  1. Just a thought. I wonder (not to steal your tagline) but I wonder how anyone could doubt that Ashley is from Southern Illinois after reading the way she writes.

Unless she’s doing it on purpose, “them kids” and “what he says don’t mean” sure sound like Southern Illinois to me.

  2. Hey no prob facs…Its a great point. At this point though I dont care if “Ashley” is an escapee from Area 51 …She’s got the goods ! LOL

What would you do at this juncture if you were Joel Brodsky, and you had finally started reading up on how what is posted on the Internet *can* hurt a defendent when it come to trial time, and if you, yourself had posted something that you realized was a big boo boo.

Would you maybe post something like this?

    “Joel A. Brodsky said…
There have been some attempts by imposters to pretent to be me, so if from now on a post is not from my google account on any google blog, then it is an imposter.”
    _______________
    Where did this come from?

  4. Oh Paul, I think we’ve all read that by now. The comments section is actually the most interesting part of that guy’s blog.

  5. Noway – that was on LegalPub. Actually, I’m not so sure that there hasn’t been an imposter, or at least somone trying to ‘help’ by posting as Joel.

Who knows, maybe when Joel drunk posts he forgets to use his blogger account.

OOh Oh! Trouble for for the case against Drew Peterson.
    This dies not look good!

Somebody please put this blogger out of business!

    The list is from 2005.

According to Joel, Drew modified the weapon in 2006.

So the modified weapon was never approved or put on any list … is that right?

And is this all the BBPD used? Didn’t they write down serial numbers or something? “Personal AR 15” hardly does a very good job of narrowing down that gun they approved.

Just wondered WHEN Brodsky had written that Legal Pub post … and how much of what was written on SYM we should have been ignoring. 😀

  7. I wouldn’t let Joel’s south side Chicago way of speaking fool ya.

Not sure he is as “dumb” as everyone gives him credit for.

I give him credit for being a lot dumber.

    Sorry, I couldn’t help it!

If this information is true, why would you want it hidden? Regardless of your/our opinion of DP, he does have a right to a fair trial. I truly believe that it’ s the “lynch mob mentality” that is going to be the final nail in the coffin of the case against Drew.

  10. Kimmer, I kind of think that post was from the blogger himself. He’s been posting here a lot lately under different names. I think he just wants to make sure we read his blog.

I can’t imagine anyone posting a link and then saying ‘put him out of business’. That doesn’t make a lot of sense.

If you read about the guy he’s pretty flamboyant. Besides his crime blog he’s got a website and youtube videos featuring himself crossdressed and acting as sort of a humerous anti-feminazi.

  11. Facs- I’m familiar with the guy and his antics.

Glad he’s bringing this information to light. Our 2nd, 4th and 5th ammendment rights are not to be taken lightly, regardless of who is being charged.

  12. Joel’s remark about the ‘pretent’ Joel on LegalBlog has me confused. Here is on of the posts from the supposed imposter Joel.

    “Joel A. Brodsky said…
I once had a case about two brothers who did an “honor” beating of there sister (with a baseball bat) who got pregnant out of wedlock with a non-muslim. I learned that these “honor” killings/beatings are rooted in tribal custom, and are not part of Islam from the Quaran. Anyway my clients got short jail terms (30 and 60 days) because the family would not cooperate with the authorities. Tribal ties run very deep in these societies. Loyalty to the tribe is stonger than loyalty to a family memeber.

Now, the only thing that would indicate to me that it isn’t Joel, is that everything is spelled correctly. But spelling aside, why would you bother to make a post like this if you weren’t actually Joel?

What is the point of posting as Brodsky and then saying things like this, which aren’t particularly damaging or controversial, and actually sound kind of plausible?

Again, this is what makes me think that it’s ALL Joel, or people who work with him and it’s the old ‘white noise’ in action yet again. Saturate the media with multiple versions of the truth, and then you can’t be held accountable. By saying that there’s an imposter afoot you add yet another layer of confusion.

  13. Ashley’s had been down for awhile. Since I first asked Facs where she got that “Joel post.”

I thought maybe Fake Joel had posted it there …

  14. “I once had a case about two brothers who did an “honor” beating of there sister”

Ok. So, he did spell there correctly. Just used it incorrectly. It must be him!

    😀

  15. I didn’t catch that harleyjoe (there/their)! See, that’s a very ‘Joel’ thing to do…so why claim that he didn’t post that?

I think Dude is totally trying to disassociate himself from that gun list he posted and then deleted…and any other things that he’s maybe not so sure about having posted.

  16. “Joel A. Brodsky said…
There have been some attempts by imposters to pretent to be me, so if from now on a post is not from my google account on any google blog, then it is an imposter.”
    ____________
Facs, when did he post that on Legal Pub?

    Did it have a date/time?

  17. My understanding of the federal law is that only a gun manufacturer can modify a gun to make it’s barrel shorter then law allows then a permit must be issued for that gun and it has to be registered.

  18. ASAIK, not even a police officer can modify his personal weapon illegally, whether or not he’s been allowed to carry it on the job.

  19. Should read – AFAIK. I don’t want anyone wracking their brain trying to figure out a nonsense acronym.

  20. “I once had a case about two brothers who did an “honor” beating of there sister”

  22. I agree Facs. He is backpeddling big time.

Maybe he thinks that by denying posts, later when one comes back to haunt him, he can say “that wasn’t me, it was an imposter”.

    Silly, Silly Man.

  23. Hi HJ, Facs.

Facs – was anyone able to retrieve the list of guns that JB listed on the blog, that then vaporized?

As to JB denying, denying, denying, why doesn’t he just say what he’s even talking about. What was said by whom that’s got his undershorts in a bunch?

  24. You cannot deny posts if you made them.
Each time you click into a site, any site, your IP is logged. Even if you’re only there reading.
Even using a proxy, nothing is really anonymous if/when a computer expert tracks it.

  25. Rescue, I still need to look on my desktop and in some stuff I printed . . .

Could they have been posted on WordPress? I never have any luck with the search option but I’d give it a try …

  26. Gee, Noway, I don’t remember seeing that, but Basherette is the Internet Librarian with these things.

  27. I wonder….OT kinda…Does anyone know..If by chance the GJ does not come back with indictments in either KS or SP ….and NO arrest is made…as time goes on if new evidence should come up…How is law enforcement required to handle that ?? Anyone know…or know where I can look to find out.

  28. Oops I also forgot to say ..Good Evening all…( I don’t know where my manners are today ) Hope everyone is fine this beautiful evening.

  29. If evidence comes up, they can arrest him anytime, 1ww.
20 years down the road, whatever. There is no limit on murder.

If they indict him and he beats it (like OJ) it is over. For good.

  30. Joel was posting about an imposter on Google Blogger sites. Joel is registered and has a profile there so when he posts a comment, the Blogger icon appears next to his name. If you check out the comments to some of the posts at LegalPub there are some “Joel A. Brodsky’s” who don’t have the Blogger icon (meaning people just used that name, but are not members). So Joel is saying that those aren’t his comments.

The odd thing is that whoever made those comments, types and uses language just as Joel does. So….it’s weird.

  31. Since documentation now exists that the rifle was authorized by the department the length in no longer an issue. Cops are exempt under state laws because of a specific federal statute. The case is over as the court examines this in the normal course of business.

    About the barrel itself:
There are after-market barrels you can install on your own AR-15. They make them really short and installing those requires federal registration for civilians.

You can get the shortest civilian barrel that’s shorter than the original one installed on the rifle. That one is just at 16.1 inches and legal for civilians to own.
The barrels all have serious threading on the muzzle and the complicated chamber machining on the breach end. Nobody is going to do all that work just to make it 3/8” too short.

The State Police obviously measured the barrel wrong like Crimefile pointed out.

As Crimefile said barrel length is really moot no matter how long or short because of the federal exemption for local police.

  32. The state police goofed really bad here. Let’s say they get an evidence thin case for murder against Drew Peterson. Peterson’s lawyer will be able to show the great lengths the State police went to frame him. Also they can’t justify revoking his gun card. It clearly looks like they are out to frame him for sure.

  33. OT: It is kind of slow around here, so I will add some humor for the evening. Y’all have a good night! Long, but a good giggle.

Danya/Gatehouse – Please feel free to delete if you find it inappropriate. 😀

HOW MANY GROUP POSTERS DOES IT TAKE TO CHANGE A LIGHT BULB?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

53 to flame the spell checkers

    41 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it’s “lightbulb” or “light bulb” …

another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is “lamp”

15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that “light bulb” is perfectly correct

156 to email the participant’s ISPs complaining that they are in violation of their “acceptable use policy”

109 to post that this group is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb group

203 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum, and lightbulb group about changing light bulbs be stopped

111 to defend the posting to this group saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts *are* relevant to this group

306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty

27 to post URL’s where one can see examples of different light bulbs

14 to post that the URL’s were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL’s

3 to post about links they found from the URL’s that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group

33 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add “Me too”

12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

19 to quote the “Me too’s” to say “Me three”

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ

44 to ask what is a “FAQ”

4 to say “didn’t we go through this already a short time ago?”

143 to say “do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs”

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again….

  34. LOL Rescue.

I hope you don’t think I made that up. Someone e-mailed it to me, and I just found it humorous.

  35. Oh, and with regards to JB’s alleged post about the “fake” JB posters:

“…if from *NOW* on…” is what caught my greenish eye.

  36. If it’s out there, I know you’ll find it, Basherette.

HJ – See what happens when everybody goes to their corners and stays there? Gets boring here.

  37. Drew last qualified with the weapon in May 14, 2005 and according to Joel, Drew modified the weapon in 2006.

Is it true that they are talking about TWO DIFFERENT weapons because of the modification?

Is it true that Drew NEVER qualified with the weapon in its modified state?

IMO that may be true …. maybe because the BBPD no longer used secondary qualification forms … but TRUE that Drew did not qualify with that weapon in its modified state …

It will be interesting to see what the judge says.

  38. Modifications don’t cange anythinng. The gun serial number is what to watch and they did not bother recording that. They wanted to keep a record of what type of weapon their officers could handle.

They even stopped keeping this record. Is that peterson or his lawyer’s fault.

It’s time to stop screwing around and find Stacy or her body. This gun case is an embarasement to local law enforcement already.
