bow” Lyrics

How about a round of applause
    A standing ovation

You look so dumb right now
    Standing outside my house
    Trying to apologize
You’re so ugly when you cry
    Please, just cut it out

    [Chorus]
Don’t tell me you’re sorry cuz you’re not
Baby when I know you’re only sorry you got caught
But you put on quite a show
    You really had me going
But now it’s time to go
    Curtain’s finally closing
    That was quite a show
    Very entertaining
    But it’s over now
Go on and take a bow

Grab your clothes and get gone
You better hurry up before the sprinklers come on
Talkin’ about, girl, I love you, you’re the one
This just looks like the re-run
    Please, what else is on

    (Chorus)
Don’t tell me you’re sorry cuz you’re not
Baby when I know you’re only sorry you got caught
But you put on quite a show
    You really had me going
But now it’s time to go

  118. Per the Press Release:

“Brodsky’s co-counsel includes his law partner Rheem Odeh and Andrew Abood from the Abood Law Firm of East Lansing, Michigan. They say they will ask the court for a speedy trial and are confident that prosecutors will fall far short of proving a homicide was committed–let alone that Drew did it.”

    ***

I think the prosecutors knew that Drew’s defense team would ask for a speedy trial which is probably why they took extra time to do a full investigation and not rush the charges. This could backfire for Drew as sometimes the jury pool is less tainted when it takes a year or more for a murder trial to take place.

  119. Oh please, I can’t believe they are going to drag that poor child (tom) into it by forcing him to give his father a false alibi!

I doubt anyone will actually believe it.

  120. Shouldn’t an 11-year-old be asleep in bed at night in their own room and not sitting up and babysitting his dad to make sure he stays in the house the whole night??

I think the key piece of evidence would be Stacy and Drew’s cell phone records showing that Stacy was trying to call him during the time that she had previously given him an alibi. Drew needed Stacy as his alibi.

  121. I beleive that the heresay law here will apply as Neil Schlori will testify what Stacy had confided in him about kathleen’s murder and how Drew came home that night with a bag full of women’s clothing that he washed in the washer.

    Sick. Sick. Sick.

Drew is not getting out of this one.

  122. TAI, I suspect you are probably right. Cell phone records to prove Stacy was trying to call him, just as she told Neil Schori.

The jury should be able to see through Tom’s alibi statement for what it is; a poor kid desperately trying to help his dad.

  123. Isn’t it ironic that he needed Stacy to be his alibi, and yet his getting rid of her is what brought him down. If Stacy hadn’t disappeared Kathleen would still be considered to have died accidentally.

Kitty and Stacy are probably hi-fiving each other on the other side right now.

  124. does anyone know the next steps in the procedure after the bond hearing? how long does the defence have to plan their case before trial begins? when will the trial date be decided? just wondering, want to start planning my work scheduale now around the trial.

  125. Sorry, that reply above was to this post:

  126. idaho – the defense has a right to a speedy trial. 120 days. That doesn’t mean there won’t be delays, but that’s the target time line.

  127. These last few months have been some of the most enjoyable I’ve had since embarking on this adventure into the blogosphere. Sure, some of it has come from Rescue and I taking over the reins on this blog and the security that comes with it, but mostly it’s from having such a great group who post here and such excellent feedback and info brought here.

The last seven weeks have been tough for everyone, and I’m really grateful for the encouraging emails that we’ve received – almost always when we were at our lowest points. People have been wonderful in showing their support and helping out behind the scenes, even people who don’t post here.

Thanks everyone for sticking this out with us. The day we’ve been hoping for took a long time to get here – but it got here.

  128. Here’s what I found on timeline for a speedy trial – apparently it is different if you are out on bond or held in jail awaiting trial. Looks like 120 days if the defendent is in custody and 160 days if he makes bail.

    Defendants in Custody

A defendant who is in custody waiting for trial must be brought to trial within 120 days of the date he or she is taken into custody. See 725 ILCS 5/103-5. A defendant in custody does not have to demand a speedy trial in order to start the speedy trial clock. However, a defendant in custody may stop the speedy trial clock if he or she asks the court to regard continuances as motions of the defendant.

    Defendants on Bond

A defendant who is released on bond must be brought to trial within 160 days of the date he or she demands trial. See 725 ILCS 5/103-5. A defendant on bond, unlike a defendant in custody, must demand trial in order to start the speedy trial clock. The demand must be in writing, must be clear and unequivocal, and must be served on the State. Once the demand is served, the following day is considered day number one out of 160. A defendant who was previously in custody and then released on bond may add the days in custody to the days on bond, but only by filing a speedy trial demand immediately upon release which references the days in custody.

  131. For the Record-State’s Attorney Press Release:

“JOLIET – Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow and Illinois State Police Captain Carl Dobrich announce that Drew Walter Peterson was arrested today (Thursday, May 7, 2009) after a Special Grand Jury issued an indictment for first-degree murder alleging he killed Kathleen Savio five years ago.

At the request of State’s Attorney Glasgow and Illinois State Police detectives, Circuit Judge Daniel Rozak issued a warrant for Peterson’s arrest Thursday afternoon. Judge Rozak set bail for Peterson at $20 million. He must post 10 percent or $2 million to secure his release while awaiting trial.

Illinois State Police arrested Peterson without incident late Thursday afternoon during a traffic stop at Weber Road and Lily Cache Lane in Bolingbrook.

The two-count Bill of Indictment alleges that Peterson, on or about Feb. 29, 2004, “without lawful justification and with the intent to kill Kathleen Savio, caused Kathleen Savio to inhale fluid, thereby causing the death of Kathleen Savio.”

Kathleen Savio, who was Peterson’s third wife, was found dead in her bathtub on March 1, 2004. Charges were not filed in the case five years ago by the prior state’s attorney who held office when Kathleen Savio was murdered.

Glasgow reopened the case and convened a Special Grand Jury to investigate her murder in November 2007. The Special Grand Jury also is investigating the disappearance of Drew Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy Peterson.

Drew Peterson is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 8 in courtroom 405 at the Will County Courthouse, 14 W. Jefferson St., Joliet.

The Will County State’s Attorney’s Office reminds the public that an indictment is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.”

  132. I can’t get any of the video feeds on my work computer. I can’t wait to get home and turn on Fox News! It’s the only US news cable channel we get. I think GVS is repeated again at 10 or 11pm our time.

  133. The only person that chews gum bigger and faster than Drew is Cindy Anthony during her deposition with Zenaida Gonzalez’s lawyer.

  134. Thank you, rescue. I bet you are right!

This is just such AWESOME news.

I watched the presser and they said that they had 330 registered leads with 8500 pages of written evidence in Kathleen’s case. Then they mentioned the 791 registered leads and 40,000 pages of evidence in Stacy’s case. If that doesn’t show the depth and perseverence of their investigation, I don’t know what would! No wonder this has taken 18 months to get an indictment.

What incredible professionalism the ISP has shown throughout this entire ordeal. Not a single leak from any of them, that I can recall.

This monster put a huge stain on the integrity of law enforcement officers everywhere.

I hope that every one of the people involved in these investigations is able to finally rest tonight, knowing that their contributions assisted in putting this man behind bars where he belongs.

Their battle is not over yet, as they are still working on Stacy’s case, but at least they can move forward now knowing that there will not be any more victims by his hand.

God bless the Savio and Cales families. This is the beginning of their justice.

May God hold those children safe as they try to live with the horrible legacy their father has left them. My heart aches for them.

  135. Woo, I was just thinking about all of this. Murder charge, pending wrongful death suit, probate estate fraud, prime suspect in the disappearance/presumed death of his wife…..

As word of the impending arrest spread through the media, a throng of reporters gathered outside Peterson’s home. He tinkered with his motorcycle through the afternoon, yelling to the crowd of reporters that he wasn’t about to be arrested. They should all go home.

I think it’s on here at the moment as well, our time, which is currently 3.48pm. It will be repeated a few more times over the next 24 hours thank goodness.

  141. Oh, gawd, hasn’t Brodsky done enough for his client. He’s been wrong, wrong, wrong, so far, and now he’s going to wing it solo?

Well, on the other hand, good. He’s unprofessional, he stinks as a lawyer, and his unadoring public will have even more reason to dislike him and/or his client.

But, that’s what lawyers do. Babble, yap, twist, turn and gobble words. And this is the King Putz.

  142. I wanna see some lovin’ for Lenny & Paula, they risked a lot to do what they did, and they are big heroes in my book. They need some lovin’, give it up.

  143. Didn’t Drew make that same “I should have returned those library books” comments when he was arrested on the weapons charges?

He needs to get some new lines.

Maybe this would work for him: “Bubba, go easy on me, I’m an old man now.”

  144. Didn’t he just this morning (Thursday that is) say he wasn’t going to get arrested today to reporters gathering outside his house ??

    LOL, LOL !!

  145. Oh, thanks for finding that, noway.

I knew it was something stupid that came out of his mouth back then–I just figured it was more of the same.

  146. You know, I bet that a LOT of people will start coming forward now with information that he is locked up. I am sure that if anyone had knowledge of anything that he has done, they were probably scared witless about speaking up.

With him behind bars now, hopefully, they will feel safer in telling what they know.

  147. Rescue, I have no doubts about that. He was an abusive tyrant in his home, and I am certain that trait spilled over to the street.

  155. Good Morning All,

I’m out of town, but when I rec’d the call from my wife, I let out a scream. All I can say, “it’s about time”, but we still have a long way to call. Heard Brodsky saw he didn’t hear from his client, makes me a bit nervous.

Also, when I saw the the two young children lead out of the house under the blue plastic, tears rolled dwon my face. Hard to believe that Steven was allowed to pick them up, but at least they are out of the house.

  156. Good morning, everyone. Have a wonderful day.

LOL, be prepared. It’s going to be Joel Brodsky kind of day. Flying solo. ;-)

  157. Hey, Bucket. Well, I have a feeling that once the next few days are over, we won’t be hearing much from Brodsky. Not that he’s professional or ethical, but I really can’t imagine him going on the media circuit once the details come out about the facts and evidence. Right now, he’s just making noise. It’s his “job.”

  158. Joel Brodsky was on Fox News this morning via phone. In a nutshell, he’s in New York and NOT coming back until after this weekend. He’s got some legal analysis thingy he’s doing, and he is going to celebrate Mother’s Day with his wife in New York. He said, at this point, an extra day or two isn’t going to make a difference for Drew while he’s in jail. HA HA.

Three different legal commentators I heard this morning either smirked, smiled, or just plain said he SHOULD be flying back for his client.

Priorities, priorities. Drew isn’t one of them as far as Brodsky is concerned.

  159. I have always thought that Drew was looking for a sucker to represent him pro-bono until his real trial at which time he would hire a real attorney. Just my thought anyway. It’s difficult to imagine JB being a part of such a high profile case…the Baffoon being represented by the punk throwing rocks in the cage and jabbing sticks at the animals. You couldn’t write a better comedy!

  160. Hi Facsmiley….

I just wanted to stop in and say “HI”

I thought of all of you who were on the Find Stacy Peterson site.

I’m sure everyone is as elated as I am over Drew’s indictment! It’s been a long time comin’.

    Hugs to you all!

    Friend (aka Cloey, aka Jurorthirteen)
