    Did Drew have ‘folding gun’?
    July 16, 2008Recommend

    By JOE HOSEY jhosey@scn1.com
BOLINGBROOK — Friends of Drew Peterson’s family say they held on to the embattled ex-cop’s folding gun after the state police missed it during a search of his home three days after his wife vanished.

Peterson’s attorney, Joel Brodsky, has denied the existence of any “folding gun,” and even mocked Peterson’s former friend Ric Mims on the “Nancy Grace” show after Mims accused Peterson of flashing the gun to him and saying, “Hey, (the police) didn’t find this one.”

Mims said Peterson then started “chuckling.”

On the show, Brodsky called the claim “simply another fabrication of slick Ric Mims” and said, “He’s trying to sell another story to the National Enquirer now that he’s run out of money.”

    Another gun claim

But other friends of Peterson, husband and wife Paula Stark and Len Wawczak, say the folding gun does exist and that Peterson signed it over to Stark the day after the state police pulled Peterson’s firearm owner’s identification card.
Stark and Wawczak made the admission after being confronted with a state police evidence receipt for a Ruger .357 Magnum revolver and a North American Arms .22-caliber revolver seized from their home March 19. Stark’s name is on the receipt.

The couple said the .22 is the folding gun Mims spoke of on “Nancy Grace.”

“It was the same gun Ric Mims identified,” Stark said.

    Handwritten contract

Stark also produced a handwritten contract for the “Transpher of 1 North American Arms Corp. S.S. .22 cal revolver” from Drew Peterson to Paula Stark dated Feb. 28 — shortly after the state police revoked Peterson’s FOID card and right after he returned from New York City, where he was appearing on the “Today” show. Stark and Wawczak watched Peterson’s children while he was in New York.
Wawczak said Peterson wrote out the transfer for Stark while sitting at the desk in his home office.

Stark and Wawczak say they took the gun home but lost it less than a month later when state cops stopped by their Meadowbrook Drive home to seize Stark’s Ruger after her FOID was suspended for listing an inaccurate date of birth and an outdated address.

The police also found a .22, which folds into its own handle, and pegged it as Peterson’s, Wawczak said.

Peterson said he’s done nothing wrong, as he simply “signed (the gun) over to them after they took my gun card away.”

    Lawyer disputes claims

Brodsky said he was under the impression Peterson transferred a “derringer” “some time” before losing his FOID card.
“He never had a gun after they took away his FOID card,” Brodsky said, while insisting Peterson never possessed the “folding gun” Mims spoke of.

“This whole folding gun thing is ridiculous,” Brodsky said. “I know Drew has told me there’s never been anything about a folding gun.”

Does anyone remember these 2 ?
I remember a stocky blonde geting into a vehicle telling media, its none of your buisness, when she was asked a question.

  2. was she the blonde seen coming out of the court house? with a guy who later turned out to be hosey? im truly not sure.

  3. From Joel Brodsky: Lenny and Paula are friends of Drew. I don’t believe he had any buisness with them (at least not of any substantial nature).
    _____________
Perhaps transfering a weapon after your FOID card has been revoked is not substantial.

Guess it’s a matter of opinion?

    😉

  4. Joel’s post was in response to a blogger asking: Joel who is Lenny and Paula and did Drew ever have any business deals with them?

  5. Yo everyone

    Noway- insomnia? poor you!

There are a couple of extra comments in the SunTimes version of this story…..Len whining that LE are just trying to “break their balls” because they’re frinds of Drew. (Paula, hon…he thinks you have balls!)

Maybe you do…did you lie on your FOID application? Can’t remember your birthdate? Len not got a FOID?

  6. Noway

I guess there is a difference between “substantial” (quantity) and “significant” (quality). Then again, looks like “substantial significance” regarding proof of lies (again)

  7. What a relief for the good people of Bolingbrook that he’s not still armed and patroling their streets at night.

Interesting article. So, Ric was not lying about this gun. I can’t wait to hear how JB spins this one. 😉

  9. JB may be glad DP’s leaving town so that at least he can fight the fires without new outright lies. He won’t be having a quiet time, though, court again tomorrow re Savio probate.

  10. I’ve asked Ashley this morning if she’ll be posting more today, and she says yes, on the old site.

  11. Amanda, I just logged on to your site, but didn’t think I had ever activated my membership from months ago when Kimmer gave me the link. Was surprised I could even get in, but it worked! Thank you again for the Happy Birthday. Will probably be visiting your site some now that I know I am a bonafide member. 😀

  12. Happy Birthday, CFS! Hope the day brings you all that it should, Good Stuff! Enjoy, do something nice for yourself!

  13. There is another slightly different article by Joe Hosey which says that the contract to transfer the gun was written by Drew in front of Paula, Lenny and Kris … Drew’s son.

Wonder if he said something to the GJ … and if he did … is he LYING too Joel?

  14. CFS – Happy Bday! yes, we pretty much approve everyone. There are a few “problem children” that we have identified, but even then, we give em a chance.

  15. Just want to again say thank you all for the birthday wishes. 😀

Will probably not be back online until tomorrow. You all have a great day!

  16. This new article also confirms to me that LE knows/has WAAAAAAYYYYY more information about this case than has been shared with the public. A very good thing! 😉

I do wonder about Kris being present when the transfer was written. Whether he just happened to be there, or if his father asked him “witness” it. Curious, as with most things in this case. 😕

  17. I am sure that is one of the reasons Kris had to go back to the GJ.

Something else. No one knows but that gun might have been used to kill Stacy.

I wonder if that ever crossed Kris’s mind when he watched his dad sell it.

What kind of creeps would take and a gun like that from a suspected murderer?

  18. Not sure about anyone else, but this was the first I have even heard of these people.

It is kind of creepy and slimy that they took the gun and did not go to LE. LE had to go to them. Again, telling me they know alot. I will say for Ric, at least he went to LE with what he knew.

Maybe it’s just me, but if a murder suspect wanted to transfer their gun to me……. I would go to LE. I Would not want ANY part of it.

I also have to wonder what the hell JB was thinking when he denied that the gun even existed. 😕 Clearly it does exist!

  19. Happy Birthday CFS!
    ——————————————
I guess Drew must be in bigger trouble. Transferring a weapon after you lose your FOID card is a big no-no. Are there charges pending against Paula and Lenny?

There is a picture of a blonde woman and a male the day the cars were picked up. The man resembled Robinson-IMO.

So, Paula and Lenny watched the children when Drew went to NY. Tight group? Were they called before the GJ?

  20. Drew doesn’t care that what he did was illegal; after all, he is above the law, isn’t he? He is the big no-no kid.

  21. Amanda – I am not registered at your site, I wouldn’t know the answer to this.

Is is a requirement that anyone who registers there must provide their date of birth? If so, do you wish ALL members a Happy Birthday, such as you did this morning with CFS. See, because, I have never seen you wish anyone a Happy Birthday here.

Just might want to let other “dual” members know that you do so without asking them first.

    Duckyone

They’re doing their best. What’s “classless” is your crticism. Looks rilly rilly MEAN. It’s not unlike turning up at a wake and throwing furniture around and insulting the mourners. Shame on all the FSP haters.
    ——————————————————-
Excuse me? I am NOT a FSP hater! I am not, really, really, mean! I have been very supportive of the “mourners.” How dare you talk to me like that? I have asked with great CLASS, I have offered to help with CLASS, and I have questioned them with CLASS, I donated with CLASS. Funny how I had all kinds of CLASS when they were taking my money?

“Their doing their best” Well, maybe THEY should post something on their site about what they ARE doing. Maybe they should answer my emails as to what they are doing and have done with the money that I have donated. I have NOT called the IRS. Like I said many, many times in my posts, I believe that they need to get a lawyer to help them with this situation, because “THEIR BEST” isn’t working! They are not abiding by the laws of the state of Il. and they are certainly not in line with the Federal laws.

Just because someone questions where THEIR money went, doesn’t mean that they hate FSP. That is what is wrong with the pea brained people that can’t see both sides and want them to be on the up and up, and also want Stacy found! It’s not an either or for me! I won’t speak for others.

If you are so close to the family and know that they are “doing their best,” maybe you can get them to give us an update on their TAX/non-profit status. Can you please ask them why they took MY money and 20 other people’s for a specifice billboard to be put in a specific place and that billboard never happened? The money was not refunded to us, although it was solely intended for a specific billboard on a specific highway.

Like I said yesterday, a very good friend of mine gave her GROCERY money for that billboard and was never given an explanation. I know one person that donated their entire tax return of $1500.00. Please don’t tell me that I, nor the people that I know that gave to FoSP are classless, we have way more class than you! We donated, we care, and contrary to what you believe, we are LEGALLY within our rights to ask where OUR money went and how it was spent. We are LEGALLY allowed to ask for the correct TAX ID number, non-profit status etc.

Fuzz came on a board the other day and said that she would give us an update. I was really hoping that she would be able to get information. I haven’t trashed her for not doing so, nor would I. She didn’t come back and answer even though she is on the board of FoSP. Why is it SO hard to just answer the questions?

Like I said yesterday, I will find a lawyer that will do it pro-bono. It’s not that difficult. I have this sinking feeling that the reason that they don’t have a lawyer handling it is due to some misuse or collecting donations when you are not legally allowed to solicit them. IMO-that would make me grab a lawyer to help, not Anthony and Sharon handling it. JMO

The only reason that I brought this up yesterday was because there is a flyer that was just released for another fundraiser to solicit funds for Stacy. I WANT FOSP TO HAVE THEIR DUCKS IN A ROW! I WANT STACY FOUND. I WANT TO GIVE WITHOUT QUESTION. I WANT MY QUESTIONS ANSWERED.

Did you hear me now, bucket?

Sorry to bring this up today, but I will not let someone talk so poorly of me. I do not bash anyone, nor was I classless in asking and inquiring, nor do I speak to anyone in the way that bucket talked to me.

  23. Rescue, I am not sure if you are a member at any of the Proboard forums, but yes, you do as a part of registration have to fill in DOB.

I would assume then, that there has been no one else here that is a member at her forum using the same nic who happened to have a birthday, bu I’m sure Amanda will answer you directly to confirm my assumption.

  24. You know it is very sad the only people searching for Stacy are a small group of people from FoSP.

Do you think we should ask them to stop?

I am sure Drew and Brodsky would love that.

Yes, rescue. They also have to tell me their ssn and have a valid credit card on file. Also I require new members to donate to my Paypal account.

Happy Birthday to you, rescue. Whenever it might be. Hope it is a good day.

  26. Thanks teneleven. I was just curious, because with all of the misunderstandings going on here lately, I was surprised myself to see Amanda specifically wish CFS a Happy Birthday, when I’ve never seen that done here before, especially since registration here doesn’t require that information.

    Hey, teneleven and ducky…

    TALK.

PLEASE. Feel free to say what you think. It seriously takes some heat off me, and dang it is a hottie today.

You dang well better be wishing ME a happy birthday come August.

The eyes of the blogging nation are on ya now. 😉

    That’s all I have to say. 😀

    Excep … happy birthday CFS!

  31. Upthread… about the pic of Paula/Lenny…
I couldn’t find the one picking up cars, but I did find this one, dunno if it is the right couple, but it was captioned “Drew’s friends”.

    h ttp://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm166/crankycrankerson/zfriendsatgj.jpg

  32. I am at work and have to take care of business. Sorry, if I ticked you guys off by my long post. My feathers were ruffled.

Sorry Cfs for ruining your birthday!

Bucket-before you run your mouth about the “mourners,” you might want to get your facts straight. The first fundraiser was at a bar, the second one at a restaurant/bar, the third was at a “fun” facility. I’m going to give you this bit of information that a “friend” told me. Anthony L. is in charge of the financials, he is in charge of getting the legal paperwork done, and after each and every fundraiser, he gets a call from the “family”, in the morning to find out how much they made online (FSP site) as he’s in charge of pay-pal. So, if the family is getting the amounts the night of the fundraisers and bright and early the next morning, I doubt that they care that WE, the ones that donated, are asking months later. I’m not saying that they aren’t “mourning,” but their FIRST concern after the fundraisers is to find out how much money they raised.

Do not speak of things that you do not know as fact. 😉

Amanda-I’m not doing this to help you. Don’t take that the wrong way. Also, I am not a Kimmer member, as I have been accused.

I need to get my LEGAL work done or I might be offering pro-bono work 😉

Happy Birthday CFS! I hope it’s a great one!

  33. Amanda, totally and completely echo Duckyone’s post upthread. Which I think is ultimately what you have been saying/asking/expressing, just that yours sometimes have a more – a more – colorful tone to them.

  34. iknoweverythinglol // July 16, 2008 at 1:08 pm

You know it is very sad the only people searching for Stacy are a small group of people from FoSP.

Do you think we should ask them to stop?

I am sure Drew and Brodsky would love that.
    ************************************

Exactly, people who have concerns with FOSP would do well do deal with them in a legal and pro-active way – but going to the message boards just plays into Brodsky’s hands.

Like that dummy BigM, who claims to believe that drew is guilty but then surrenders up his board to Joel, in effect becoming a mouthpiece for the defense. He’s so flattered to have the attention that he doesn’t mind being puppet for the defense.

And I might mention here that when people are calling others ‘idiots’ for supporting Ashley and thus, somehow in some convoluted way endangering the lives of Drew’s children, that you lose all respect when you yourself, on this blog elicited a statement from a potential star witness and then attempted to pimp it out to the press. Amanda.

  35. I even dream in color.

I hear ya, ducky. No, I know you are not in cahoots with me, or kimmer, or lavanda, or anyone else who wants to know where the hell our money really went to, because that $500/day plane fuel boat fuel lodging dogs bullshit never happened. AND, to top it off the fund isn’t even legally registered.

I don’t even want to comment on the last post content.

I’d have to wash out my own mouth. Er, fingers.

  36. Duckyone

I apologize for tking a tone. I firmly assert, however, that it’s pointless going on and on and on about the fund. No one here can help you. I’m sorry it’s been a bad experience for you, but what is the point?

Send them a registered letter. Or call the police. How would you feel to see JB quoting you to try to discredit Sharon the Witness?

It’s not personal. I, also, made a substantial contribution and don’t care how they spent it because her friends and family are the ones who are the ones living through the loss and trying to find Stacy. And that’s why I gave it to them.

Yeah, it would be nice to be able to confirm their ducks are in place this minute….although I haven’t heard of any of them being arrested for fraud yet, either.

It’s not the real issue, is it?

  37. It is an issue bucket of tea.

Just as I have heard here over and over how Ashley’s chats can go to “character”

    So can misappropriation of funds.

    THEY NEED TO RESOLVE IT.

Really for the good of this case.

  38. Teneleven

I see that point, but surely they’re aware of it, too? I just think that the subject’s been done to death and I cringe every time it comes up…cringe on behalf of Cass’s feelings.

  39. amandareckonwith // July 16, 2008 at 1:27 pm

I promise I will noway, and since I have your cc # I will send you a nice bouquet!
    ____________
    😀
Be sure and wish “Lenny” and happy birthday too that day. I see we share the same birthday … except I am older.

Unless like Paula, he too lies about his age. 😉

  40. Come on facs…
Do you mean I asked Neil a question and that he answered it?

Everyone is permitted to ask questions.

What is a potential star witness doing posting here?

Same as why is Brodsky posting online?

    Do not threaten me. EVER.
I will say the truth. You cannot stop me. The truth has an ugly way of getting heard, even if it takes a while.

When I am wrong, I do not mind saying so. I am not always right, I am human and I do dumb stuff every now and then.

I am very sorry that you took offense to “idiot” because it seems to have driven your bitterness straight to your fingertips. Even your friends notice.

If I am wrong about this fund, I will stand on a corner with a sign asking for donations for FoSP. How would that be?
I might even help with a fundraiser, it is my expertise running events. I could do that.
    *if* I am wrong.

*if* YOU are wrong, I expect nothing; but you will still hate me and badmouth me and try to humiliate me. Good thing I can spell and punctuate.

  41. Oh my goodness, I had to “peek.” Bucket, I accept your apology. This is a BLOG and if their is miappropriation of funds, tax fraud, tickets written off, drinking and driving etc.. IT DOESN’T matter. Whatever the TRUTH is will come out. Why hide from it? If Sharon and the others have “ruined” themselves as witnesses because they are “crooked” (I’m not saying they are), then it will come out and it’s not our fault. It’s the board of FoSP. If they don’t have their ducks in a row, then they are solely, SOLELY to blame. Wouldn’t you think that they wouldn’t put out another fundraiser flyer until they had their ducks lined up? So, if we know that there is illegal stuff on any of these people, it’s only ok to talk about it here if it HELP the case? Wait, only THEY and their actions are responsible for themselves. Your “logic” escapes me. Other people don’t ruin them as witnesses, they do that all by themselves, if THAT happens. Don’t you think that here comment to “bite me” will hurt her as a witness? Who’s fault is that? Really. THEY ARE DOING THIS TO THEMSELVES!

So, can Facs and bucket please tell us what we are allowed to discuss so we don’t hurt the witnesses credibility? Please include all the negative things that we should say about Drew and Joel, we don’t want to upset the blog. I looked in the blog rules and I guess that Danya left that chapter out. I can’t stand Drew Peterson, I think that he killed both wives, but my brain is big enough to process all information. Trust me, the people that are associated with this case ALL have pasts. So what?

Ducking out for sure this time.

  42. My apologies Amanda. You didn’t try to pimp it out to the press, that was someone else (truthishere).

You just questioned him and then gave the address of your forum, so he could tell you more:

    Neil // May 2, 2008 at 9:21 am
    Amanda,

I did not go to the cops in August but I did go as soon as Stacy disappeared in October. The only reason I did not go in August was because Stacy was deeply afraid for her safety. I simply honored her request. She was more afraid to report it than to simply try to live with the man.

Now does anyone have any idea why this isn’t a news story? Pastor Neil Schori is blogging on WordPress and tells Amanda he did not go to the police until Stacy went missing. He had never said that before in any statement. He says the only interview he ever gave was the Greta one. You can read it and see for yourself.

  43. From Bucket: “cringe on behalf of Cass’s feelings.”

You might want to check her “feelings” before posting something that you know nothing about. Quit pulling the “Cass’s” feelings card. Really. My sympathy for her is enormous, but you do not know the truth about her feelings about the money raised.

Sending myself to the corner and signing off. I know, I said that before. 🙂

  44. Ducky….

I hope you read this eventually….
Thanks for your acknowledement. I apprecitae it. I don’t want to annoy my chat-mates, and what you say does make sense.(Tho I didn’t really understand the stuff about the amounts taken at fundraisers…I’ll go back and read it again.)

Maybe I souldn’t have gone there at all, because I think there’s lots of “history” in this matter that I’m not privy to.

But there you go…it’s JMO that I think this could be “put by”.

  45. Oh bum, ducky.

It’s not a card, I’m not playing anything, but I excuse you saying that because I’m the one who upset you in the first place.

If they are crooked, and it’s ll their fault, etc, why don’t you go to the police?

    OK, I’m done.

  46. Yeah bucket,

I’m just lumping together all the examples of self-interested people who don’t care if they obstruct justice.

  47. Actuall, thanks for bringing my posts to Neil here, facs.

It shows that I tried to derail the topic and go private.

    The context was:
Someone had been saying Stacy knew all along about Kathleen. All along I said “Oh no she did not, she could not would not… etc”

When Neil confirmed that Stacy knew, I sensed a LOT of trouble. I sensed that DP and JB could use this to their advantage as well.

  48. The true colors show when you say “I’m so jealous” because BigM ‘got’ Brodsky to post on his board.

    +++++++++++++++++++++
I certainly do not expect a blog or forum to bring any resolution to finding Stacy, finding Kathleen’s killer or the currently illegal solicitation of funds.

Honestly, the only thing these blogs and forums do is bring light to the case, offer information to those that may be interested and keep the word out on the case.

I’m sick of hearing what an inept attorney Joel is, but since he’s a public part of this case, I don’t complain and tell posters to send him a “hooked on phonics” tape…I just read it and move on. I’m sure there are writers and lurkers here that enjoy reading about Joel’s stupidity…personally I don’t. Nor do I take it upon myself to admonish the writers that choose to put it out there.

That said…the FSoP funds are just as big of a part of this case as Stacy, Drew and Kathleen.

  50. I consulted with my tax preparer and discovered the following information:

    1. According to IRS statistics 1-2% of returns are audited.

    2. There is no space on a schedule A, line 16 for TIN #’s or names of charities, just a box where the total of ALL charitable monies are notated.

    3. Tax professionals should consult IRS Publication 78 to verify all charitible organizations.

    4. Charitable organizations are NOT required to provide their TIN or EIN # according to schedule A.

    5. Charitable donations over $250.00 should receive a letter of acknowledgement from the organization.

    6. In the unlikely event of an audit, proof of your donation ie: canceled check, Paypal reciept etc. would suffice. The onus would then be on the organization to account for said donation.

What I get is, just like I said, I needed no TIN# or letter or what not when I filed my return, only my own receipts for my own record keeping, in the unlikely even of an audit.

However, I would consult your own individual tax preparers for your own advice.

Mine assures me that I have nothing to worry about.

  51. Posters on message boards cannot obstruct justice. None of us who regularly read here and post here are part of this.

If they are part of the case, they just screw themselves for incredibility and fame-hunger.

  53. Amanda – you can paint it up all you want, but it remains that you were interfering and trying to pump a potential witness for information. The fact that you tried to entice him to talk to you alone makes it, if anything, more suspect.

It worked a little bit, didn’t it? You were so proud.

  54. This is just crazy. I also donated. I don’t give a crap how they spent the money. I did it because I wanted to, and I felt good about doing it. 🙂

I guess I missed the part that said “If you donate – you have the right to bitch endlessly about how we spent the money.”

A piece about Scott Peterson was on the Today show this morning. He is soliciting donations on his website. There are alot of websites that ask for donations. I would bet he does not have a Tax number. BFD. I chose NOT to donate to him.

This is topic is soooo “Beth Holloway”. When people sent donations to help find Natalee, the locals could do nothing other than complain and bitch about it. Acting jealous that people donated to her cause. As if Beth asked for her daughter to be murdered. 🙄

Anyone could seriously go to one of the NH blogs, and change all the names. It is still the same crap.

Sorry if you don’t like it – But to me you all sound like a bunch of whiners, that somehow think that FOSP is enjoying all of this. That it was a huge conspiracy to get money from people. Money collected makes up for Stacy being dead? That is how you are all acting – IMO.

It seems to me that nobody wants to address the issue with the proper people. Just seems like complaining about it makes y’all feel better. Carry on…….

And Ducky…. I don’t feel sorry for your friend. Not trying to be mean – But if you can’t afford to donate money, then don’t. There are other ways to be supportive.

    Everyone has choices.

Just my opinions…. I choose not to comment on this anymore.

    Have a great day.

The true colors show when you say “I’m so jealous” because BigM ‘got’ Brodsky to post on his board.

You have GOT to be kidding.

I am still jealous that he got Brodsky and we didn’t.

That makes me bad? LOL. LOL.
    No. That makes me honest!

  56. Hedidit –
That may very well be true, for that particular schedule.

There are also those of us that went to our compaines to get matching donations…the TEN is needed for that. Not to mention that FSP are not able to LEGALLY accept donations in the state of IL, per the Attny General in IL…more so a big no no for them.

Also, I’d like to clarify, I don’t believe the TIN/TEN originally put on the flier to be incorrect. I believe the dash may have been in the wrong place….that has yet to be confirmed.

  57. Brodsky acts like an idiot, posts like an idiot and spells like an idiot. He wants people to think he is an idiot, just like any defense attorney should until the day of the trial.

  58. Bucket then kindly learn how to express it without calling others classless or telling them to shut up.

Sort of is right up there with idiot. JMO

  64. Thank you Noway and Ducky for the B’day wishes, and anyone else I may have missed. Ducky what goes on here will never ruin my day, birthhday or not, but thank you for being concerned. 😀

I wasn’t going to be online anymore today, but I just stopped by to ask Noway if Joel had commented on the articles today at SYM, or see if any of his comments has been posted here.

At any rate, I caught up on all the posts since I left this morning, and wanted to make a comment about where I stand with the FSP funds business, just so everyone here will know. This is my opinion only, and is not influenced one way or another by any member here.

First off, I also donated a small amount months ago before all of this tax exempt controversy started, and some other things came to light. Didn’t care where my money went at the time, as it was like any other donation I make to whatever I feel is a good cause. However, since it has been many months now and FSP is still collecting money, whether by fundraisers or Paypal or whatever method, and they are operating as a non-profit, I personally feel that they need to get their house in order, legally and fiscally, and make public their filings, or lack thereof. Until they do, this is not going away, and should/could even pose a huge problem for them with the IRS and the AG of Illinois.

Since reading on here that they (FSP) are apparently allowing a lay person, so to speak, to handle their accounting and fiscal responsibilites, I am seriously starting to doubt their taking the collection of donations as seriously as perhaps they should, and should have from the very beginning. Initially, they should have had an attorney handle all of this, and I understand they did. Why they fired the one they had, I don’t know. Someone said it was to save money. Surely there is an attorney in the area that would be willing to do this for a fraction of what they would charge otherwise, or even pro bono. Was it researched? I don’t know. Further, I do not know this Anthony person, or anything about him. Is he indeed an accountant or any attorney? Didn’t think so, and from what I’ve read, he certainly doesn’t appear to be. Nonetheless, I’m not local, nor emotionally involved in a lot of this, so I can’t positively say that he is totally unqualified to help FSP in this capacity or not. If he isn’t qualified as an accountant, or a lawyer, then, IMO, they need get someone who is, pronto! Or continue to deal with the unsatisfied contributors, and those of us who will not contribute again until everything is on the level.

This whole FSP thing, from the disastrous forum to the irregularity of the collections just makes me sick that someone responsible wasn’t at the helm from the very beginning. It’s such a shame that the negative publicity is a nationwide scandal, even if in a small way among bloggers and forum members. I would be really surprised if the donations have not almost come to a low drip.

Probably nothing that I write here, or that anyone else posts here or elsewhere, will make a dent in the speed in which this is resolved, but I just wanted ALL of you to know where I stand. And, I don’t expect anyone to agree or disagree, or respond to my post. This is just my $.02 for whatever it’s worth, like it or not.

Furthermore, there is probably no one on this blog who believes more that EVERYONE, regardless of who they are, has a right to voice their opinion here. I don’t have, and have never had a problem with that. Even if it’s a different opinion than mine, I defend anyone’s right to say what they want here, as long as it falls within the rules Gatehouse has set for all of us. The only problem I do have with anyone posting, is if it’s a personal attack against another member here, or a post that is rude, vulgar, and hateful.

Most of the time, this is a wonderful place to share your opinions with lots of different posters who may, or may not agree, but personally, I enjoy the differences too, as long as everyone can remain civil. It would be a much better place if we could all try to rein in our emotions when the tension gets a little high, as I’m as guilty of anyone of losing it at times….but I really do try not to. Noway, if we could only all have your temperament, lol.

I’m done, and gone for the rest of the day this time. 😀

  65. You’re right Grandma, and that’s my beef with the people who want to make it about their petty issues and their long-standing grudges.

Either they don’t see how their self-interested obsessions detract from the issues and how the defense will use it, or they just don’t care.

I’ve been polite for as long as I could stand it, so I apologize to those who don’t enjoy seeing me not be ‘nice’.

I’d love to talk about the actual case. Let’s. 🙂

  66. Facsmiley – Good idea. I think many would welcome that. But, as you can see, many have stayed away.

    Drew Peterson Round-Up
Just when you thought you were safe from anything Drew Peterson-related, Bolingbrook’s most notorious ex-husband is back in the news. Last week, a grand jury indicted Peterson on two counts of unlawful use of a weapon stemming from a supposedly illegal transfer of his shortened assault rifle to his son. On Monday, Will County Judge Richard Schoenstedt heard arguments over dismissing all felony gun charges. Peterson’s attorneys insist that he carried the weapon while working as a police officer and is thereby protected by the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act of 2004, which allows “law-enforcement officers and retired law-enforcement officers in good standing to carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction in the U.S., regardless of most state or local laws.” Assistant State’s Atty. John Connor disagreed, pointing out that Peterson had been arrested for carrying an illegal weapon, not a concealed weapon. Peterson attorney Joel Brodsky also claimed the Bolingbrook Police Department had given Peterson permission to carry the rifle, though a spokesman for the BPD denied such a claim.

In other Peterson gun-related news, the embattled former cop gave friends a “secret” gun that Illinois State Police missed during their initial confiscation of his personal arsenal. Ric Mims, a former Peterson friend, previously claimed that Peterson had shown him the gun, a .22 that has a barrel that folds into its handle. In March, D-Pete attorney Brodsky called Mims “slick” and added “He’s trying to sell another story to the National Enquirer now that he’s run out of money.” Burn! But now other friends have stepped forward and shown that Peterson signed the gun Mims mentioned over to them. Len Wawczak and his wife, Paula Stark, have a handwritten note that transfers the gun to them. Police later confiscated the gun when they seized Stark’s firearms, a move Stark claims was solely because they were friends with Peterson. The gun has not been mentioned as connected to any potential crimes, so we don’t know what the big deal is, other than to prove a defense attorney is kind of a jerk. Big surprise.

And, finally, a judge ruled it was okay for D-Pete to leave the state for vacation with his kids.

Facs- just because we question the status of the fund, doesn’t mean we don’t care about Stacy or Kathleen. Do you understand that?
    **************************
    Yes I do Kimmer.

But I do think that it can inadvertantly work for the defense since Brodsky has already spoken up about it to the press.

I agree there is an issue there and I don’t know why they aren’t forthcoming with their financials. That’s why I’m always urging people to take actual legal action, start with a registered letter and get representation if you can. I know not everyone can afford a lawyer, but if a group of people did it, it would be cheaper. Often you can get a consultation for free. There are avenues for finding out what they aren’t telling.

I just disagree with the repetitive posting of the same accusations to various forums and boards as a way of achieving the goal. It comes across as rude, and worse I don’t see how it could be effective.

And I do fear that the public FOSP bashing does play into Brodsky’s hands. Even though there might be a legitimate complaint.

  69. If I can change the topic and if anyone knows the answer, I saw recently people starting to make references to Joel working pro bono. Yet he has claimed that he is not working for free.

Does anyone know where it was printed or said recently that he was not getting paid? I know Gerlado made a reference, but I certainly wouldn’t take that as fact.

  70. Do you not think that the constanting bashing of DP and Brodsky will play in to the defense’s hands as well? Honestly, but the looks of things, I’d say he can’t get a fair trial in this area. One example being because of the shrine in his neighbor’s yard.
It’s a game that can be played on both sides.

And why should I put out MORE of my hard earned money when all FSP has to do is tell the truth? I’m not asking anyone here for help on the tax status, but surely Carol and Sharon read here and KNOW they should do something.

  71. Yup…don’t know what time, tho…would be nice to know because I’m a zillion timezones away (er…6)

I think it’s ruling on reopening the estate now or waiting for the appeal to not reopen it.
    (was that english?)

  72. Facs – sorry – when I’m on the laptop, I do all kinds of screwy things. That’s, yes, THE KS estate is on the Court Docket tomorrow.

BRB – going to change computers.

    ***********************************

Is that why you all like to post your complaints here? Because you are hoping someone from the board reads here? I guess that’s what Ifind rude to the regular posters. That’s why it looks like spamming. Surely, you can see that. It’s like the blog is just being used…when for some of us this is the only place we post.

Obviously no one can stop you from posting where you like (as long as it’s a public blog like this), but it would be nice if you would take a more direct avenue to the people you are trying to contact. Imagine how you would feel if people just showed up on your forum to post general appeals to people who don’t post or belong there?

To be honest, I’m thinking the comments section of a public blog isn’t the best place for the kinds of conversations we’ve been trying to have and if I could find a good forum where the posting was as fast, furious and multi-faceted as it is here (G*d, what Basherette-like alliteration!) I’d probably jump ship and leave it to the spammers.

    Know of any?

  75. Kimmer, when I say ‘you’ in the above post it’s a general term. I don’t mean you, specifically.

  76. There was a reference to Kris being a witness when DP signed over the ownership of his non-confiscated gun to Paula and Len. Kris is the younger one, right? Isn’t he the one that DP said will give someone an earful if one is infringing on his time? I wonder if that means he’s just one to tell it like it is, warts and all?

  77. Like most things that have been kept quiet in this case, I think there is a reason FSP remains mum on the whole fundraising issue.

And I don’t think it’s because they are doing anything illegal.

I mean WHO would be dumb enough to try to pull that off while working with the ISP and the FBI? lol ;D Don’t answer that!

    I just think we’ll all be going [i]OH! Now I get it.[/i]

Soon I hope. Patient I am not. 😉

  78. Facs,

    Re Brodsky pay.

I’ve got really strong views on this.

JB “doesn’t work for free”…he and G Selig are gambling on the jackpot. I think JB may well have an agreement that DP pays disbursements/expenses.

Selig comes top of the google news searches every time. Not only good publicity for his business, but as it is his business, a 5star top o’ the google service for his clients.

I recognize the players, as such. They flatter and flatter and egg one another on. It can be amusing to watch users using one-another.

I wouldn’t be surprised if in fact JB would happily write it all off even if it went totally belly-up tomorrow for the wild ride that he would be able to dine out on for the rest of his life. JMO

  80. Oh, and by the way, “Paula” is the individual who DP signed the baseball cap for, the one that wound up on Ebay.

  81. Kimmer

He’s already got a lot of what he wanted. And Selig.

In fact, in a way JB can hardly really lose. You could forgive someone for not being able to keep a guilty person out of prison.

I think you might say there’s a fundamental conflict of interest.

  82. ooohh. I wonder if Joel’s actually seen the gun, or if his information comes from the “transpher” document written out by…..a liar?

    Wow, hmmm…

  85. Too bad that little gun isn’t dripping with blood. Not to be gross, but I have a feeling it won’t end up being all that significant.

The cops searched his place and missed it. So, no wrongdoing on Drew’s part there. Then, when they revoked his FOID he got rid of it, which would be the right thing to do.

It does make Mims look like less of a liar, though.

  86. Nice guy…you help him out pickin up his cars, nannying, and he pays you with a hot gun and a lousy hat. I spill my guts to LE. LOL

  87. Facsmiley – DP could have hid the gun in the freezer, for all we know. But, then again, we’ll never know, will we?

  88. According to Joel Brodsky’s statements up above, it is NOT the fold up gun that Peterson allegedly showed to Mims.

So then, where’s the fold up one?

  89. I still can’t believe LE “missed” it. Scary to think about what other damning things they may have “missed”.

  90. 😀
teneleven, my comment looks like I was responded to you asking where the fold up gun is … in reality I was commenting on rescue’s post about it being put in the freezer.

  91. teneleven – disagree. Obviously, his other guns were in an accessible location. If he were to have hidden one, he’s the one that looks bad, not the **good** cops.

  92. Aw, doesn’t anyone like my theory that it is the folding gun, but D lied on the transpher. Now that would be a big fat GJ how-de-do gun charge.

  93. Also, I’d like to add, if they did “miss” it, they sure found a way to make up for it later, didn’t they. Who’s going to suffer the consequences for that? DP or the **good** cops?

  94. Len and Paula:

03/28/2008 “Peterson Friends called to Grand Jury but didn’t testify”
“Friends of Peterson – Two of the sources are a husband and wife recently seen in Peterson’s company. The couple assisted him in retrieving his vehicles from the state police last week after a judge ordered them to be returned, and they watched the Peterson children when Peterson went to New York to appear on the “Today” show. The couple have declined to identify themselves other than to say they are friends of Peterson. They said they were called to the grand jury Thursday morning but soon after arriving were told they would not be testifying.”

Aw, doesn’t anyone like my theory that it is the folding gun, but D lied on the transpher. Now that would be a big fat GJ how-de-do gun charge.
    ********************************

I think Mims could just be wrong about it being a fold up gun – maybe it was just a mini but he thought it was a fold-up gun. It still remains that still had a gun after the search and that he got rid of it.

Paula and Len must be very good friends to accept a gun from a murder suspect. Eeeek.

  96. Geesh, would LE “expect” DP to be hiding guns, or would they assume, after over 30 years as a p.o., he’d be honest and upfront and comply with the warrant? Maybe I’m wrong, here, but were they supposed to assume in the very beginning that he’d turn out to be the slime that he is?

  97. Rescue, you need to relax really. And stop assuming that I am saying something that I am not.

I DID NOT CALL THE COPS BAD, NOR DID I IMPLY IT MAKES THEM OR ANYONE ELSE LOOK BAD.

I simply said that it is worrisome that they may have missed other possible evidence.

Seriously though, if you are this high strung and defensive and maybe you need a little fresh air.

Your posts are as nasty as Amanda’s you just do is more sneaky with no blatant attacking words.

  98. I don’t know Rescue – I think the chief had a pretty good idea of the slime that he is from the very beginning. Remember – the chief wanted to fire him. 😉

  99. teneleven – I wasn’t being defensive, merely expressing an opinion. I didn’t realize you would take it that way. When I referred to **good** cops, I was merely making a distinction in my own way.

Why such an attack? I’m not high strung or defensive. However, in an effort to keep peace, I will no longer answer any of your posts, if that will help.

    🙂

They absolutely 100% should expect the worst from a potential perp yes. Veteran cop or drug kin pin

  101. Rescue that’s crap and you know it. Your posts were meant to make it as if I am implying that the cops are not the good guys.

Please. I may not spell or be as grammatically correct as you but I AIN’T NO FOOL babe

  102. Yeah, HJ, I think you have a point there. I just didn’t give DP credit for being the sneak he turned out to be. If he is innocent until proven guilty, I don’t assume he’d need to be hiding any guns from his own “brothers.” I just think this bodes worse for him. Obviously, if that gun was with all of the other guns, I don’t think it would have been overlooked. JMO.

  103. Right Rescue. Innocent until proven guilty. I have to ask myself….. “Why would an innocent person feel the need to hide a gun?”

I’m not saying he is guilty because he hid it. But definitely slimey.

He knew darn right well that they were there to confiscate his guns. Yet, he “hid” this one. Why?

  104. Bucket it is not.

But out of curiosity after you mentioned it I took a peek at the 10-11 radio code:

    10-11 = Identify this frequency.

  105. HJ – don’t know. All I’m saying, though, is that it wasn’t with the, what, 11 others, so why didn’t he voluntarily give it up if he had nothing to hide? Guess he wasn’t on the level from the get-go, huh?

  106. What I don’t know about all this is if Drew was told that he had to turn over all of his weapons, or if LE just swept through and took what they wanted.

For instance, at any point did they say to Drew, “Is this all of your guns?”

  107. Another good question Facs. Would be interesting to know if he was asked and he lied, or they just took what they found.

  108. This was JB’s contention when the hidden gun issue appeared. He said it was a search warrant. They come in and search. It doesn’t mean he has to “surrender” anything. That what he said, anyway.

You might hide a gun if you were an arrogant prock.

  109. Well, I just check ACR –

    http://www.acandyrose.com/stacy_peterson_search_warrant103107.htm

On this day, Wednesday, October 31st, 2007, Complainant-Affiant Sergeant Patrick Coliins of the Illinois State Police has signed and sworn to a complaint for search warrant before me. Upon examination of the written complaint, I find that said complaint on it’s face states facts sufficient to show probable cause for the issuance of a search warrant, and I therefore command that the following be searched:

    B. Any and all instruments which may have been utilized as a weapon or restraint, including but not limited to firearms, ammunition, knives, rope, carpet, and rugs.

  110. Okay, so, and believe me, I don’t know this, do they give him an opportunity to “fess-up,” or do they just go in and search until they are satisfied with the total confiscations? I mean, how would they know how many guns he had if they didn’t ask first?

  111. Oh, but, come to think of it, the guns have to be registered, so they’d “know” how many guns he was supposed to have, right? At least, how many he had registered?

  112. Something else I remember about the guns is that one was not returned at all because it belonged to another party. I’m guessing that’s Stacy’s Glock.

  113. teneleven

Identify this freqeuncy actually sounds a perfect nic….makes you sound uber mysterious.

  114. Yeah, bucket, maybe. Lots of things we don’t know. Seems like lots of things coming together, winding down, too.

  117. Hope so….if not the various factions may evolve into roving gangs. LOL

I really am for bed now. Sorry to have started such a ruckus earlier, but I think it was all good in the end because people got things off their chests, some good posts.

night rescue, everyone else making dinner?
Cheers. I look forward to tomorrow.

Nice guy…you help him out pickin up his cars, nannying, and he pays you with a hot gun and a lousy hat. I spill my guts to LE. LOL

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I spill my guts to LE.

Or start sharing all the stuff i found on his computer that he let me use while he was hitting the tv circuit.

  119. IKEOL – Now that would not surprise me at all. Since his friend Paula was trying to make money off of his hat. Who knows what else she tried to gain for herself as the close friend?? 😕

  120. I’m in the UK. You naughty enteraining people often keep me up way too late.

I rely on you guys to give it up when NE comes out….we get a different edition here. LOL

    See ya, peeps! X

  121. Noway- are you still able to go to SYM? If so, would you please post a query to JB:

Who now has possession of Stacy’s Glock?

Since it belonged legally to Stacy, DiP should not have been able to transfer ownership of it to anyone at all. I want to know where that gun is now.

    Thanks!!! 🙂

  122. Oh- and if he gives you any crap, remind him that we have video taped interviews in which DiP clearly states that one of the Glocks was hers.

  123. amandareckonwith // July 16, 2008 at 5:43 pm

Also, just to mention… upthread, a tie for “post of the day” between ducky and cfs.

    Wow, those were very good.
    —————————————————
Hey-knock it off. I don’t want people to think that I am on your team. lol! That is quite a compliment coming from you. Be careful, you are showing a “good” side to Amanda. 😉

Cfs-great post! I hope that you had a great birthday!

The ONLY reason that I started on the fundraising thing was that I saw that flyer yesterday and it really upset me that they still haven’t answered the questions, yet they are soliciting funds again.

I need to read up on this gun story. So, it’s not the folding one? I don’t understand how LE can know the number of guns that are registered to Drew, and not collect them all or inquire? Odd? In regards to LE, they missed the boat when it came to Kathleen, so I am not giving them the benefit of the doubt. They have a new chief but there are many on the force that have been very friendly with Drew for many years. Kathleen suffered because of them not doing their JOB! So, I’ll wait until they do it this time to give them credit. I think that they are because they have been so quiet, at least I am praying that they are.

  124. Geez. I actually am a good person.
Believe it or not. I hardly ever lie. I never steal. I give of myself. I am good to others, I am loyal.

And my damned arm is sore from patting myself on the back.

(and I know y’all hate me, so whatevah)

  125. I wonder about the glock as well. Was it just picked up in ‘the sweep”? But if it was then returned to Drew, he couldn’t have signed it over to Steven since it wasn’t his gun.

  126. The story will be finished printing on Friday, it will be in next weeks edition. My source is solid. I cannot say who told me, but I know its correct. Lets say that I have connections. The proof will be on the news stands soon.

  127. I always liked Bravos. Once, a long time ago I sent her an email explaining something and she was really happy to get it.

  128. Amanda-I don’t hate anyone here. Patting yourself on the back. lol. I understand your point, most of the time. It’s all in the delivery. A person with passion for a cause and for justice can’t be half bad. 😉

  129. Bucketoftea – do you ever visit B3ta? I used to hang out there a lot and had the opposite problem as a yank on a British site. They’d all be drunk by the time I logged on in the evening and pass out while I was still going strong.

  130. I’m hanging in there, Rescue… got lots to do and little time to do it, so pedal’s to the metal, so to speak. 🙂

    How are you?

  131. To know about a story before it’s even hits the news stands, it gets faxed to the lawyers for the paper first. They have to read it, analyze it and edit it so that the paper won’t be sued for any false stories. I know this from working for the lawyers that represented The Globe. We’d see the story at least a week before it hit the news stands.

  132. facsmiley // July 16, 2008 at 6:32 pm

I dislike you Amanda, if it makes you feel any better.
    ——————————————————–
LMFAO! 😉 That is really bad but very funny!

  133. So I guess the boys are in court again tomorrow for the Savio hearing?

I hope that isn’t too traumatic.

  134. Bash, just got your request to post question to Joel.

Doubt he will answer it at all … moreso coming from you via me. 😀

But we’ll give it the old college try! 😉

  135. Cute Avatar Facs. So appropriate!

I feel for those boys. Definitely not how to spend your summer vacation!

Surely they have pictures of Stacy on her motorcycle. Why didn’t they use one of those. I mean it is for STACY. Not a cartoon blonde on a motorcycle. Well at least her name is spelled right this time.

  138. Bash … posted the query … and followed in the tradition of Joel and put it in more than one thread so that the majority of SYM bloggers can see it too. IMO Joel will not answer it.

    We shall see.

    I have been wrong before.

    Once. 😉

  139. Amanda-I hope that Brav is ok. Sorry

Car99-you would have thought that they could find a BRUNETTE on a motorcyle? I need to learn how to make a mad face.

    Noway-lol Once?

  140. Ducky, who is the broad on the motorcycle supposed to be?

It’s not supposed to be Stacy of course … but why do we need a brunette?

Or … am I wrong for the second time?

And in the same night! 8)

  141. This is a maybe. Maybe they wanted to save money by having someone do it from their own computer and they used what they had. It takes a lot of ink for a photo picture compared to a cartoon one.

  142. kekee-this case and fundraising is for STACY, her face has been on each and every flyer. To me, this is a disgrace. Kinko’s has donated all the money for the fundraisers, they would still do it. I know that for a fact. BTW, ink is ink, same price for a picture or cartoon.

  143. Looks like I was wrong at least about the woman (broad makes me sound like my dad!) on the motorcycle since I just looked more closely and saw the halo.

I’m not going to comment further on the flier.

Ducky … hope this works. This one’s for you!
    😡

  144. Hmm. . . I think WordPress got “mad” mixed up with “constipated” … could someone get right on that, please?

    😀

  145. Noway-that isn’t fair! You have to TELL me how. Maybe you shouldn’t 😉 My first mean post was yesterday. I don’t want to catch up to Amanda.

  146. Evening All –

It will be interesting to see how many people actually show up for the new fundraisers. The response to previous one’s hasn’t been great.

And seriously, they know many people are asking questions about the money, yet they have the balls to have another fundraiser, that takes a lot of nerve.

As far as a poster supposedly getting back to us with information, we’ve been hearing that for months now. When they were in search of radio’s this person assured us they were ordered, but on FoSP they were still begging for them and funds.

I think people are generally good in nature. They want to help, and will go to all ends to do so. They at the very least deserve their questions to be answered.

Ashley selling her story…..shocking…..NOT!!!! Again, another potential witness going to be pulled apart on the stand, if it ever gets to that point.

And from what I have known about Amanda, before even this blog, she has been passionate in finding Stacy, she has searched, she has walked her talk.

What *props* will they pull out for the new fundraiser? Since a certain someone will not be attendence with her *bats* what will be the new thing?

  147. Noway-it’s in the rules that you can’t tell wordpress what to do. You might want to take a peek at them. Take two laxatives and call me in the morning.

Let-hello. Props? God only knows. Sorry, but by the looks of that flyer, it’s going to be another flop. Who is doing this one? Carol did the last one but attendance was very low. I’ve heard that there isn’t much support from the community, very sad. I said it earlier, it’s all in the delivery.

How many times are you going to wrong today, Noway? LOL! You are setting a new record.

Wow-Ashley sure did tell that person. It looks like tribute might have been given false information.

  150. TY, lttbf, I am taking the darts today. They don’t believe I am nice.

You know I agree with 95% of what you post. That “poster” lied to us. Could have been inadvertently, but now she is selling the stories to others, looks like. I quit buying.

I am just glad more people are looking this straight on and took off the glasses.

  151. Ducky, didn’t I see Carol’s name on the flier at one point? I could be wrong though.

Poker Runs are a lot of fun, but I don’t know how many people that are supporters that have motorcycles, its can limit the event. I understand people can go in a car, but it’s not the same.

And the flier, it does look a bit odd.

As far as local interest, I’m not in Bolingbrook proper, but I can tell you on the local news you never hear about this, unless Drew has a court case, and then they mention it, but nothing like it was.

  152. Let-Carol is on this flyer and she is on the committee. Carol did everything for the last fundraiser. There was not any help from the others on the board. The others (Anthony, Amy, Kerry) did the one at Bourbon Street. So, I’m wondering who is doing this one. Please make sure you note who is not mentioned in helping out with the fundraisers in the weeks prior to the events. 😉

  153. The point is the story will be out there, paid or unpaid. I find it hard to believe that there is no profit in this for Ashley. I was not told it was paid, that was my spin on it. My bad. Its pretty sda all around when someone does something like this. Would you want it done to you ? No one would. thats private and should remain so. Therse really something wrong with this world when people get off on garbage .

  154. Drew is smug for a reason, iknoweverything.

He is confident she won’t be found.

I’d mention it is too late to search, the prairie grass blocks anything you need to look for, but that would be saying once again that the teams wasted the spring. No planes could see any disturbed areas after May 5 or so… foliage too thick.

It would sound better coming from someone else.

But fall will be a good time to search. Come the end of September, perhaps. That is when they found Naomi Arnette. Buried 3 miles from home.
Unfortunately, with the circus act, the cause has lost local support. People just roll their eyes now.

It is still possible that they could get a good turnout for a search. In Sadorus, a town of under 300, there were 150 searchers. But the Naomi cause showed respect for Naomi.

  155. Look at Ashleys words “I SOLD MY STORY” think about that sentence. when you sell something you get money, right ? I have a point to make about the fact. Sorry to be a pain.

Is there anything to stop NE writing about Ashley’s story, maybe with quotes but not her actual images? They woudn’t have to pay anyone then.

CBS2 Is the Breaking News Today

Chicago—Did the CBS2 News department’s expose’ of an NBC5 reporter’s presence at the home of a news maker place a prominent, Emmy Award winning reporter in a false light? Was CBS2 reckless or even malicious in airing a story that aside from not being newsworthy would defame and destroy the career of a reporter for a competing station?

The biggest question I have about this entire mess is: What would motivate any reporter to demolish an ongoing news investigation of another correspondent’s work?

I can only find one word to describe this CBS2 effort, ugly. What was the justification for this really dubious story they turned into something with a sordid and salacious slant?

It looks like a Cook County Circuit Court Jury will be deciding what CBS2 and the other named individuals did wrong and how much they should be punished. A lawsuit was filed late today seeking unspecified damages on behalf of eleven-year veteran WMAQ-TV reporter, Amy Jacobson by her lawyer, Kathleen T. Zellner.

Aside from CBS, named in Jacobson’s Complaint are, Joe Ahern President and General Manager of WBBM-TV Chicago, CBS 2 Vice President and News Director Carol Fowler, anchor Rob Johnson, reporter Mike Puccinelli, Northwestern University Journalism Professor Michele Weldon and Tracy Reardon.

It was nearly a year ago when Jacobson was working on the story of Lisa Stebic, the still missing Plainfield, IL mother of two children. Lisa Stebic’s marriage had gone sour and her husband, Craig Stebic; a private investigator is a “Person of Interest” (God, how I hate that term!) in an act of presumed foul play.
Police and the missing woman’s relatives say Craig Stebic had the motive, means and opportunity to kill his wife and dispose of her body. As a private investigator Stebic should have sufficient skills to murder and cover the crime avoiding detection.

Of course no adequate evidence has surfaced to qualify as Probable Cause to allow anyone’s arrest and trial for any crime.

Craig Stebic obtained a lawyer and invoked his absolute right not to answer police questions. Neither cops, nor their agents can ask Stebic anything at all or risk being sued. Anything Stebic says to them will never see the inside of a courtroom unless Stebic initiates the contact, is re-advised of his rights and waives them first.

Jacobson was not restricted by any law from getting Stebic to talk. Jacobson was on a mission to get to the heart of this story she was assigned to tell. Jacobson undertook a personal safety risk to do her job.

These kinds of cases are solved only if investigators or anyone can keep the suspects talking. Apparently Stebic was still talking, at least to Jacobson until the moment CBS2 aired their story.

Had Craig Stebic gotten caught in a lie or made any confession the threshold of probable cause may have been crossed and an arrest of a murder suspect facilitated.

Perhaps Lisa Stebic’s remains may have been found and grieving family members got some closure or at least the satisfaction that Lisa Stebic’s children are not being raised by her killer. Such a discovery by Jacobson would have served both WMAQ’s viewers and justice well.

Jacobson’s investigation was suddenly exposed by competing WBBM-TV’s news reports. Those reports seemed to leave an impression with many viewers that there was some sort of an affair or romance between the married reporter and Craig Stebic. That impression was never supported by any facts.

Despite the fact that Jacobson violated no rules, laws (civil or criminal) CBS2 apparently destroyed Jacobson’s successful career.

I’ve wondered how this mess would have played out if Jacobson been a man under the same circumstances? I’m doubt CBS2 would have gotten themselves into this legal quagmire.

The early part of any lawsuit is always a major investigation. Records, emails, Internet service provider data and telephone bills are subpoenaed for an exhausting examination. People are interviewed and after everything possible is done the discovery process ends with the depositions of all involved being taken.

Lawyers for Jacobson will have the most fun taking the depositions of this group of defendants. Some of those folks may know their way around a newsroom but submitting to the depositions will be every bit as much fun as being waterboarded by their inquisitors.

Most reporters and news directors for some unknown reason don’t do well at depositions. Perhaps it’s because they are used to be asking the questions and not accustomed to answering them.

CBS2 was contacted and so far they have declined comment.

  169. HJ yeah, I know…I had a peek and it just got better…(and I am in bed on the laptop) Don’t mind sharing at all. 😀

Before I really do turn this off…Facs..no, never belonged to a forum before. This story caught my attention and I’ve found it an excellent distraction from my worries.

  170. duckyone // July 16, 2008 at 8:19 pm

Thanks Gatehouse. That is interesting. Why would he do that, anyone?
    *******

Regarding the reopening of the Savio estate and the replacement of the executor:

If Brodsky’s appeal against the *previous* Court ruling that reopened the estate is granted, there would be no reason for him to stay further court proceedings regarding the estate, because there wouldn’t *BE* any proceedings for him to “stay”.

  171. Wouldn’t you like to be a fly on the wall when Kelly goes up against Brodsky? I hope Gatehouse gives us a play by play. LOL

  172. Absolutely Ducky. He is very well respected. I’m pretty sure he does not join random blogs to discuss his client’s cases, and I’m pretty sure he does not stoop to name calling, and some of the other things that the lower class attorneys do.

    😉

  173. If Brodsky’s appeal against the *previous* Court ruling that reopened the estate is granted, there would be no reason for him to stay further court proceedings regarding the estate, because there wouldn’t *BE* any proceedings for him to “stay”.
    ………………………………………………………………………
Bash, I believe JB’s MOTION (which he withdrew) was to stay further court proceedings PENDING THE OUTCOME of their APPEAL. Therefore, the case will proceed without delay. His appeal has not been withdrawn.

  174. Hello back from swimming. Ducky please understand that I personally think that a real picture would have been nice. When I was talking about ink, I meant that for a real picture it uses more ink than a cartoon picture that has less color in it. I was just trying to understand it, but that is is either here or there. That is why I said maybe. Just trying to help you think of a reason. Now on to the discussion on hand I like John Kelly also. He was on Greta for something to with the Holloway case.

  175. I believe JQK also represented Nicole Brown’s family. I may be dreaming that….. but I believe he did.

  176. mzinformed // July 16, 2008 at 9:10 pm

Bash, I believe JB’s MOTION (which he withdrew) was to stay further court proceedings PENDING THE OUTCOME of their APPEAL. Therefore, the case will proceed without delay. His appeal has not been withdrawn.
    ********

I didn’t say his appeal *had* been withdrawn, MzI.

His motion for a stay was withdrawn.

    Big difference.

  177. ..And BTW…. John Q. Kelly knew about all of the “Beth bashing”, however, he never felt the need to address it publicly. Which told me there was nothing wrong. To this day, nothing has come of all of the crap that people spewed. Says alot to me.

Like Noway said… They (FOSP) would be pretty stupid to try to pull off a scam with the FBI , and ISP watching everything. There is a reason for the silence and I seriously doubt it is anything illegal.

  178. I didn’t say his appeal *had* been withdrawn, MzI.

His motion for a stay was withdrawn.

    Big difference.
    ………………………………………………………………………
Bash, I understood that. My point was the case will move forward as opposed to being put “on hold” so to speak (if his motion had not been withdrawn & successful). That’s why your statement………. …..”because there wouldn’t *BE* any proceedings for him to “stay” – made no sense to me. Help a dumb chick out here, will ya?

  179. kekee-I hope that you enjoyed your swim. You don’t have to try to explain anything to me, that flyer is terrible, it is beyond atrotrocious, and I wouldn’t use it for a backyard BBQ, let alone a fundraiser for a missing Mom. Ink is ink and they received free printing. The fundraiser was a topic today, contrary to many people trying to avoid this issue. I know that many of the board members read this blog and I hope/PRAY that they are paying attention. REALLY!

In regards to John Kelly, unfortunately the Cales family hasn’t hired someone like him as their attorney. They need someone with class and experience to represent them. IMO. How is it that the Savio’s can get such a great attorney and the Cales do not have someone like this? Many attorney’s would jump at the chance to help them FREE OF CHARGE. WHY settle for Anthony, Sharon and Roy handling the board affairs? WHY? Sometimes, not answering a question, gives you the answer 😉

  180. Well I hope Exlaw or ske or whoever it is that is in love with drew doesn’t mind watching the kids while him and lenny go chase girls. LOL LOL

  186. Don’t forget his lovest with getting his mug on GreTTa!

Um, you think that text message came from, ah, where? Oh, yeah, Stacy’s “secret lover.”

  187. Another thing I’ve noticed about Drew’s…pillow talk…is that he uses the term ‘romantic’ to mean ‘sexy times’.

Remember he said both of his last two marriages were ‘romantic’ and exciting at the beginning and now he says he’d like to (excuse me) work Ashley up into a ‘romantic’ sweat.

    That’s a very unusual turn of phrase…

  192. I posted a response to a blogger about the issue of misspelling.

Once again, for the record, I merely pointed out the double consonant issue because I think Drew Peterson is the one that authored the “racy text message” that Brodsky says “proves” Stacy Peterson had a secret lover, one which she ran away with.

Riding is a grammer school word. I trust that most here know that, and how to spell it.

RiDDing is what was used to spell that word in the racy text message.

Drew has spelled another basic word, coming as coMMing

Greta, a show he has been on a few times, is GreTTa.

I’m not criticizing anyone here, there or anywhere. I’m merely backing up my beliefs, accurately, I believe, as to why I believe Drew Peterson sent that text.

Just so my point is clear.

  193. Didn’t Scott R says that they, he and Stacy, exchanged “racy” text messages?

Just curious because the catch that Rescue made is a good one, and I’m confused.

  194. LTTBF – yes, you are correct.

But, are you aware that DP “found” a hidden racy text message in December on a Simm card that once belonged to Stacy, but wound up in one of the son’s phones?

That’s the message I’m referring to.

  195. Rescue-you get the gold star today!

I should have been in bed a long time ago. Night everyone!

Cfs must be enjoying her birthday. 😉

  196. Ashley mentioned that Peterson talked about enjoying riding his motorcycle Downtown. She was going to look and see if he used the word riding or not, and, if so, how he spelled it.

However, I think he knows there was a lot of flap for the misspelling of that word, and the “old fashioned,” if you will, wording of the text. In other words, many thought it was from an older person, not someone in Stacy’s age range.

Nonetheless, in the heat of passion, LOL, like chatting with a hottie, I doubt he’d be thinking “hmm, I better spell the word “riding” correctly.

  197. Since this is all coming out now about Paula, I hope that she has taken measures to protect herself. I would hate to see someone else hurt by DP. 😕

  198. Paula was doing a nice thing for Lacy. Can’t fault her for that. Seems like her heart was in the right place, with the wrong man. Make that two wrong men.

  199. Oh Heck No. I do not blame Paula at all. It is unfortunate that she got caught up in all of this.

I don’t know her, but would bet she had the best of intentions with regard to the kids.

Maybe some mis-judgement with regard to putting the hat on e-bay. Then again, I have to keep reminding myself that there is not, to my knowledge, a manual on how to handle these situations. So, I have to assume that people do the best that they can, given the circumstances they are given.

I cannot say that I would know the perfect thing to do if I were in their shoes.

  200. Well Paula took a possible murder weapon from a suspected murderer. I don’t think she is very nice.

  201. You know, now that all of the information about Paula and Len are coming out, what comes to mind is where is Peterson’s support group? I mean, he has family, and he went on LKL and said, other than his supporters being afraid to come out publicly on his behalf, there’s people that stick by him. Isn’t it just a wee bit telling that he has to rely on people such as this to help out with his daughter, Lacy? Not that the goof isn’t trying to line up the next Mrs. Peterson, but we all know there’s no future in that!

  202. I’m just a bit confused about some stuff in relations to the guns.

So according to Mims and this new couple, there was a this fold up gun that the ISP didn’t take when did served the search warrant. Regardless if they missed it, he hid it etc.

Now according to this couple they were talked to by the ISP in March and they took the gun then, right?

So why in the world would the Judge give Drew back any of his guns, if they knew about this swap of guns.

I know I’m not wording this right, it sounds confusing to me…lol.

Couldnt the DA’s office brought up the fact the Drew had another weapon that wasnt recovered, but had since been? That it was transferred after his FOID was revoked? Stuff like that.

  203. And did Paula purposely lie on her FOID application, as far as her birthday and address?

I’m so confused on this issue, sorry all.

  204. LTTBF – technically the judge didn’t give drew the guns back, since his FOID card had been revoked. He just let him sign them over to his son.

  205. No clue about Paula and the errors on her FOID application. Did she make a mistake or purposely try to mislead? It’s strange.

  206. Facs, that’s right, opps.

Was that one of the guns his son got?

I guess I’m just trying to think as a DA and the Judge. If stuff was presented to me that Drew on purpose hide this gun, tried to give it to someone else, I might have had the courts hold onto his guns a bit longer, until they got to the bottom of it.

  207. Facs, those to me are just odd things to mistake, jmo of course.

I might not know today’s date, but I do know my birthdate and address….hahaha.

  208. LTTBF – All I know is, on 3/18 these two helped Peterson pick up his car.

The next day, LE was in their face (they went to their home, confiscated two guns, I believe).

On 3/28, they were summoned to appear before the GJ, but wound up not testifying.

For some reason, DP left a paper trail by transferring ownership of the non-confiscated gun to Paula. Why in the world he would do that defies logic.

So, in March, he transferred a gun he wasn’t even supposed to have, and made a record of it.

    What am I missing here?

  209. I’m also thinking is it possible that the person that said Ashley sold her story to the NE, is actually this couple that sold the story?

  210. I have to disagree…. Nobody knows how Paula was “convinced” to take that weapon. If she could not remember her birthdate, then DP could have known that as well as the ISP did. Must have been a reason for it.

I’m not saying he threatened her….. BUT…. She could very well have had “something” in her past that “would be overlooked” if she agreed to take the weapon off of his hands.

In addition, she could also have felt that she had no choice… her hubby = DP’s friend. Maybe she felt trapped??

I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt until I hear differently from her.

    Just saying….

Well Paula took a possible murder weapon from a suspected murderer. I don’t think she is very nice.
    ———————————————————-
She had reason to lie about her birthdate and address. This shows that she is not so nice and knows more than she is telling.

Top that off by this gun transaction happening in front of Kris. I wonder if Drew was talking to Ashley at the same time 😉 Is there a normal person associated with the Peterson’s? Really?

  212. Rescue, I don’t know. I’m missing a lot of the pieces to this puzzle.

I don’t understand the law in regards to search warrants well enough. Does it, or did it, say all guns in the home? Did it specify what guns to confisicate?

He couldn’t have known that his FOID was going to be revoked, so when they did that, what was he suppose to do with any guns he did have?

That’s what I’m not understanding. His FOID is revoked, he is in possesion of a gun, which without the FOID is illegal, so he does what he thinks is right and signs it over, and or sells it to someone else.

Bottom line is, I don’t know what one is suppose to do when a FOID is revoked and they are in possession of a weapon.

  213. Harley-Paula LIED on her FOID card and then LE took her .357 magnum-they, THEN found the other gun signed over by Drew.

Something is fishy in Bolingbrook. Pheasant Chase is stinking up the town. I’m just sayin. lol

  214. Ducky, I’m with you….confused, and not understanding all this.

A FOID application isn’t something to be taken lightly. I would hope when one is filling it out, they take a second and read the questions correctly.

Very strange stuff all around with this case.

  215. HJ – doesn’t it just fit the typical Peterson pattern (try and say that 3x fast) that he thrives on keeping people close to him that have weaknesses and vulnerabilities? It’s like he uses them and dangles those vulnerabilities over their heads to keep them in line, or fall into place. They seem to all have been drawn to his likable personality at first, and then trapped by his controlling ways, especially if he has “dirt” on them.

  216. LTTBF – That’s what I’m trying to understand as well. Is it a big deal that he had the gun? Was he told to ‘turn them over’ or was the house just searched and he hid it so they didn’t find it? Is that illegal?

Is any of this stuff illegal, or does it just make him look a little shadier, and make Ric look a little more honest?

  217. Mims said the state police showed him two guns and he identified one of them as the foldup one drew showed him. He said he did not reconize the other one.

The other one is probably the gun brodsky is talking about. I bet the police got the foldup one from someone else or Paula had 2 guns of Petersons.

  218. I was beginning to really WONDER…about the
“Ashley Chronicles” I wonder no more tonight….interesting…and it’s supposed to get even better ?? or worse actually ,depends on how you look at it…Evening all…Happy Blogging….I have been ordered to stay away from stress for a while…My Blood Pressure went through the roof today..So I cant play here for a while…I will miss this….Happy Blogging….BBL when I get a handle on it….

  219. Yes Ducky I get that. My point was – Did DP know the reason for her lie, and thus “Convinced her to take his gun”????

It is all very fishy. Personally, all these people with guns??? 😯 Why would DP transfer a weapon to someone with an invalid foid card? And yes, having been a former cop, I believe he knew her card was invalid. More questions than answers here……

  220. Facs, once Drew lawyered up they can not

asking him anything or ask him to give them any

evidence that might be used against him.

There would be nothing illegal about him

keeping anything they missed but they can take

it when they do find it.

  221. Facs, beats me. Something is just not clicking with me and this story.

I’m looking on acandyrose to see if I can find the search warrant to see what it exactly says.

  222. Ok ACandyrose link for the search warrant isn’t available.

As far as Drew knowing or not knowing if her FOID was up to date, or valid, how would he have known that?

He wasnt working the department at that time, so he couldnt have run it. If she showed him an application, or even an older FOID card, what was he suppose to think.

Will I receive a notice that my FOID card will expire?
Yes. The Department of State Police shall, 60 days prior to the expiration of a FOID card, forward by first class mail an application which may be used to apply for renewal of the card. It is the obligation of the holder of a FOID card to notify the Department of State Police of any address change since the issuance of the FOID card.

  224. Ok, just play along with me for a minute.

Let’s pretend I have a gun, and a valid FOID. Tomorrow I find out my FOID is being revoked, what am I suppose to do with the gun that I have?
