• Two days after the six-month anniversary of his wife’s disappearance, Drew Peterson offered a $25,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to her “safe return.” The reward, announced Wednesday, April 30, could be claimed in addition to the $35,000 being offered by Stacy Peterson’s friends and family. Drew Peterson said he offered the reward because he thought his wife would have come home by now. Peterson said he believes Stacy is still alive because she called him the night of her disappearance to tell him she was leaving him for another man.
• On Thursday, May 1, Stacy Peterson’s father Anthony Cales testified before the grand jury investigating the disappearance of his daughter, the fourth wife of former and Bolingbrook police officer Drew Peterson, and the March 2004 drowning of Peterson’s third wife Kathleen Savio. Cales said investigators asked him general questions about the Petersons’ marriage and whether his daughter ever left her children. Cales said Stacy Peterson never went anywhere without her children and that he was unaware of any marital problems. Although Stacy Peterson called her father every day, Cales said she tended to keep personal matters private.
• Also Thursday, Peterson’s neighbor and Bolingbrook High School Principal James A. Mitchem Jr., and his teenage son testified before the grand jury. They declined to comment on the testimony. Mitchem’s son is a friend of one of Peterson’s children with Kathleen Savio. The boy stayed at Mitchem’s home in the days after Stacy Peterson’s disappearance.

Sorry this is late folks. We’ll get back on the regular schedule this week.
Here’s the a look at some of the week’s developments in the Peterson case. Please note, updates are current through 2 p.m. Sunday. Please check back often for updates. you can also visit the Bolingbrook Reporter online at www.mysuburbanlife.com for the latest breaking news.
• Drew Peterson’s attorney filed an appeal Tuesday, April 22, requesting the court to reverse a Will County judge’s decision to reopen the estate of Peterson’s third wife Kathleen Savio. The judge’s April 17 decision removed Peterson’s uncle, James Carroll, as executor and appointed Savio’s father and sister as administrators of any new assets that come into the estate. Savio’s family had petitioned for the reopening in preparation for a possible wrongful death lawsuit against Peterson. Brodsky argued the two-year statute of limitations on filing such lawsuits has passed and that the Savio’s family’s petition does not meet the legal requirements for reopening an estate.
• On Wednesday, April 23, Brodsky said his client has legally transferred ownership of 11 firearms seized from Peterson’s home to his son Stephen, an Oak Brook police officer. Brodsky said he will file a motion within a couple of weeks asking the court to force state police to give the firearms to Stephen Peterson.
• Peterson and Brodsky appeared on MSNBC’s “Verdict with Dan Abrams” on Thursday, April 24. Peterson denied claims by several people that he was controlling and abusive to his wives and ex-fiancee. He also maintained his belief that Savio’s March 2004 drowning was an accident and that his missing wife Stacy Peterson is alive and with another man.

• On Thursday, April 3, Peterson’s former fiancee and ex-wife both appeared before a Will County grand jury investigating the March 2004 death of Drew Peterson’s third wife and the disappearance of his fourth. Kyle Piry, who was briefly engaged to Peterson in the early 1980s, confirmed she testified Thursday but declined to comment further. Shortly after, Vicki Connolly left the grand jury proceedings but declined to confirm whether she testified. Connolly and Peterson were married for 10 years, starting in 1982. She said she left him when she found out he was having an affair with Kathleen Savio, who would become Peterson’s third wife.

A team of volunteers searched two areas near the Illinois and Michigan Canal in Joliet. Although search organizers said they did not find anything groundbreaking, they said state police, the FBI, and a tip line all led them to that area. Volunteers will meet again this weekend to continue the searchers. Those interested in volunteering will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 5 at the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Center, 200 Lindsey Lane.

Bolingbrook, IL -Here’s a look at some of the week’s developments in the Peterson case.
•Drew Peterson’s mother and stepfather testified Thursday, March 20, before the grand jury investigating the death of their son’s third wife and the disappearance of his fourth. Al and Betty did not discuss their testimony.
• A hearing to determine the fate of 11 guns seized from Drew Peterson’s home was postponed, the Will County state’s attorney’s office announced Monday, March 24. A Will County judge recently ordered state police to return the guns, along with other items seized during a Nov. 1 search of Peterson’s home. A day after the order, state police revoked Peterson’s right to possess firearms, rending the judge’s decision moot. Peterson’s attorney Joel Brodsky later asked the judge to allow Peterson’s son, an Oak Brook police officer, to hold on to the guns. The hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, March 25, and has been rescheduled for April 17.
•Stacy Peterson’s family announced Wednesday, March 26, that they will renew searches for the missing Bolingbrook mother this weekend. All volunteers are asked to attend a training session at 9: 30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Center, 200 Lindsey Lane, and must present a valid state identification card. Weather permitting, searches could begin Saturday and Sunday and will continue every weekend.
• Also Wednesday, the group, Friends of Stacy Peterson, announced it will hold another fundraiser May 10 at Ditka’s Sports Dome in Bolingbrook. All proceeds will go toward continuing search efforts. Additional details will be released at a later date.
• The independent pathologist for Will County that recently ruled Kathleen Savio’s death a homicide, testified before the special grand jury investigating her death and Stacy Peterson’s disappearance. Dr. Larry Blum performed the autopsy in November after authorities exhumed her body. Savio was found drowned in her Bolingbrook home’s bathtub March 1, 2004.

Here’s a look at some of the key developments in the Stacy Peterson case over the last week:
• On Jan. 4, it is first reported that the village of Bolingbrook will provide legal counsel to Drew Peterson in his defense against an excessive force lawsuit. The village lawyer said the village is required by law to provide all police officers with lawyers in such cases. The lawsuit claims Peterson and two other officers used excessive force during an arrest. The police department said they have a videotape proving Drew Peterson was not involved in the incident.
• Drew Peterson was reportedly on vacation with his children in Florida until last weekend. On Jan. 6 he received a letter from an anonymous writer who claimed he/she saw Stacy Peterson in mid-November in a Kentucky parking lot. The writer also claimed to have taken a picture of her and contacted a sheriff’s deputy about the incident.
• On Tuesday, the Kentucky sheriff’s office said they had no record any contact between a deputy and a person claiming to have just seen Stacy Peterson.
• Also Tuesday, the Amazing Kreskin, a well-known mentalist announced he would like to meet one-on-one with key people in the investigation. Kreskin said he thinks his abilities might help lead to a break in the case. Illinois State Police said they welcome any information Kreskin can provide. Joel Brodsky, Drew Peterson’s lawyer, said he would be glad to meet with Kreskin but would not let his client meet with him without legal counsel present.
• Despite waning media covering, Illinois State Police assured that the Peterson investigation remains a top priority with up to 80 agents working on the case at any given time.
• Looking ahead, friends and family of Stacy Peterson will hold a birthday vigil on Sunday, Jan. 20, the day the missing woman will turn 24. The event will start at 4 p.m. at Living Water Community Church, 190 Lily Cache Lane, in Bolingbrook.

Here’s a look at some of the developments in the Stacy Peterson case that made headlines this week.
• Friends of Stacy Peterson held a fundraiser Friday, Dec. 28, to help defray the costs of the search. Lead organizer Patrick Loome, a high school friend of Peterson’s, said the event drew about 250 people and raised about $2,000.
• On Monday, Dec. 31, Kathleen Savio’s family launched a Web site in her name hoping to gather information about her death. Savio, the third wife of Drew Peterson, was found dead in her bathtub in March 2004. Her death was ruled and accidental drowning in May 2004 but investigators exhumed her body when Peterson became a suspect in his fourth wife’s disappearance. The results of a second autopsy have not been released. Savio’s half-brother Nick Savio and her sister Sue Savio Doman set up the site.
• The Amazing Kreskin, a well-known mentalist, offered to help in the search for Stacy. Kreskin said he will release a statement on Monday, Jan. 7, detailing how he plans to help. So far, Illinois State Police have said they do not plan on accepting Kreskin’s offer to work with them.
• Anna Doman, also Savio’s sister, said Thursday she had nothing to do with the Web site created by her sister and half-brother and questioned its validity. Nick Savio and Sue Savio Doman said they launched the site to gather information and to raise money that will go toward battered women shelters.

Here’s a look at some of the developments in the Stacy Peterson case that made headlines this week.
• Sharon Bychowski, Drew Peterson’s neighbor, awoke Wednesday, Dec. 26 to find dozens of photos, a map and a letter claiming Stacy Peterson was buried in a cemetery. Illinois State Police investigated the incident and said the bizarre material appears to be the work of an obsessed and mentally unstable man.
• The Associated Press ranked Peterson’s disappearance No. 5 on its 2007 list of top stories in Illinois-. Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign ranked No. 1 while former Illinois Gov. George Ryan’s prison sentence ranked second, the state’s budget impasse ranked third and electric rates ranked fourth.

Drew Peterson and his neighbors have some breathing — and parking — room now that the media tents and vehicles have packed up and left the cul-de-sac near his home on Pheasant Chase Court in Bolingbrook. Despite the waning media frenzy, developments continue to surface in the search for Stacy Peterson, a 23-year-old wife and mother missing since Oct. 28.
Here’s a look at the major news of the week:
• Rev. Neil Schori dismissed claims by Drew Peterson and his attorney Joel Brodsky that he and Stacy Peterson had a “connection.” On Dec. 10, Schori told Greta Van Susteren of Fox News that Stacy Peterson told him in August that her husband had admitted to killing his third wife, Kathleen Savio. Brodsky appeared on MSNBC the next day and told host Dan Abrams that he had “heard rumors that there was some connection” between Schori and Stacy Peterson. Schori said the claims were false and slanderous.
• A Will County judge on Monday denied a request by Drew Peterson to regain possession of certain items seized by police Nov. 1 as part of a search warrant. The judge allowed Peterson to take back several CDs and an iPod, but the state will retain 11 guns, computers and two vehicles — a 2005 GMC Yukon Denali and a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix.
• The Bolingbrook Police Department denied the accuracy of a report published by MyFox Chicago on Wednesday saying Drew Peterson was involved in a police brutality investigation. Timothy Brownlee, 35, of Bolingbrook, is reportedly suing the village and Drew Peterson alleging that Peterson broke Brownlee’s thumb while he was processed for a May 28 arrest. Bolingbrook police officials said they have video of the incident proving Peterson was not involved and was not on duty during the incident.
• State police called an end to their search of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal in Romeoville on Wednesday. Investigators will continue the search in other locations and did not rule out the possibility of returning to the canal.
• Drew Peterson’s former friend Richard Mims testified Thursday before a grand jury in Will County. Mims had been staying with Peterson after his wife disappeared and was on the board of a Stacy Peterson charity. He quit the board last week after he sold his story to the National Enquirer.
• A taped interview with Drew Peterson and MSNBC correspondent Hoda Kotb is scheduled to appear Friday night.

• Divers continued to search the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal near Romeoville looking for clues of the missing woman.
