  1. An Interesting quote from a Time article:

    http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1821646,00.html

    “The horribleness of commenters isn’t really a mystery: Internet anonymity is disinhibiting, and people are basically mean anyway”

    “Last month a woman who worked for the Stranger, an alternative weekly in Seattle, quit in a huff. She had been writing for the paper’s blog, the Slog. The problem was the comments people were making on her posts. She couldn’t stand them anymore. “The word I would use is cruel,” she wrote in her sign-off.

    Actually, if cruel was all they were, she got off pretty easy. For all the hype about Flickr and YouTube and Twitter and whatever else is putting “Web 2.0″ in its business plan these days, the most ubiquitous form of user-generated content (to employ a phrase that just won’t die) is the humble comment. Web publishers have begun to offer commenting on everything–posts, videos, pictures, whatever–like it was a kind of interactive condiment. Now practically anything on the Web collects comments the way a whale collects barnacles.

    In theory, it’s a great thing. We’re giving the people a voice! But the reality is that commenting either attracts loathsome people or somehow causes ordinary people to express themselves in a way that is loathsome…”

  2. Rescue, sorry in delay in answering you…Superman thinks I am obsessed and he is too busy playing with his model trains to much care unfortunately …

    Please get this message out:
    The person who is trying to register under my name at the “http://drewpetersonforum.smfforfree4.com” blog is an imposter. I did not try to register at that site.
    ________________

    Don’t forget he is a lawyer, even a poor one at that. If you read what he says , he says “I did not try”…………..he didn’t say, “I am not the poster” and he continual uses the word “try”. To the person who is”trying” to register. From what I’ve heard that poster DID register. So my direct question to Brodsky would be, “Did YOU register at drewpetersonforum.smfforfree4.com?”

  5. Lavanda … that’s what I said: he did not “try” … he succeeded.

    Now I’m still waiting to here from Bash on why she is sure that is Joel.

    Wake up, Bash!

  6. If anyone is out there and is a member of SYM, could you tell me if you can open the site?

    I can get in but I can’t click on any of the topics and get in … keeps throwing me back to Stacy/Kathleen.

  7. Well, I’m not a member of that site so I don’t have a clue. For those who put credence in Ashley having ISP access, from what I know is that particular forum (Google Blogger) that she is running (the blog) does not contain ISP access to those that set up shop there. She has hers through the visitor counter that she embedded in that blog. Problem is, as you all have seen, it’s not accurate in determining for sure if a poster has made a post prior, or not. It’s just not that accurate. It showed me in Connecticut. lol.

    The next problem is, when she does ban an ISP number…she could invariably be banning many others at the same time who fall under the same ISP number. In other words, let’s say Drew is typing in Bolingbrook. There could be about 55 others in her blog from the same “location” and the ISP coverage is pretty wide. Thus if she bans “LucyIceSkater”, she could also be banning hundreds if not more posters.
    Keep in mind, she has a handful of people at that site. Far from hundreds. Which is why it becomes a dead zone for periods of times. When she banned the ISp of say, Feisty, she probably got rid of about 4 or 5 of her supporters, as well. Which I’ve noticed is why she reinstates the ISP’s after a day or so. LOL. So much for her programming skills.
    As the poster stated at her site, it’s Programming for Dummies. Any real computer programmer or web designer would laugh at starting a blog at Google Blogger. It’s so “first grade”.

  8. As for setting up a working forum, I had absolutely zero skills in forum set-up’s and it took me exactly 3 hours to get mine up in running. Her’s seems to be taking days. lol

  9. Poll:

    How many 29 year old’s heard of the show, or familiar without questioning, “Knots Landing” ? LOL No. I believe “Ashley” is far older than she states. Nothing she says should be taken for more than a “grain of salt”. Including her “I was approached by a source” (probably Ntl. Enq. and their offer was probably no more than $500. LOL. Not worth divulging that she is a 53 year old grandmama with a sagging bum, eh?

  10. Lavanda – the one thing Ashley can do on Blogspot is to see if IPs match. So she can see who is posting under multiple names and also if someone claims to be new, she can see if they have posted before.

    Bear in mind there is a difference between ISP and IP. No two computers should have the same IP address (unless they are on the same router). ISP is merely your Internet Service Provider like Verizon or AOL, etc. That’s easy to determine but not helpful at all in pinpointing a single user.

    The Simple Machines forum site offers more in the way of collecting and managing data than her blog does.

    _______________-

    Yes, correct. Which is why I believe the counters can only ban by ISP, not IP. Which is why I said a lot more people would lose access. Course it doesn’t matter anyhow. No biggie. She has every right to ban whomever she wants to ban. It’s her site.

  13. OK, I see what you are saying Lavanda. Sorry, I didn’t get it before. We’ve seen people try to do it before and end up banning scads at one time. 🙂

  14. I wonder…Who could that possibly be..LMAO
    ——————————————
    I dunno-it will be a huge surprise. LMFAO!

    I love it-THE SKUNK OF BOLINGBROOK!

  15. Well wasn’t that just great Matt backed off the statement that Drew wanted to pin Kathleens death on Stacy.

    That might be right!! I hope gatehouse does a story on this.

  19. An anonymous chatter asked me to post this. t’s not a bad idea IMO.

    Call the governor’s office Monday morning and ask that the hearsay law be signed immediately.
    217-782-0244 or 312-814-2121

    I did double-check those telephone numbers. The first one just rang and rang; the second one I did get the office of the Illinois governor.

  20. lol @ too-carefully touseled hair … reminds me of that character Somebody Lockhart in the Harry Potter movie.

    He was the teacher all the girls had a crush on but he never did any of the things he said he did or got credit for.

    😀

    Thanks MBS for the link!! I listened to it again and the puke phelps says they said it then he retracts it on Geraldo. Still shaking my head, oh and it looks far better then his poffy crap.

  23. Ok, I listened to Geraldo again. He did not make the statement that they wanted to pin the murder of Stacy on Kathleen on there and when asked about it skated around it and Geraldo let him get away with it. So I guess his radio statement still stands. It was a very confusing conversation.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Yes I caught that too.
  25. Hey everybody. Just got in and caught up. When I saw the initial posts here regarding Phelps, I couldn’t believe it.
    I just watched the repeat of the Geraldo show. Phelps was on all of 1 minute. He said what he got from the gist of the conversation with Peterson was that he wanted him to write a book pretty much trashing Kathleen and Stacy.
    I did not hear him say he is retracting any prior statements. So, I am confused by all of this.
    What I heard him say was that DP didn’t want money from the proceeds, he wanted it to go into a trust for his children, the writer says he took got from the interview that DP wants to trash Kathleen and Stacy, and JB hasn’t been paid any money yet. What am I missing here?
  26. Oh, it’s late. Excuse my mistake.
    …the writer says he got from the interview that DP wants to trash Kathleen and Stacy…..
  27. Yes, Noway, I think that would be a good idea now. The tapes speak for themselves, and it sounds as though Phelps’ interpretation is the book is to be about Kathleen and Stacy, but not in a good light.
    Just a thought – if this book is, as Phelps says, one that is written from Drew Peterson’s point of view, what is he going to say? That Kathleen and Stacy were pure as the driven snow? He’s certainly not going to say he was a horrible husband and they were complete innocents. Come on, we need to use common sense here.
  28. Yes, facsmiley. I would venture to say that if you listen to his radio interview and the GR interview, they’re probably very similar. That is, he is giving his interpretation of what DP wants the writer to do with the book.
    I didn’t hear him say he is retracting anything.
    Knot’s Landing repeats are on Soapnet every day so maybe she saw it there? Soapnet is on DirectTV and most cable too. I don’t know, maybe she saw it there?
  30. lol
    She was on the computer for Pete’s sake.
    She could have just googled “Knots Landing” to figure out what the heck Drew was talking about.
    😀
  31. IF she is a 53 year old grandmama with a sagging bum, that makes it funnier to think of Drew chatting away with her. IMO 😉
