  1. Since it’s quiet, I’ll just paste this quote from Brodsky about his approach to media in the defense of his client. I find it interesting.

” …in these rare cases, the media and its influence is in the courtroom and jury room. Therefore, the media must be addressed and engaged in these extreme cases. Examples: (1) Scott Peterson did 3 short tv appearances (I wouldn’t call them interviews) before he was named a suspect and then he remained totally silent. He was convicted. (2) Robert Blake and Michael Jackson both did media interviews. Michael Jackson even produced a TV special on his case to counter some bad publicity, and Blake did an interview from his jail cell without his lawyer present as well as other interviews. Both these men were acquitted. I could go on for a long time on this issue, as well as spell out the problems that my clients media appearances before I came into the case created, and how our media strategy addressed these issues, (one for example which I call the white noise effect), but suffice it to say nothing we do is hap hazzard, or done for publicity or to satisfy some psychological need of my client. A good lawyer thinks like a chess player, looking 5 to 10 moves into the future for each move he does now. I am a good lawyer.”

  2. Good night facsmiley. I’ll re-read this in the morning. Can’t see straight now.

Just that the lawyer thinks he’s good making white noise. We’ll have to wait and see, huh?

  3. I posted this at the end of Tuesday’s thread, so am bringing it over to Wednesday’s thread, because I think it’s a good point of discussion.

Does anyone know whether the neighbor who saw DP and unknown man is believed to have seen DP and TM?

    *******************************

I believe it was reported that a neighbor saw Drew and an unknown man move a barrel or container from the garage to Drew’s Denali the night of October 28th.

I’ve noted that this neighbor hasn’t been interviewed by the media, nor have there been any further reports – a grand jury appearance by so and so, the neighbor who witnessed Drew and an unknown man move a container the night of Oct. 28th.

I’m wondering if that neighbor is someone LE is withholding information on? Maybe LE told the media to back off on doing any media interviews of this neighbor, for his own protection.

When you think about it, this neighbor can corroborate Tom Morphey’s account, and therefore would be a crucial witness.

  4. I beleive that initally the media did try to interview the neighbors to determine who it was that reported the sighting. However it would be in their best interest for their safety and for the case not to reveal themselves.

At the beginning of this case ,if you remember, DP was acting mighty strange including being outside his house yelling Sharon’s name. She called the police and while they were there he was in her backyard yelling at her.

  5. If I remember correctly it was reported that 2 men were seen loading a barrel. I don’t recall the report ever specifying that Drew was one of the 2 men, but one was reported as “olive-skinned”.

  6. I read that Joel denied that Drew kept large amounts of money in the house (the $25,000 Stacy allegedly took with her).

He gave the payment of Drew’s bail of an example of Drew not having money laying around.

But wouldn’t it raise a red flag if Drew *had* paid with cash? Even $7,500 laying around is a large amount of cash to me.

  7. Noway-are you the same noway from the FSP forum? Just curious bcause I wondered where everyone went to after the forum closed.

As for the bail, seems he’d have his son bail him out with the $250k he transferred to him in the beginning right?
Joel must have forgotten Drew’s original story. You know, if he would tell the truth he wouldn’t have to keep track of what he says.

  8. chiefgirl – that is sooooo true about telling the truth, and not having to remember the lies.

My mother used to drum that into our heads when I and my siblings were younger. If you tell a lie, you’ll have a hard time remembering what you said.

  9. Chief, I think originally Drew gave Steve that $250k from a line of equity on the house. According to Brodsky, he did that because he didn’t want Stacy to be able to access it, but then he later put it back – probably on legal advice from the team (since Stacy is still co-owner of the property, he couldn’t legally deny her that money).

I’m not sure he has access to any large sums anymore.

Supposedly, they had to cash his paycheck in order to get the $7.5k to post bail.

  10. “Joel must have forgotten Drew’s original story. You know, if he would tell the truth he wouldn’t have to keep track of what he says.”

I thought that’s what he had us for!

Nothing gets past us, mister ” I was sick labor day” brodsky.

  11. Does anyone know how I would get in contact with any members of the committee for FoSP? Attny Gen, IRS and SoS still don’t have info on the non-profit. I think the committee should be alerted.

  12. Kimmer, all I’d know to do is email them via the website but I know you’ve tried that already.

You could always post something on all the boards you can think of, but that would be pretty spammy, especially if there were no FOSP board members there.

Maybe email the owners of the various boards and blogs and let them handle it how they want to, if they want to.

  13. I posted something on the sym site this am as I was annoyed at the criticism of the purpose of the grand jury, lack of evidence and related strategy of the SA. So I found a good resource that explains the ILL/US purpose of grand juries. May I share?

“”The Fifth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States mirrors colonial esteem by providing that “no person shall be held to answer for a capital or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury.”

The Constitution and laws of Illinois provide that no person shall be brought to trial for a crime punishable by death or by imprisonment in the penitentiary unless either the initial charge has been brought by indictment of a grand jury or the person has been given a prompt preliminary hearing and a judge has found probable cause.””
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    my comment on above was:
It is also a way to gather massive amounts of testimony, yes, and evidence, for the prosecution to which the defense is not yet entitled (nor joe “exlaw” public). Therefore you have NO idea how much evidence they have or don’t have, unless you’re in there.

It is also a way to delay a hearling; if one is arrested prior to the GJ convening, the accused is entitled to a hearing within 30 days, if indicted by a GJ it is 120 days. Why wouldn’t any prosecutor want the latter? As Joel reminded us, R Kelly has taken up 6 yrs of our time.

There’s a lot of homework to do; investigating the stacy disappearance, savio murder, the savio fiasco, the savio will, the BBPD computer records, realtionship to known felons, prior domestic abuse charges, on and on and on plus just gathering history on the suspect.

I think it is all part of the strategy, and what we hear is only the tip of the iceberg.

  16. Kimmer, they actually have their own mailing address. How about sending a registered letter?

    Postal address:
    Friends of Stacy Peterson
    PO Box 1112

  17. I’m suprised they didn’t try to take up a collection with “free drew” signs just so they didn’t have to tap into his pension. 🙂
I thought it was from the $$ he got after Kathleen’s death.
Did Joel forge Drew’s name on that check too? Seems like it wouldn’t have been an issue if he had over 200k in his account.
    Oh well..

  18. facsmiley // May 28, 2008 at 12:30 am

Resuce just that Brodsky says this is a “hint”:

“The prosecution in the gun case against Drew Peterson forgot about 18 USC 926B. Federal law prempts(sic) all state law when it comes to police officers and what firearms they can possess.”

I don’t see how Brodsky is saying that this law pertains to Peterson’s case when it appears all the law states is that it’s OK for an LE officer to carry a concealed weapon. I don’t see how it makes it OK for him to carry an illegally modified weapon which was never registered with his department.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I found this very interesting too Facs, and posted the entire law. It plainly states no machine guns, and also that the gun had to be meet the standards of the agency. Don’t think an illegal weapon will meet the standards, do you? Surely Brodsky read the whole thing, and I hope he has a better defense than this. There’s quite a bit in this law that would seem to prohibit Drew from owning this weapon. Link is below.

  19. Kimmer, we’re aware of what Amanda is being told (a few of us do read here). However, we’ve also checked and been told our paperwork HAS been received and our processing fee has been cashed. We actually just received another letter from the IRS this week telling us what items are still needed for everything to go through. So it’s moving along. We’re not sure why Amanda is being told they don’t have anything. Maybe because she doesn’t have the ID number that the committee was assigned for calling for updates? Maybe the ID # makes it easier for them to look up.

  20. Funny, if DP is charged soon for either of the fates of his two wives, it should be interesting who will have to put up their houses for bond money. If he had to give back the equity line money (which I didn’t know about, facsmiley), he’ll sure have to set up another “free Drew” website.

  21. SIS – I, for one, have no use for the IRS! I’ve had to deal with them regarding my elderly mother, and there was a point that I talked to six different people and got six different answers!

There is a reason why the IRS makes it clear that if you’re given advice from the IRS directly when doing your tax return, and it’s later determined to be incorrect, it’s still your responsibility to pay any fines and penalties. They won’t even give you a break for advising you incorrectly. Now, that’s our government working on our behalf, isn’t it?

    ————————–

why do think I was getting annoyed!! No really I’d say there is a pretty good mix most of the time. And being the debater I am, I try to hear both sides just to get into their heads. So many kinds of people, and that is what would be on a jury.

A lot of ex cops on site maybe, and most of the cops I know become fairly cynical. Goes with the territory. I don’t mind a good cynic.

  23. Good post, Liz.

It is good to remember that as involved as we feel with the case through following it in the media and discussion boards, there is only so much we can know, and even the things we think we know could be false or only partial truths.

It’s our hobby to debate this stuff and form opinions and ‘research’ but it’s really only a virtual version of the real story. Only LE and the people involved can know what’s really going on.

I would hope that they take as long as needed to fact-find and build a case that will stand up in court.

  24. Rescue, it’s ridiculous, isn’t it?! We’re told the application is in the “fast track” pile yet it’s been over 5 months and still waiting!

  25. But I did ask Joels there about when and for what purpose was DP’s last encounter with Bindy Rock.

I think the only person you would share murderous details with is another murderer. Not TM or MR. DP was accused of trading drugs to share the ID of undercover cops with Bidny, who were working to bust bindy. What gives with that?

  26. Here’s the legal definition for ‘machine gun’ as mentioned in the code:

    ” (b) Machinegun
The term “machinegun” means any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more
than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger. The term shall also include the frame or receiver of any such weapon, any part designed and intended solely and exclusively, or combination of parts designed and intended, for use in converting a weapon into a machinegun, and any combination of parts from which a machinegun can be assembled if such parts are in the possession or under the control of a person.”

Could you provide that ID #, as we’ve been trying to verify using the name? Is there a secret number they specifically gave you or allow you to use? If not here, you can click my name and email to me. We’d like to get any accurate or correct possibly inaccurate information out to our board so we can resume donating/supporting.

  28. lizanne – did he give an answer to the question regarding Rock? Because, at the time, DP suggested he had no clue as to why Rock was subpoenaed to appear before the GJ. Would you think there’s something in phone records that shows DP was in contact with Rock?

Another reason to lose his FOID card.

There was a Chicago Police Department Superintendent, Matt Rodriguez, who was friends with a shady character at one time, some years ago. I’d have to look up the details about that, but I believe he resigned over it. Doesn’t look good to be a good guy, hanging out with the bad guys.

I’m not surprised at all. I took a look at the steps involved in even filing for the status and I wanted to stomp my feet and cry.

It looks like bureaucracatic torture at its worst.

  30. cfs, facs,

I looked up that law too and I don’t think it applies at all, it’s about conceal carry. The illegal use charge was based on it being modified. And if their search warrant turned up a silencer (modification made it fitted for attaching of suppressor or silencer ).

And if they find he is not in good standing or loses his pension, then he no longer has conceal/carry rights for any gun. (that’s the only thing that I could find that applied to him in this law).

    SUch a jokester, that JB.

  32. Sorry, incomplete sentence up there,

“If the warrant turned up a silencer……., then he would not be entitled to the gun for that and it being modified.”

  33. I’m done with Brodsky’s Q&A. He may not know Labor day from Memorial day and he may not know how to spell the word ‘later’ but he’s terribly good at deflecting a question and managing to say nothing or even contradictory answers when it suits him.

That whole exercise is a phenomenal waste of time for anyone who is looking for actual information. The only one getting information there is Brodsky, and he’s using it to fact-find and gauge popular opinion about the suspect.

I’m not interested in helping the defense.

  34. Kimmer, I don’t think I can give you that number. As far as I know only those authorized (the Directors) can even use it to call. It’s really not my place to give it out either. You can email FSP (I know, I know – you’ve already tried that) and ask, but I highly doubt it will be given to you. Also, I wonder if it’s because she’s not checking under the correct name. Friends of Stacy Ann Peterson. Maybe she’ll have better luck with the correct name, plus the TIN? Other than that I don’t know what to tell you other than to be patient. Which I know is difficult. I’m getting antsy myself. I really want all of this cleared up ASAP so that the doubts about FoSP can be erased.

  35. lizanne – I don’t understand Brodsky referring to that law at all. That is true, it pertains to the conceal and carry issue. Prior to this being signed into law, my husband, as a retired p.o., would not have been able to carry a concealed weapon. Now he is. That weapon is the one he must qualify with yearly in order to be able to carry it. It must be a legal weapon. Where’s Brodsky going with this?

  36. Liz, I know what you mean about the other site, but what can you expect when the administrator of “MY BOARD” is mostly pro-Drew, according to him. Every single time I read one of his posts I think about Noway, and how she feels about spelling. Well, actually I feel the same way, and will even throw in an extra little dig about grammar and composition. This poor guy can’t even write a paragraph, or correctly end a sentence, but he does try to get his point across, misspelled words and all. “Jepherdy” is just an example. And, I’m truly sorry if this offends anyone, but my point is….most everyone can think about a situation and form an opinion, but not everyone can convey that opinion in an intelligent and educated way. Therefore, just consider the source. Don’t mean to sound pompous or condescending….truly I don’t. That’s just the way it is, and again, I’m sorry if anyone is offended by this. And yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and expressing it as best they can.

  38. chiefgirl, yes I am … there are lots of sites people have spread to … you can PM me at Lavanda’s (ww w@angelsforstacy.hqforums.com).

I put the space in the ww w because posts with links sometimes go to spam. It was fine for awhile, but twice yesterday I posted and nothing, so I’ve started putting the space again.

  39. drew’s AR-15 was not modified to be fully automatic if so he would have forsure been charged for that. So again it is not a machine gun as the AR-15 is semi-automatic

A machine gun is a fully-automatic mounted or portable firearm, usually designed to fire rifle cartridges in quick succession from an ammunition belt or large-capacity magazine, typically at a rate of several hundred rounds per minute.
In United States law, machine gun is a term of art for any fully-automatic firearm, and also for any component or part that will modify an existing firearm into a fully-automatic firearm.[1]

  40. Rescue, that’s my today’s question, he hasn’t aswered yet. Yesterday I asked him what MR’s realtionship was to Stacy, Kathy and Drew, and he simply answered that MR is a friend of Drews. So there’s another felon/fellow abuser friend.

  41. lizanne – check this out about associating with a “felon”:

    Here it is:

    Rodriguez Resignation Spurred by
Mob Linked Murders and Felon Pal

Breaking News Story, Nov. 16, 1997

Police Supt. Matt Rodriguez resigned following revelations that one of his closest friends is a convicted felon and tax cheat. But the real pressure came from undisclosed facts linking Rodriguez’s pal, convicted felon and tax cheat Frank Milito, to Pierre Zonis, a mob connected Chicago cop whose four year career was under the Superintendent’s umbrella of protection.

Thanks, I’ll try that. It would be the ID# from the first flier, correct? I guess what I don’t understand is are they calling a special phone number? Why would they be given a special # by the IRS when there are SOOOOO many applications? Oh well, I’ll try another email. I’d really like to put this one to bed too.

  44. Yes I read all of that too. I do more reading than posting, like I said I like to get in the head of the opposite debater, too.

  45. settingitstraight:

Friends of Stacy Ann Peterson???????? When did that name change come about?????????

Plus where did that picture come from that was posted on your site of Drew with no shirt on?

  46. I’m glad that settingitstraight provided that information (Stacy Ann, not just Stacy). It will be ironic if Amanda or Kimmer provides that information to the same organizations they checked with so far and it pops up that the application is in the works.

You’d think that a search for “Stacy Peterson” and “Stacy Ann Peterson” would at least register the possibility that they were one and the same.

  47. The shirt picture? Who cares? Is this going to start up again and take all afternoon? Just wondering?

  48. To settingitstraight:

You guys are quick to address the IRS issue but you always pass over the Attorney General’s office and the Secretary of State. Why are you not listed with either of those agencies? I just did a search and that name does not come up either.

At one point, it was said that the records regarding donations received and how they were being spent were going to be posted on your website a couple of weeks after April 15th. This has not happened yet. Any reason for the delay?

  49. Kimmer, the ID # needed to call is NOT the TIN. It’s a special number assigned just for the case file with the IRS. But yes, the TIN is the one from the first flier.

I like SYM … yes, there are people are all pro-Drew … just like other sites I visit have people who are all pro-Stacy …

But you can ask any question about the case or make any comment about the case and not be afraid that’s the end of your membership.

There is no way I’d be on the jury unless they fly us in from other states … but I wanted to try to get the whole picture (as much as anyone outside LE has the whole picture).

By the way … anyone heard from Bash? Was she going on a vacation?

  53. Freedom, have you taken a look at the code that Brodsky mentioned? I did but I couldn’t find out how it was relevant to Drew’s charge.

It appears to be a law that allows LE officers to carry concealed weapons, and that’s all.

Drew was charged with carrying an illegal weapon, so it’s hard to see what connection JB was trying to make.

  54. The AR-15A3 is an exceptional patrol rifle with tactical accuracy chosen by federal, state and local agencies. The 16.1″ (40.9 cm) heavy barrel with 1 in 9″ (229 mm) rifling twist allows flexibility in ammunition selection. The telescopic buttstock adjusts to four positions to enhance mobility and fit to a wider range of operators. In position the removable carrying handle provides an M16A4 target style sight adjustable for windage and elevation to 600 meters. Easily removable, the flat top upper receiver allows for easy mounting of optical, night vision and other tactical sighting systems. The tactical carbine is the answer to all the requirements of modern law enforcement.

I don’t think that they are being given a special number to call. But as the supposed applicant they would be given some type of confirmation number from their application. I believe that is the number that SIS is speaking of.

Also, if the name is actually Friends of Stacy Ann Peterson then that should probably be updated on their donations page and their Paypal account. Interesting that after all this time, someone is just now mentioning this name.

  58. I will not discuss anything related to the forum. I believe that is in violation of Gatehouse’s rules? To discuss other message boards and their members? The FSP forum is gone. Time to stop obsessing over it.

  61. facs first off the charge is wrong and they will have to change it. He was charged with unlawful uses of a weapon and the charge should have been unlawful possession of a weapon.
As far as the law JB quoted I would have to go over it again. The key will be was the weapon registered as his offical swat weapon if so he was legal to have it. That is if LE measured the barrel correctly and didn’t not forceably remove the muzzle on it.
Also it’s odd that ATF is not involved in this since this is a federal weapons charge that normally the ATF would handle.
This particular weapon if you follow the last link I posted is made specifically for LE.

And we can discuss other forums, just not post personal info or bash members of other forums who don’t post here.

I guess that means you are free to bash me here because I am a member of other forums and I do post here. 😀

I might need Gatehouse to clarify that one!

  64. Noway, I copied the actual paypal account you donate too on paypal not fsp, it does not say Stacy Ann Peterson so what there are different accounts you are saying settingitstraight?

  65. settingitstraight // May 28, 2008 at 12:42 pm

I will not discuss anything related to the forum. I believe that is in violation of Gatehouse’s rules? To discuss other message boards and their members? The FSP forum is gone. Time to stop obsessing over it.

Itssal, the only explanation I can give you regarding the delay in the release of financials is that people are busy. I’m sure that isn’t a satisfactory answer, but it is what it is. March is done. April is just about done. I can’t give you and definitive answer as to when they will be posted.
    —-

lol as you can see it only seems to be a rule when talking about FSP. there is much talk on here daily about the forum JB posts on and even comments about the owner of that forum.

Actually, March is gone, April is gone and May is just about gone as well…but whatever. By the way, once again you passed right over my question about the SOS and the AG’s office. Should I assume that by not answering, the board is thumbing their noses at the laws of IL and refusing to register with those agencies. And it can’t be that you are waiting on the IRS to approve your non profit status before you register with them because it is not required.

nope not the case when I called last month and also back in Feb/March timeframe I gave Friends of Stacy Peterson, Findstacypeterson, Stacy Peterson and the IRS has absolutely NO RECORDS concering non profit, not even an approval letter or we got your app letter.

  68. I’m not going to break Gatehouse’s rules just because others do. I’m trying to be helpful and answer some questions. If those answers are going to be deleted for breaking the rules then it is pointless to even post them.

  69. lets get this straight-fsp is off limits because its another forum but SYM is not off limits being another forum?

facs first off the charge is wrong and they will have to change it.

Where did you see that? That’s the first I’ve heard that he was charged with the wrong offense.

  71. bbismytown // May 28, 2008 at 12:49 pm

I wonder if Supt. Matt Rodriguez’ FOID was revoked?
    ***************

I wondered that myself. Since he’s retired, he would have had to get a letter from the Police Pension Board indicating that he’s fit to carry a concealed weapon now that the law has been passed. So, he needs his FOID card and the PPB approval. He would have to register and qualify with the concealed weapon in order to carry it also.

  72. Answer them settingitstraight please. I am copying everything for the record.

Now about that picture of drew, where did it come from?

  73. When am I going to learn that posting here gets me nowhere? Looks like I’m wasting my time here. I’ve got better things to do than argue with some of you. Have a nice afternoon. It’s beautiful outside!

  74. that shirtless pic of drew is from around the time kathleen died??
well it’s a no brainer where the pic came from then. I’m guessing Cassandra!!!

    oh bad naughty me!

lol yeah truth I’d say setistraight has a few more answers to give.

  75. I just did a News Google and couldn’t find anything about them changing the charge against Drew. Sounds like a rumor.

  76. Just as I thought, it won’t get answered. Well SIS, I’m sure you are still reading so my question is:

Would you ask Sharon is she minds if I send Drew a sign to stick in his front yard that asks these questions. Matter of fact, I have a printing contact. Perhaps I can ask them to print several and they can be posted all over town. What do you think?

  77. sami, I think that it is the CONTENT of the posting that is libelous or slanderous that is not not allowed. Bashing etc.

Otherwise we would not be able to post links to anywhere.

  78. why argue setit?? why not just answer WHY friends of stacy ann peterson is not registered with the IL AG?
yes it’s nice out and I’d go outside if I was you to avoid having to answer any more questions!

  79. I thought “illegal use of a weapon” included the possession of that weapon.

Could be wrong, but thought someone with gun knowledge had posted that information when someone had questioned whether “use” of the weapon meant “firing” of a weapon … the person thought it was connected to the firing of the Glock into the garage.

It came from Greta’s legal panel that the charge is incorrect unlawful use of a weapon means you are actually using the weapon, ie holding it and firing it.
unlawful possession of a firearm means you are in possession of an illegal firearm not shotting it or robbing a bank with it.
So was drew using the weapon? nope he was in posession of it and turned it over to LE.
    hence the wrong charge.

  81. The illegal use of a weapon does include possessing a modified, illegal weapon.

If you wear the ninja suit while carrying it concealed, same thing, illegal use.

  86. Amanda –

Does the AG’s office know your voice by now? 🙂

Seriously, I just don’t get that someone (settingitstraight) would think that they can just keep saying the same thing over and over and eventually people will buy it.

Remember, most of the posters here know not to smoke when searching barrels that may contain hazardous materials. So obviously these same people are going to realize that saying “oh yeah, by the way it’s actually under this name.” is just more smoke and mirrors.

  87. Does anyone here know how much it costs to rent a billboard in Bolingbrook or if there are in billboards in Bolingbrook?

  88. Honestly, I don’t mind what anyone discusses. If it doesn’t interest me I skip over it, especially when I don’t have anything invested nor history in the conversation.

I was just clarifying that you get in trouble for posting nasties, as opposed to simply referencing another site.

  89. Hello everyone,
We just wanted to clarify a few things regarding the rules of this blog.

Under normal circumstances, discussion of the SYM board would be off-limits, but because Mr. Brodsky is a member and active poster over there, discussion of that forum clearly has news value. That being said, limit your discussion to the questions posed by members and his answers to them. Leave other members of that board out of it.

If you have any further questions regarding our rules visit
    https://petersonstory.wordpress.com/forum-rules/

We have also set up an e-mail for everyone to report abuse of these rules.

  90. I just tried that link, gatehouse, so I could quote you, but it wouldn’t come up for me. Is it a good link now?

  91. ive seen some nasties here not taken down. not exactly consistant here. seems theres alot of dont talk about fsp when its convenient but its a free for all on sym or anyone else not affiliated with fsp.

  92. I think what settingitstraight meant by “March is done, April is just about done.” is that the financials for those are done. And settingitstraight is not sure when the financials will be posted.

At least that is what I got out of it.

I would think that if they were in fact a legitimate corp, llc, unincorporated llc, etc. that would be newsworthy b/c it would end the speculation. Has a story not be ran b/c you know they cannot be verified and do not want to loose your scoop from beings friends with Sharon and/or the family?

  97. facs they stated it was not big deal and that the charge would be changed.
But I found this so if the ammo was nearby or it was not in a case the would fall under unlawful use.

In Illinois, a weapons charge is always a felony and carries harsh penalties. What constitutes the illegal use of weapons under the state’s Unlawful Use of Weapon (UUW) law includes the following:

The firearm is uncased, loaded and immediately accessible.
The firearm is uncased, unloaded and ammunition for the weapon is immediately available.
The person with the firearm has no valid Firearms Owner Identification Card (FOIC).
The person with the firearm was previously convicted of a felony as a juvenile.
The person with the firearm is committing a misdemeanor violation of the Cannabis Control Act or the Controlled Substances Act.
The person with the firearm is engaged in street-gang related activity.
The person with the firearm had an order of protection issued against him or her within the last two years.
The person with the firearm was engaged in the commission of a misdemeanor involving the use or threatened use of violence against another person or property.
The person with the firearm was under 21 years of age and in possession of a handgun unless the person is engaged in lawful activities under the Wildlife Code.

  108. Does anyone know if DP had intended on getting that weapon back through the court proceedings, along with his other weapons? Was that on the list to be returned?

Because if he did, it’s his contention, through Brodsky, that it was a “legal” weapon solely for use as a weapon while he was on the Swat Team of the BB Police Department.

If this gun was returned to him and he then turned around and gave possession to his son, wouldn’t he knowingly been giving his son an illegal weapon? How was he going to get out of that one? Couldn’t sell it.

No, you just have to keep upLOL

  111. Freedom, you are correct that the AR 15 is technically not considered a machine gun, but rather an assault rifle, which is debatable terminology outside of the USA. I’m not a gun aficionado, and considered the term loosely as meaning a gun that fires more than once automatically, which I believe these guns can and will do depending on the model and modifications. Just wanted to apologize for my statement that the new law,18 USC 26B, doesn’t permit machine guns, and the assumption that I was referring to Drew’s AR-15 as such. I was, but I thought it would be catogorized as such based on the limited knowledge I had about it. Also, Facs also posted a definition after my post that implies it could be considered as a machine gun by those of us who don’t know much about guns. Sorry for not knowing more about them.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Semi-automatic and automatic variants of the AR-15 are effectively identical in appearance. Automatic variants have a rotating selective fire switch, allowing the operator to select between three modes: safe, semi-automatic, and either automatic or three round burst, depending on model.
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    facsmiley // May 28, 2008 at 12:13 pm

IF and I will say if this is what they are trying to pull……then why all the back and forth stuff about we are just waiting on our approval letter for 501(3)c status. Also, what or whose name is that Tax ID # tied to because it IS NOT tied to the Friends of Stacy Peterson. Futhermore, no matter what their status is they still MUST register with the Attorney General’s office which would have meant they would have had to file at the very least their Articles of Association, By Laws, etc. (again that’s if you beleive that is what their status is). Now on the flip side….if they are trying to claim tax exemption on the monies that they have TAKEN in….then they would be required to incorporate and which would mean filing with the SOS, AG’s office and IRS.

If that ID # that they provided is actually somebodies SS#, then that person will be responsible for paying taxes an all monies collected.

Also pass this along to anyone you know that likes to donate to charitable causes, this will tell you who’s legitimately a 501(3)c and who’s not:

You must have a short screen like me and miss a post or two when they come fast.

  115. lizanne

i saw that post already. i asked gatehouse specifically about the inconsistancy of those rules that are posted.

  116. lizanne61, I think it goes to the fact that all gun makers know what the length limits are and if you have a gun with too short of a barrel you have used that weapon in an illegal way by modifiying it.

  117. Psst….Gatehouse:

Can you answer my question about why your agency has chose NOT to run a story about the legitimacy or lack of the legitimacy about the funds being collected by FoSP or FoSAP?

  118. truthisthere // May 28, 2008 at 1:51 pm

You have used that gun to make an illegal gun.
    ***********************************

When Drew bought the gun it had already been modified – he didn’t make any adjustment to it but that doesn’t matter under the law. It’s the ownership of the illegal weapon that got him in trouble.

I’ll be law officers all over the state are pulling out the measuring tapes and checking the barrel lengths of their weapons.

And I did not mean that in the dirty way that I’m sure some of you took it. 🙂

  119. And I did not mean that in the dirty way that I’m sure some of you took it.
    ——-
    Cracking up over here! 🙂

  120. facsmiley – whether or not DP measured that barrel, he, through his attorney, claims that was a weapon registered with the BB PD. Either it is or it isn’t, no matter what size it is. Peterson says it’s registered, McGury says it’s not. It’ll all be out there eventually. Someone doesn’t have their facts straight. So, Brodsky has subpoenaed the records and we’ll have have to wait and see what happens.

  121. Facs, I guess if some of those weapons can get you out of a ticket, it’s important to know how long they are, you think?

  122. lol I bet they measure their weapons weekly!! lol

cfs no apology necessary we all including me get things confused or wrong. I was wrong about the illegal use of a weapon due to greta’s legal panel not citing IL law. it’s all cool and I can see why many would think it’s a machine gun!

  123. Rescue,

If it’s legal length and it’s not registered with the BBPD it’s not a problem. It’s just a legal gun DP bought for personal use.

If it’s legal length and it is registered with the BBPD it’s still not a problem. That means it was a service weapon and it’s all hunky dory.

But if it’s an illegal length and not registered, then it’s a big problem for DP.

If it’s an illegal length and it IS registered, then it’s a problem for the BBPD, since it would be their job to inspect the gun before letting it be registered.

So the illegal length is the main issue here. Whether or not it was registered to the PD would only mean that they do or don’t share Drew’s guilt.

    I think this is correct…

  124. “I’ll bet law officers all over the state are pulling out the measuring tapes and checking the barrel lengths of their weapons.”

    Make me pee my pants.

I don’t think its been determined (at least publicly) if it came modified. JB answered me on that one with the “I don’t believe” answer:

    8. I don’t believe it was modified. I believe this model comes with a flash supressor. I could be wrong though, because I havn’t really looked into this issue. For my purpose it doesn’t matter because the gun was registered and approved by the police department on an annual basis when Drew qualified with all of his duty weapons. He has done this each year for more than the last 10 years. So the gun could have a 1 inch barrel and it would still have been legal for Drew to have as long as he was a sworn officer. The gun was taken on Nov. 1 or 2 and Drew submitted his resignation/retirement on Nov. 12.

  125. I’m curious about the swat aspect which is what the weapon is supposed to be used for. Would his swat weapon be registered with BBPD or with the division of swat that he was part of which was for will county I believe.

  126. Rule #1, always leave wiggle room, uhhhh it was my belief at the time……

They didn’t ‘believe’ Stacy had come to any harm before either. Now they think it’s a possibility. Surprised they haven’t come up with maybe she committed suicide in the appalachians. She was depressed and all. That’s next.

  127. facs – Thinking of Linda Blair’s head spinning around on the Exorcist!!!! Illegal length, but registered. Legal length, but not registered. Wooooooo!!!!! Got it.

Boy, would DP’s son, Stephen, be in the trick bag if his father had turned over that gun to him. That is, assuming it’s an illegal weapon.

The more I think about it, the more it becomes clearer that LE didn’t necessarily want to charge him now with the crime of illegal use, but since that gun, along with the others, was about to be released by the Court, it seems like they had no choice. They would have knowingly released an illegal weapon to a suspect in a possible murder. What other choice did they have?

Imagine if that gun somehow got into the hands of a known felon, been used in a crime, and it turns out that LE knew it was an illegal weapon, but kept quiet about it.

  128. Rescue, I realize this is off-topic but does my new avatar show up for you? That’s my rescued baby.

  129. freedom,

I think that even if it was legal for a swat guy to have it, it is no longer legal and cannot be released back to Stephen (or him) as Jr is not swat. Has to be off the streets.

I’ll see if I can find the SWAT info tho. But according to the police chief, this was not registered with them, and he had not qualified with it, so it was not an acceptable weapon for him to possess (and possibly use).

  130. facsmiley – I posted to you about that earlier – you and lizanne. Yes, it does show up and both pets are very cute!!!!!!!!!

  131. Yes I understand that Liz that stephen could not legally have the weapon. What I don’t understand is why this charge was not made in Nov when they first obtained the weapon? Surely it did not take them 6 months to measure the barrel. Then he would have been charged with a felony and probably convicted and no foid card hence no release of weapons period.
I don’t like dirty cop tricks and that’s what this weapon charge 6 months later seems like to me.

  132. Freedom, I think they were holding out to get maximum leverage on it.

    Nothing up my sleeve, presto!

  133. Yeah, he is a pit. A cop found him wandering the streets, skinny, scared and banged up. In Chicago, the humane society will not accept pit bulls for adoption, they just euthanise, but this PO was nice enough to take him to the Furry Friends Foundation where they do accept them and adopt them out.

  134. I really don’t see what leverage they got out of it. many peoople including some LE feel it was very underhanded and does not look favorably for ISP.

  135. and I think they call it “strategy.” (not dirty cop tricks). And who knows, maybe they didn’t take a good look at anything until it was coming up on the time to return it. If it came in with the suppressor attached (standard use as otherwise too much peripheral blowout), which screws on in a sec, it may not have been apparent the actual length of the barrel.

I don’t think that kind of oversight is necessariy deliberate, just possibly a little bumbling.

  136. I think LE charged him now because they were backed into a corner. What other choice did they have but to charge him? If the gun was about to be released by the judge/court, what other choice did they have?

Would they have been seen in a more favorable light by bringing this up to the judge and just sitting on it without any explanation? Wouldn’t Brodsky have to be told the reason why the gun wasn’t being released?

  137. well that’s a pretty scary thought to think that LE isn’t taking a good look at drews weapons makes you wonder what else they are not taking a good look at.
who knows I still call it dirty cop tricks and hope it doesn’t backfire on LE.

  138. facs- re Pits. They are misunderstood. Having done some breeding, I learned that the fighters are bred from bad lines, but most are not and are great dogs and good pets. According to my vet, that is. My friend has a brindle I just love.
The pit, the dobe and my 2 goldens play great, no fighting, just a lot of wrestling.

  139. “I think LE charged him now because they were backed into a corner.”–

But then again why couldn’t they just say Stephen couldn’t have that one, and the service revolvers, back, instead of making a charge?

Must be a good reason. Maybe they were just making him pay for embarassing their department.

  140. backed in a corner come on if the weapon is illegal it was illegal when they confiscated it.
dirty cop tricks and I bet there are more to come because they want drew so bad they can’t stand it and obviously they don’t have any evidence to get him for kathleens murder or stacys dissapearance.
heck he’s still not a suspect in kathleens death, the death ISP ruled an accident years ago.
I bet there are more dirty cop tricks to come I’m not very impressed with ISP and they do have quite a history of corruption and putting innocents in jail and on death row.

  141. Well, tomorrow is a hearing on the weapons matter. Isn’t there a rumor, too, that the teens are to testify before the GJ? Tomorrow will be another flurry of events.

  142. Well maybe if drew hadn’t killed two wifes, collected all kinds of insurance money, involved all kinds of people in the coverup, LE would have more time to measure his guns.

  143. LOL, well then, freedom, I guess that says it all. Charged him to get back and him and it’s all dirty cop tricks. But, maybe this time this group is getting it right, rather than the group that investigated the death of KS.

    oh yeah thats the ticket!!
I’m sure LE didn’t waste any time doing ballistic checks on those weapons when they first confiscated them.

  145. Got to take a break, filling the pool today. Now if the weather would just get warm.

I’ll check on the SWAT weapons info tho, I saw it somewhere around here.

yeah sure, let’s look at what’s going on in will county
5 african american women murdered in last few years none solved and it might possibly be a serial killer
atleast 5 missing from will county never to be heard from again, no arrests or convictions.
yeah maybe they will get this one right.

    ***********************

They absolutely couldn’t do that. If they acknowledge that the gun is illegal then they HAVE to bring a charge. They’re the police!

If Drew hadn’t pursued getting his guns returned, it could have quietly gone away but once the judge said the guns must be returned they were in a position where they either had to knowingly put that illegal gun out on the street or they had to charge Drew. No two ways about it.

see that’s what I don’t understand if the gun is illegal it’s illegal and he should have been charged in Nov/Dec.
What you are saying is LE was gonna let it slide that drew had an illegal gun. But because drew forced their hand they had to arrest him.
The way I see it they should have arrested him the minute they found out the gun was illegal.
hence dirty cop tricks and according to you part of their trick was to let the illegal gun slide until drew pushed the issue.
    doesn’t really fly with me.

  153. truthisthere // May 28, 2008 at 2:51 pm

Freedom, maybe Drew is being looked at in these cases too.
    —-

probably and I bet he’s being looked at regarding Jimmy hoffa.

  154. freedom – I don’t think they were going to let the gun “slide.” They had it in their possession and they weren’t about to let it go. But, because it was part of the inventory of guns, they had to make a move. Obviously, they had to charge him with that crime sometime.

What do you think makes it dirty cop tricks by doing it now, rather than early? What difference would it have made?

  155. Freedom you don’t understand. In murder cases they sometimes have lots of charges they can bring but they do not because they are concentraiting on the big one. Why would they want to waste their time with that when they know they have him on the big one?

Brodsky and Drew insisted on them giving that weapon back and to keep it off the streets they had to go by the law.

It is Brodsky’s and Drews fault he is being charged with it.

  156. truthisthere ……It is Brodsky’s and Drews fault he is being charged with it.

    ——–
It makes quite a big difference but seems I’m the only one that sees that.
LE had all his weapons in their possession and did not want to let ANY of them go, legal or illegal.
the post I responded to said LE had no choice to charge drew because drew pushed the gun issue.
I call BS on that LE should have charged drew for an illegal weapon immediately when they obtained the illegal weapon.
LE can’t confiscate personal possesions and hold them forever without charging the person they took the possesions from and the judge agreed.
That’s what LE wanted to do, same with Stebic once they find out they can’t, they play dirty!!
why not revoke the foid cards when they take the weapons? Why wait until the judge orders them back to do that ? why wait to say a weapon is illegal 6 months later? why isn’t it illegal when they take the weapon.
sorry that’s how I see it!

  158. truthisthere // May 28, 2008 at 3:04 pm

lol yeah right! So illegal only means illegal when you dare ask for your posessions back.
sorry I dont agree at all if the weapon is illegal then charge him when you obtain it.
I see nothing in the law that says if you push LE hand when you are being investigated for your wifes dissapearance then and only then will you be charged for having an illegal weapon.

  159. Well, freedom, on the issue of “dirty cops,” I am afraid this is an issue on which we disagree. Charge him right away, charge him now. I don’t see the “dirty cops” issue. Sorry.

  160. dirty cop trick! not implying dirty cops!! I’m staying they are using a dirty trick with this weapon because things didn’t go their way with the judge and the weapons being released.
it will go before the judge and LE will have to prove their side as drew will and we shall see.

  161. sher69 // May 28, 2008 at 3:07 pm

Yes I believe also about the gun also.
Oh and by the way ,,,,,hello!
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hi Sher, I was a little confused about your post. What is it that you believe about the gun?

  162. cfs7360 // May 28, 2008 at 3:18 pm

Rescue, are you thinking what I’m thinking?

tell us what are you thinking?

  163. freedom – I am confused then what you are saying.

My stand: The guns were about to be given back and they couldn’t let that one go. Hence, they had to charge him with a crime NOW. No choice. Eventually, they would have to charge him with a crime. Obviously, it was for a reason that they waited to pull that out of their hat.

I don’t know where you stand with this. My take on “dirty cop tricks” is “dirty cops.” I can’t argue a point with you on that because you and I are not on the same page.

I feel like it’s a “get dragged in and duke it out to the finish” kind of thought going on here. On my end, I’m done with it. I totally disagree with it being an issue. I don’t see any “dirty cop tricks.” Hopefully, I have made my point clear on that.

  164. Oh Freedom, sorry. That didn’t have a thing to do with what you were saying. In fact, I can see exactly where you’re coming from. My first thought was that I hoped LE had more than this and why wait so long? But after reading a lot about it and others’ opinions, I agree that the gun couldn’t be released to Drew or Stepehn, or anyone else. Maybe LE is waiting on the GJ, and didn’t think this would be an issue until the time came for the hearing to have the guns released. I have to admit, I’m a little torn about this one, but I do think LE had a ulterior motive for waiting so long. Whatever it is, I guess we’ll find out when or if Drew is changed. Don’t really know.

  165. Yeah, well, I can conjure up all kinds of thoughts about that “illegal” gun. If, in fact, that gun was never registered with the BB PD, who’s to say that gun wasn’t used in some illegal activity? I wouldn’t put anything past Drew Peterson. But, let me clarify that last remark. I do not like him, and I have drawn my conclusions about him and his shady ways from the way HE presented himself over six months of a publicity stunt. I don’t believe a word he says.

By the way – where did he say he purchased that gun from?

  166. Oh, and if I am not mistaken, DP would have to qualify at least 1x a year with that gun to be able to use it as a service weapon. I am assuming BB has the same regulations as other departments. I’m not clear on this, but I would imagine that gun would have to be “accounted” for at the time of qualification. I really don’t think he could walk up to the range, starting shooting at the target, and go on his merry way without verifying the validity of the gun he was using! So, I am assuming that will also/not also be in the records Brodsky has subpoenaed.

  167. cfs – I would really like to know if he did say where he got that gun from, or if it’s been determined where it was purchased from.

Was it obtained new? I’ve never heard where he got it from.

  168. I would surely think Rescue. You know, discussing this case has become such an almost daily part of our lives, I even dreamed about Drew last night, and I don’t think I’ve ever been so glad to wake up from a dream in my life! We were on a date (I know, don’t say it) and it was Labor Day and he got sick while we were at a casino, and then took his shirt off to lie down on a sofa in the Casino. I mean, is that crazy? Just reading this stuff here has gotten into my DREAMS of all things! And to boot, I’m an old, nearly 60 yeard old lady who never even thinks about dating because I’m very happily married for 38 years. I think I need a serious break from all this stuff!!

  169. cfs – LOL at you. That’s a “gamble” I don’t think you should be taking, dreaming about DP at a casino!!!

It’s good to take a few days off here and there. That’s what I did, and it helps to keep the b.p. down!

  170. cfs – I wish I could remember mine now. I love that your date was on Labor day and the DP was sick. Are you sure it wasn’t JB you were with?

  171. Rescue you are SO RIGHT!! But with the discussion of the “win a date with Drew” contest, his shirtless picture, online gambling (from some poster), and Brodsky saying he’s sick on Labor Day instead of Memorial Day, who knows what’s going to creep into you subconscious while you’re sleeping?

  172. Guess I should s picture of Sigmund, my little Isabella and Tan mini dachshund so I can be a “dog people” too. Although a stray cat just hat kittens in a clump of pampas grass in my yard this week. Don’t know WHAT I’m going to do with them!

  173. I have cats too. Eventually they’ll get equal time.

CFS – Would you accept a trade of a mean-ass jerk of a cat for one of those kittens?

  174. Nope, no trade, but you can have ALL of mine. I’m not much of a cat person, so I definitely don’t want a mean-ass jerk of a cat, but kittens are so cute! Don’t know who the mama cat belongs to, but she chose my yard for some reason, even though there’s a six ft privacy fence all the way around it. Anyway Facs, there all yours if you want them!

  175. Wasn’t cfs the one who was dreaming and DP and the casino? Hmm … what appointment?

Back home and just in time … starting to storm here.

  176. I skimmed the posts above … does anyone know the court date for the gun charge? I had just read “at the end of the month” which could be any day this week.

  177. Found info on another blogboardforumsite.

  188. Rescue, I have another appt (honestly I do) in a few minutes, but this is terrible. If Stacy is found in this maner, it’s really going to be difficult to prove Drew did it, but maybe not so difficult to prove that he had a hand in it. I almost would rather she was never found anywhere than to be found scattered along a filed somewhere like this person, or others that have been discovered accidentally. By the way I’m a Realtor, so I have appointments at odd hours, and that’s the truth!

Sorry if this was already posted…
Just because Drew has this assault rifle and is with John Travolta…..does that make it legal? NO. Everyone knows that cops keep these locked up in their trunks. Poeple don’t get pulled over by cops with assault rifles. Superiors don’t go around and open trunks and start measuring weapons. BUT DREW knew the policies. So why does Brodsky think this pic is going to get Drew off from violating policies? Drew KNEW what the policies involved in his weapons. I’m sure they were WRITTEN policies. Just more junk that Brodsky throws out to the media. Anything to splash Drew out front as opposed to LOOKING FOR STACY.

  219. Lavanda, from my understanding Drew isn’t lacking in the “groupie” department….:)

  220. See what happens … I get out in the sun and then I just don’t play nice. It happens every time … maybe I’m allergic to sunlight in some weird way.

I’ll try to keep quiet for awhile.

    Note that I said TRY.

  221. lavandadolce // May 28, 2008 at 9:32 pm

Bet Drew’s jealous. John flies a REAL plane………..and people ask him for his autograph…..

he probably asked travolta if he could co pilot with him sometime

  222. I don’t think that anyone is obligated to regularly patrol their property to survey for bodies. If so, the 2 largest land holders in the country (I believe the US government & the Catholic church) have a heck of alot of regular surveying to do.

  223. You know, Brodsky is scaring me. First he has a picture posted of Mr. Morphey that he says proves he was doing drugs as late as last year. That picture doesn’t show the mans hands, and only shows him from his chest up, looking at the camera, with a Pepsi bottle in the frame of the picture.

Now, Brodsky says this picture of Drew with a rifle, getting an autograph from John Travolta, proves that his client, a former sergeant on the Bolingbrook, Ill. police department did, in fact, use the assault weapon while on duty, despite what state police want the public and the court to believe.

Yeah, maybe it does “prove” he did, in fact, use the assault weapon while on duty. Doesn’t prove that he registered it with the BB PD as he claims to have done, and doesn’t prove it is a legal weapon.

    Again, with the fairy tales.

  225. It’s hard to even see the gun. Is it on his back? I enlarged it to 400% and still couldn’t make it out. That was hysterical Noway. When Lavanda started off takling about John Travolta, I couldn’t image why the gun was with him of all people, but I see now.

  226. However, BB….if someone were missing in your town…wouldn’t you search your own property….just in case? I know I would. I know when the 2 children from NH were buried between PA and IL , they were missing for two years until a woman discovered their remains on her property while walking with her dog. Fact is, I believe she purposely set out to check her property and found them.

  227. IMO what the picture shows is Drew on duty (official capacity) and those hours worked would be logged and recorded.

In the picture he is carrying the firearm he has been charged with possessing illegally.

Ya know, cops are gun guys – BIG TIME! Others certainly would have noticed what he was carrying and I would have to think his superiors would be included.

The PROBLEM with the picture (as shown) is that you cannot clearly see the length of the barrel.

But as it was an event where there was alot of media – there are probobly other pics or video somewhere.

  229. cfs, I thought Lavanda had lost her mind too … WTH did John Travolta have to do with anything.

I’d copied the link from lcr2008 but was having an ID10T error and couldn’t read the article. Then Lavanda posted it and I got a clue.

I do have a habit (bad one) of saying (and typing) the first thing that pops into my head.

    😀

  230. He also had to pay for that press release. (see main page) Probably the $239 package.

    That was hilarious Liz!

  231. I still wonder why the Chief of Police hasnt spoken with any of the local news station, they have stated they have called him, and havent gotten a response back….but he has all the time in the world for Fox Cable?

Could it be that he did look, and the paperwork is actually there before he went on Fox?

  232. BB said “Ya know, cops are gun guys – BIG TIME!”

    LOL…
When we go up north, my uncle, the cop, sits at the campfire with a gun holstered. In case of bears he says!!! He’s the best tho, my son’s namesake.

  233. Letthetruth,

I think FOX only phoned him and took his statement. I don’t believe he “went on” Fox….unless I missed something?

  234. LOL, if this is any indication how Drew’s trial is going to play out, if he is charged, with Brodsky pulling out his pictures and explaining things that aren’t there, those jurors are in for a real treat.

And, by the way, if that other officer is Drew’s ex-partner, Alex Morelli, they’re not exactly on speaking terms anymore, and I’m sure Officer Morelli would hate to have his butt hauled back in to help Drew get off an illegal weapons charge.

You never know when something is going to come back and bite you in your ***!

  235. Actually Rachael Mellon went missing VERY CLOSE to our home. I did not specifically check the yards.

And Lisa Stebic? Didn’t check either.

And Stacy? I didn’t check either.

And I am not driving to S. IL to check our property down there everytime someone goes missing. I just can’t do it.

I’m not trying to sound indifferent. I mean an Amber Alert, yeah, I’m making mental notes and keeping my eyes peeled.

Guess it’s kinda weird. I never checked MY properties, but looked and searched elsewhere in all 3 of those cases.

  236. Lavanda, he was on Fox the morning following the arrest. And he is always on Fox…never, ever see him on the local network newscasts.

  237. I imagine John Travolta won’t be too happy coming to say…..”I’m supposed to remember some cop from HOW many years ago and the length of his barrel?”…………..lol

  238. Oh BB. How long would it take to search your property? Or at least a good walk and glance over? Unless you have acres and acres….there’s nothing to lose by looking….especially if you’re in a remote type area. I can understand if your on a residential street….then it’s highly unlikely you’ll happen upon a hidden body. However…if you have lots of land, or wooded area’s…..I’d check.

  239. cfs, just an aside about the pool ? We take it down a third in the fall, then the snow melt fills it up (almost overflow this year, the frogs making homes there were keeping me up all night). Then in the summer we drain it and have water hauled in (crappy well water), 25,000 glns. then we top it off with filtered spigot water.

What a pain, but we have a staycation all summer, and my husband’s in water etc. testing so he has it under control.

  240. Noway, your posts are a true pleasure, and I thoroughly enjoy your quick wit. Please keep posting before you think! We love it.

  241. Oh and just from my point of view, most cops arent gun crazy. We were at a Memorial Day’s BBQ with many, many CPD and I didn’t see one of them with their weapon. They are so called “required to carry it at all times in the city limits”, but I know very few that actually do.

And to take it one step further, they would just as soon tell you they are brick layers to saying the are cops.

Ahhhh. Ok. Well, unfortunately I don’t have satellite tv anymore….we’re back to cable so I can’t get long distance news channels:( Also, you would think my satellite car radio should have news channels from all over….but it only has “weather” channels from all over 😦

  243. If I cross the line with the “quick wit” please let me know. Believe me, I have started to post some things and deleted the post before submitting.

  244. Liz, you dont call the Fire Department to come fill it? 🙂

    Just teasing, a city joke I guess….lol.

  245. When John Spira went missing near me, they asked everyone to check their properties. A lot of farmland and woods around here. I’m surrounded by forest preserve.

Also, when an acquaintance of mine killed his girlfriend, in the late fall, he rolled her up and brought her to the end of a farm road. But the farmer was out the next week doing something and they found her and he confessed.

Unfortunately, a decomposed body will show less evidence, except maybe a martial arts type break.

  246. We love your posts, noway. And I REALLY needed that laugh. It was the best 🙂

Well…all, it’s bedtime for me. Long day tomorrow. Be sure to email me should news come out that a photo surfaces with Drew and George Clooney. I for one would DEFINETLY be flying out for that trial even if I had a seat in the hall 😉 G’nite….take care.

  247. letthetruth, I understand the not wanting people to know you are a cop; it could go either way as to how they feel about cops.

A relative of mine was the county attorney in the town I grew up in. People would often ask if I was related to him. I was never sure how to answer … he might have put their uncle in jail or put the guy who killed their uncle in jail.

I’m still here, so I guess I answered the right way. 😉

  248. Lizanne, who the heck are you hanging out with?

Girlfriend that was almost murdered by her hubby the cop, and now an acquaintance that kills his girlfriend?

    That’s crazy stuff!!!!!

I envisioned the firemen’s hose just BLASTING liz’s pool out of her yard and down the street. 😀

  250. Noway, granted there are “cowboys” on the job, but in my years of being around them, I havent met, or seen to many.

In all honesty, the majority go into it with the right intentions, just wanting to do good, go home to their families, and support their families. Yes there are bad apple, but plenty more good than bad.

  251. Brodsky said:

“This photo should convince the state police that they’ve made a mistake with these charges,” says Joel A. Brodsky, Peterson’s criminal defense attorney. “If not we might need to subpoena Mr. Travolta when this case goes to court,” Brodsky says jokingly.

    ******

Does he mean the cops should run scared now, drop the charges and let Drewpy off? I was just wondering, cuz I don’t know why he didn’t run to the cops with this picture, but, instead, had his PR guy print it? What happened to those records he subpoenaed from the BB PD? How come he didn’t “prove” to everyone that he gun is officially registered?

    Just so I know.

  252. nice pic! if you enlarge it and mess with the contrast you can see the weapon on his side but not tell the length of the barrel. I would think his superiors would have the knowledge to spot a modified assault weapon that was not legal to carry. If not surely they certified the weapon. If not then why?
could it be possible that drew is not the one telling fairy tales about the weapon?
If that is true wonder what other fairy tales are being told and not by drew.
maybe the chief will let greta in on the answers.

  253. I agree with you about the mostly good cops, they just aren’t as interesting and don’t stand out.hehe

My friend who “accidentally” shot his girlfriend was actually put in charge of watching over me when my navy boyfriend went to Austin to school. after bingo one night he followed me to Hoffman estates because I was on ‘E’ and two days later he dropped Maggie in a cornfield near my house there.

It seems surreal now. But he had a gun collection.

  254. Noway, its been known to happen in Chicago that the Fireman have filled their personal homes pools with the hoses from the Fire Trucks…..lol.

  255. When you consider how many LE personnel there are in the U.S., it is the majority (IMO) who are good and who take their duty seriously.

  256. letthetruth, that is too funny about the firemen filling their pools … sure would save time … I guess!

Kids are asleep thanks to hubby … going to spend some quality time with him now. 😀

  258. Unfortunately it’s the lone wolves that make the others look bad. I would hate to be BBPD right now. I’m sure there’s been some tree shaking down there.

  259. I cant wait, seriously, cant wait to get Scott McClellans new book What Happened.

I went to Barnes and Nobles tonight to get it, but it’s not coming out until next week, June 2nd.

  260. I wish they’d bring me water. We’re in a wierd place, no hydrants and they have to haul it in from the next town for fires anyway.

Do you think if I build a bonfire behind the pool, and call 911, hmmmmmm

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
What is a staycation? I forgot about the snow because we don’t have that to contend with here, but you said you hauled a 150 lb pool heater out of your truck on boogie boards, so I thought maybe you kept it up all winter. That’s what we do, and it’s a 20 x 40 inground like yours. But then we can use ours from March until October, and sometimes even longer, depending on the weather. I guess your season is much shorter there. My neighbors were in theirs in January of this year when it was 80 something degrees here for a few days. We both have thermal blankets that warm them up about 15 degree higher, so that really helps. Don’t have a staycation, but it that like an automatic chlorinator or a Polaris pool sweeper? We have those, but I’ve never heard about the staycation. Guess I could google it.

  262. If they’re doing the whole 10 oclock news blurbs, then Drew definitely bought the bigger PR package.

    At least there’s a $100 coupon.

  263. 1. staycation
A vacation that is spent at one’s home enjoying all that home and one’s home environs have to offers.

  264. There’s a story about the picture on Ch. 2’s website.

    http://cbs2chicago.com/westsuburbanbureau/drew.peterson.guns.2.735212.html

    Guess there’s another picture too:

Another photo shows Peterson posing with other police officers on Bolingbrook’s SWAT team. In the photo, he is holding the AR-15 while standing next to Bolingbrook’s police chief. He claims that proves the police chief knew he had the weapon for use on the job.

Well, again, the pictures speak volumes, according to Brodsky.

Brodsky: Where’s the records that you subpoenaed and “prove” that the gun was registered? Then you won’t have to pay the pr guy all that money to shop the pics around to the tv news stations.

I have a picture of my husband with Scottie Pippin when he was on the security detail before the Bulls’ Grant Park Rally during one of their season championships. Does that count for anything? It’s autographed too!

  266. Ch2 10 pm news-

“Peterson is circulating a photo of himself with JT..all to fight an gun charge……Peterson was assigned to protect JT on a tour. Jb said it will show that this weapon that he is charged with having was in fact his police duty weapon….. DP says size only counts for civilians, at the time the gun was con fiscated he was still a PO. If convicted of UUW he faces 5 years in prison.

  267. I’m on “staycation” mode too, facsmiley. I’m getting to like it a lot. Maybe I can find some more of my husband’s autographed thingys while he was serving and protecting those celebrities, and auction them off on ebay for some pocket money, heh?

  268. “If not we might need to subpoena Mr. Travolta when this case goes to court,” Brodsky says jokingly.
    ************************************

    Famewhore.

  269. Speaking of Fox, they were the only ones already at the BBPD when DP arrived for the gun arrest. They obviously were clued in way ahead. I wonder if that’s part of the PR thing too.

  270. But Rescue, is your hubby holding a gun that they claim is illegal, and is he standing with his Chief of Police that now says he knew nothing about the gun? lol

  271. Rescue- you need to get him in on some trumped up charges of some sort first. If you disappear for a while…….

  272. another pic with no other than the BBPD Chief!!
Well well, yeah I’d say those records JB subpoenaed will take a long time to get to him!!

  273. Nope, gots nuttin with the police chief and biggie guns.

Okay, but my husband WAS on the front page of the Chicago Sun Times once. Does that count for anything? Full page!

Oh, and, once again, I asked him if a cop can own a gun that would be considered illegal if a civilian owned it, and once again he said no.

Guess that only works for Drew Peterson.

  274. liz- I already put out the missing me reports to everyone. If I’m not here for a few days, come a lookin’ for me, okay?

  275. Can someone who goes to the site where Brodsky blogs ask him when he’s expecting to get the subpoenaed records regarding the gun?

  276. I think it’s the police’s chief’s job to ensure his officers are compliant with the weapons laws.
I also think that you cannot deny that this pic with the drew, the weapon and the Chief really hurts the chiefs credibility, even without the records. Is the man blind and he just didn’t see the weapon???
    dirty cop tricks!!

  277. Like John Travolta would want to waste his time coming to Bolingbrook to talk about a gun he probably doesn’t even remember. I can’t believe Brodsky would even consider having him served with a supoena. Guess he thinks he and Drew are celebrities now too and John won’t mind helping them out.

  278. I never saw the police chief deny that Peterson may have carried the gun on the job – he only said that it was never registered as a service weapon with the BBPD. Unless Brodsky can get proof to the contrary, Drew is taking the fall for this alone.

  279. He was joking.

Ok for those that dont like the fact that Brodsky is putting these pictures out there, can I ask why it was ok for the media, and many here to rip Drew apart for the arrest, but not ok for Brodsky to show there might be a different side to the story the DA’s is telling? And the Chief of Police?

  280. Facs, if Drew had that gun, and the Chief of Police in Bolingbrook knew he had that gun, and didn’t do anything about it….rut roh, that could get the Chief in a bit of hot water also.

Knowing that it was illegal, yet he didn’t take it from him right then and there….not good for the trial.

  281. You who’s credibility is going right down the toilet, freedom? Brodsky.

He has a habit of pulling pictures out of his butt that he thinks shows things that aren’t there.

First of all, is it Chief McGury in the “other” pictures? Second of all, Chief McGury was trying to get Drewpy off the job, but he quit before he could do it.

I find it hard to believe Chief McGury is up to dirty cop tricks when he knows what is in the records and what isn’t.

  285. lol on my double post

havent’ seen the other pic yet. that’s probably for tomorrows release to keep us in suspense.

  286. Let, I think we all know why Drew had that picture broadcast, and for Drew’s benefit, I guess it was a smart move to try to show that the gun was on his person while he was onl duty. I can’t remember the name of the chief at the time, but didn’t they (the dept) cover up a lot of things for Drew? And hasn’t this new cheif onl;y been a couple of years? Not to excuse him for anything, but this stuff with this particular gun started about 10 years ago didn’t it? Wasn’t it that long ago when he bought it? Just wonder where he got it/bought it from. Anybody know? Seems like Brodsky said from another indiviual, but I might have dreamed that too.

  287. lol, I love dogs and really could do without ever seeing a cat. well my labs do like chasing cats if one dares to come around.

  288. Road King – a 100th Anniversary Special Edition. BUT, I stay as far away from it as possible. I think it’s great looking, but scares the bejeevers out of me! 289. cfs your dream oh boy now that is funny!
hope you don’t have another! but odd your dream about drew was he was a good guy. or is it?

  290. cfs – that’s what I’m thinking. Chief McGury wasn’t his supervisor at the BB PD when KS was found dead. That was in 2004, right? I don’t know when he took over as Chief, but he made no secret of having an enormous dislike for Drew Peterson. Maybe he’s the one behind the illegal gun issue. Brodsky might have pictures to show DP had this gun and was using it on the job, but this Chief is the one that’s busting his chops! We’ll see.

  291. cfs, I agree, and we’ll have to wait and see who the Chief in the picture is.

I sometime just wonder if this Chief doesnt say things to the media before he has all the information.

And he has backed off recently from all the media, I was giving him credit for that. He was getting a little too close to the FSP clan for my liking.

  292. rescue that is a sweet bike to ride queen on the back!! no better back seat ride then the road king!!
get wild one day and try it out!!

  293. lizanne – I think the other p.o. in the picture with DP is Alex Morelli, his ex-partner. If it is Alex Morelli, he is the one that was one of the witnesses to the Will of DP and KS. However, he is no longer on speaking terms with DP since the disappearance of SP, and the KS matter developed. That was reported on a news station.

  302. Not too many people speaking to DP these days is there? Is it down to the one adult kid and his uncle, and maybe Steve C? His wife has got to been giving him an earful. Because you know she’s catching hell from a lot of people in her life for being married to him.

  303. I’ve had Harley the dog a year now. He’s 2 1/2. As soon as my son and I saw him at the shelter, I told them to “wrap him up, I’m taking him home.” He’s one of those special dogs that happens to come along once in a lifetime. Such a loveable galoot. Easy going, kissy, and sleeps on anything but the floor!

  304. There is an extremely interesting case that might be something you all would be interested in also.

It’s the Mike Mette Story. There is a website set up, The Mike Mette Defense Fund.

    Short story of this:

Mike, a young man, cop with the CPD goes to Iowa to visit his brother and celebrate his brothers birthday with him. A few guys went out for drinks to celebrate. They then go to a “house party” they heard about. Go to the party, and nobody is there. The host, an extremely drunk man, starts harressing them about not bringing women with them. They decided to leave. As they are walking down the street the drunk host comes chasing after them. Mike Mette was shoved a couple of times, and finally had enough, and he punched the guy. The guy goes flying back. Drunk guys goes the hospital, and his family, very important people in Dubuque, claim his injuries are possibly life threatening.

Mike Metter is arrested and charged with assault.

The Judge in ruling said “drunk guy was the aggressor, and Mike Mette should have known better”. Known better than what, to protect himself?

    He is sentenced to prison.

A couple of weeks ago he does to the prison infermary complaining of lower right side stomach pain and general overall sickness. Nurse tells him he’s ok and gives him a laxative and sents him back to his cell. He never feels better and on tuesday is really sick. Take him back and another nurse sends him straight the hospital, and he had a burst appendix (sp) with a major infection running through his body. They try to control it before surgery, cant really do it, and end up having to operate. He is still in the hospital.

Drunk guy has since had a few more run in’s with the cops and amazing he is always set free.

Great, sad, tragic case to watch.

  305. night freedom, it is getting late.

    who’s in CST here?

Maybe Bash will come out and play tonight. It’s only 8:24 in Alaska. Was that Anchorage she’s in?

  306. lizanne61 // May 28, 2008 at 11:21 pm

Not too many people speaking to DP these days is there?

And his lawyers. Other than these few, he really doesn’t seem to have many friends, except his barfly groupies. Sometimes I feel sorry for him….a little.

  307. I think the friends dropping thing happens in a lot of cases, they just dont want any part of it.

    *************

Ah, yes, now that officer we know about. That one we will never understand. I am sorry to hear about the appendix issue you just mentioned.

That is a tragic case to watch, and it distresses me.

  309. Liz, I don’t think Bash has gone more than a day without posting on this case since it broke. Just can’t imagine what’s up, but I hope she’s okay.

  310. Rescue, you and me both….see we can agree on something.

They are planning a caravan to protest at the start of the Dubuque County Fair.

Oh and another tidbit. He was set for a parole hearing in April I believe. We all sent letters in etc. Just days before it, they said to him, “you need to take another class/program for anger” or something to that effect. He said fine, sign me up and they said “It doesnt start until September, and its a 6 month class”

    Talk about jaking someone around.

  311. cfs, it was the Judge and the Justice system up there, and since drunk guy has connections with his Dad, Mike now sits in a hospital, waiting to heal and go back to prison.

  312. Let, do you know if it was Truthisthere that said he/she was FBI? Somebody with Truth in their name said they were, that’s why I thought it was you.

Makes you wonder how Drew can be walking around free while this policeman is in jail for pushing someone down, huh?

  313. Truth, sounds like there’s an Iowa Machine working there. Need to expose someone. You know like a gay toilet scene with the judge or something.

God my imagination is working overtime today.

  314. LTTBF – Honestly, I have a hard time even talking about or thinking about that young cop. What happened to him made me sick at the time, and it still makes me sick. Yeah, he gets the shaft, and that evil prince of darkness thumbs his nose at everyone, including LE, and gets away with it. Go figure.

  315. I personally cant believe someone that comes onto a forum and tells you they are with the FBI, little odd to me.

  316. Yes, he hired the wrong lawyer. Out of town, how would you know the one’s on the in? Did the CPD support him?

  317. letthetruthbefree // May 28, 2008 at 11:44 pm

Rescue…go to Iowa with us in July….

    ***********

I drive back and forth to East Dubuque once a month or so to see my elderly mom.

Remind me later. Is it going to be in FOP newsletter?

  318. cfs-
sorry I missed your first post, I have a short screen and lose things if a lot are posting at once.

  319. Oh no, not yelling. Was just wondering why Liz had Truthisthers in all caps. This poster said they were FBI. I couldn’t remember if is was Letthetruth, or Truthisthere, or who to tell you the truth.

  320. Liz, yes…of course, since he was convicted he lost his job. But the FOP has supported him. There was a rally for him, and everyone was there. Dick Devine, Dennis Ferrano, all the chaplain from the CPD, I could go on and on.

Mike Mette is very much thought of, loved and supported.

John Kass from the Tribune has done many stories on him. Anderson Cooper did a story also, along with many other local news special assignement reporters.

  321. Rescue I would think it would be. You can always check the site also. It will be a day trip thing, just to give Mike a voice.

But I will pass on any information I hear.

  322. The case does sound familar. I have a friend last name mette and fireman in melrose park. I’ll have to check into that.

    Probably read Kass, too.

How long has he been in?

  323. He went in Oct 2007. Just look up the Mike Mette Defense Fund, everything is there.

And notice I called Dick Devine, Dick Devine and not Pete’s dad….lol.

  324. Let, what could possibly done to get this guy out of jail? Is he just going to have to serve his time, including that course they blindsided him with?

  325. Here’s a piece I found regarding Chief McGury and Drew Peterson (11/20/2007). I am thinking this gun issue may be part of this.
    *******

As soon as Wednesday, the chief said he will meet with prosecutors to review a series of department violations that the chief says may rise to a level of criminal conduct.

    http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local&id=5777049

Bolingbrook’s top cop, Raymond McGury, says Drew Peterson, 53, has brought disgrace and disdain on his department while soaking up the national spotlight as a suspect in his 23-year-old wife Stacy’s disappearance. McGury says his former sergeant has demonstrated conduct unbecoming an officer.

  326. He’s serving his time. I believe it was a five year sentence. Of course its on appeal, but he has to sit in prison waiting for the appeal.

People have called for our Elected State Official to call those in Iowa, but short of parole, or the conviction being overturned he has to sit.

And he is one sick man right now. They were able to get the appendix out, which is amazing considering the infection, but he is still in the hospital.

  327. Facs, I thought that at first, but then someone asked and he/she said yes they were.

Who knows though. I would doubt an active FBI agent would want to spend much time on message boards….lol.

  328. Good link Rescue. He was being looked at for doing background checks and using the police data base for unrelated to work things. Plus the high speed chase thing, and who knows what else. Oh yeah, the assault weapon. all the phone records and memory checks during his logged in time on the PD computers. The list of circumstantial evidence I think will be plenty.

  329. freedom08 // May 28, 2008 at 10:42 pm

    ******************************

Does anyone know the date of the picture of Drew and John Travolta? The current Bolingbrook police chief, McGury, has only been with the Bolingbrook PD for two years prior to when Stacy disappeared.

If that picture was taken prior to 2005, before Chief McGury, took over, all the chief can do is go by the records he has at his disposal. If he went through the records and the AR-15 is not registered with the dept., he’s accurate that it’s not a weapon that’s part of the department’s equipment.

If Drew was using it as part of his SWAT equipment, he may have been doing so without department authority.

  330. This is part of Danya’s article, at the top. That picture was probably around 2000-2001. That’s when Battleship Earth was released. Way, way before Chief McGury’s time.

The Bolingbrook Police Department has said it has no record of the weapon. Brodsky has asked to subpoena the department for all records that might show Peterson qualified with the weapon. The department has said those records do not exist.

  331. Liz, most cops will run people for unrelated work things. And if people tell you they don’t, they are full of bs.

I have yet to meet one that wouldnt run someone for a friend as a favor.

    It happens all the time.

  332. I dont think they said when the picture with the Chief was dated, I want to see that picture.

  333. LTTBF – Yeah, but I’ll betcha he was doing background checks on people that Stacy associated with. Like that Scott Rosetto guy. I don’t think it would’ve gotten noticed otherwise. It probably happened to catch the eye of the Chief when he saw the name and it later came out that he knew SP.

I may be wrong, but that’s what I’m thinking about the background checks.

  334. I agree Molly, just because he was using it does not mean it was okayed. The chief said that he did not qualify with it yearly. I think they keep pretty good records about that.

I will post that question to JB about when he’s expecting the subpoenaed BBPD records. His answer to my Bindy Rock question was DP had last had contact with him 10 years ago “he arrested him, and testified at his trial.” That doesn’t seem accurate. Don’t think he arrested him for that Joliet cop-killing at the liquor warehouse thing. Was there another arrest?

  335. But you agree Rescue that most do it.

And if they are going to look at Drew’s usage of the computers for personal reasons, I would be nervous to be any other BB cop right now….they could all face a suspension.

  336. Oh I know they do it, but it was just one of the violations they were going to try to get DP for.

JB himself even said at one time that they all do it. I used to have a friend……

  337. Well hopefully there’s a memory of the computer of who he ran things on. That might contribute a lot about his thought processes

  338. As I said I would be scared if I was a BBPD cop right now, if they are looking into personal use information running….Yicks.

If that picture of Drew and John Travolta was taken in 2000/2001, it would have been long before Chief McGury took over.

I remember reading that Chief McGury was brought to Bolingbrook to clean up the PD, due to corruption within the dept.
So all McGury has to go on are the records he has access to.

If he wasn’t there at the time, (when the picture of Drew and JT was taken), he doesn’t know if the former police chief “looked the other way” if SWAT team members used guns not registered with the dept.

That doesn’t make it legal, but it would explain why there’s no record of the gun registered with the Bolingbrook PD, and yet a picture of Drew with the gun.
