  1. Good morning! Happy blogging!

And keep your eyes out for Harmony!

If you spot her, please don’t go home and send a letter to Amanda letting her know you saw her in the grocery store.

Please do not take pictures of your family with Harmony in the backgroundpictures.

I don’t think you need to call 911 … just tell Harmony to post on Kimmer’s site. 😉

  2. I don’t think that you guys should make fun of the Body hunters. They have been doing some work in the search for Stacy, too. remember Brian, the dream interpreter? He’s got a long thread going with clues about Stacy. Gale is part of his group, and they had so many so many people sending in tips from all over the country, with suggestions of locations, based on their impressions, that they had to go down and search for themselves. I don’t think all psychics are legit, but at least Gale went down to help. They raised the money from personal donations, and drove down there, even though they hadn’t met their modest $1,500 goal to make the trip possible.

  3. I wonder…….why This Body Hunter Group was not called in for the Stacy Peterson and Lisa Steibic case. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm 🙂

  4. They don’t get called in. Gale is both a mother and a grandmother, I think she had an overwhelming desire to go down and help the best she could. She owns her own cadaver dog. She doesn’t seem to think that Caylee’s going to be found alive, either.
Local people have sent them pictures of places around here that reminded them of things Brian had seen in dreams. I just don’t think that they have narrowed down where to look. The canal is pretty big.

  5. Why isn’t the Texas EquiSearch Team (or whatever they were called) that helped with the Natalie Holloway and Stacy Peterson searches helping now that they have an area around the airport to consider.

The way I look at it – when someone is missing I’d accept whatever avenue found her whether it was a psychic, fake psychic, or just someone who happened to be out for a stroll.

I think that is the problem with many of the psychic leads. In hindsight you can often find things that match the description that the person gave. I do think there are some people that are truly psychic but I think the vast majority that charge for their services are completely fake.

  7. http://briansprediction.com/MISSING/publicr/542.htm
This is the search clues for Stacy. Sorry the other link that I posted was for Stacy’s Mom. There are also threads for Lisa Stebic and Rachel Mellon, as well as countless others. Sure, you can say that their descriptions are vague. I’m a skeptic, too. I don’t think Brian is all he makes out that he is. That’s why I he’s got a team together, to get some others like Travis and Gale involved who do have some gifts. I’ve watched some programs on A&E about psychic kids. I do believe that some are born with gifts, who can be taught to use them for the greater good.

  8. If Gale is saying that Caylee is dead, and Grandpa George is saying she was kidnapped and is still alive … who do you believe?

Personally, I think she would have been better off keeping her connection to the Body Hunters quiet and just doing her thing.

But I think she wanted the free advertising. In case those donations stopped coming in. IMO

  9. I’m curious if they will organize a foot search of that area near the airport that was indicated by the cellphone pings (for Caylee). I hope so.

  10. Can they tell what tower specifically her phone pinged off of? Or just that it was one of 15 or whatever in that area?

If they can tell that she pinged off #6 for example, would they be able to tell where she had to have been to have that particular tower register the ping?

  11. I wonder whether Gale and her cadaver dogs will go to that area. I would think even to “rule it out” would be a good idea.

Does Casey have an explanation for why she was in that area on that day? 🙄

  12. I’m watching the video on the pinging now … so they can tell what time of day she was there and the direction her car was traveling.

    Interesting.

  13. Police are saying that the wooded area ping is a false statement. They have no idea where this rumor started. Maybe they just want everyone out of that area? On Fox, they are now saying the opposite. 👿 I hope they find her soon.

Hi I read alot here, not much time to post, but if I remember right, there was a long thread at FSP about this psychic (I think it was this one, correct me if I’m wrong) having a book signing at a Barnes and Noble in BB.
This person was previously employed there and they were working on a plan to get Cass hooked up with her. Does anyone else recall this?

  15. In regards to the psychic’s-I think that it was on Greta the other night that there has not been one case solved by a psychic. Don’t shoot the messenger! Blame Greta and her panel-please 🙂

And sorry for misspelling your name, but…it could have been worse!

LOL! It’s not like you haven’t done that before 😉

  17. Well Rescue – Isn’t everyone on these sites Drew at one point or another?? So today you must be Drew! 😀

  18. Think & Rescue – As my grandmother used to say, “Oh, that poor man! He’s stuck being HIMSELF the rest of his life!”

  19. Coffeecity – That is histerical and I am telling you now that some day I’m going to steal that line and use it!! LOL

It is really a slow news day isn’t it? Now you have Drew pretty much in hiding – I have not heard a peep out of him nor Joel. Now you have the Anthony’s not talking to the media.

But the started the Air Show downtown today so I get to keep seeing planes buzzing by the Sears Tower . I’m pretty close to it and on the 39th floor so we have some really good views here.

  20. think-the Grandmother of Caylee Anthony was interviewed by the police again today. The “family” is thinking about hiring a spokesperson. ❓

Is there any hearsay law news?

  21. roaminrroaminround // August 15, 2008 at 12:02 pmound // August 15, 2008 at 12:02 pm

    *************************

It was Lisa Williams and it was never stated publicly if Cass ever met or talked with Lisa Williams. Lisa has a website. Last I checked there was nothing publicly on her site about it. Sorry I dont have the web address but I know if you google her it will come right up. Happy Hunting 🙂

  22. Think – Feel free to use and enjoy. If you think of it – credit it to general “Grandma Wisdom.” 🙂

  23. Hearsay Law News – no, but the Gov did put his pen to paper for poverty. He signed legislation to establish a Commission to eliminate poverty. ❓

As to Drew’s quietness ~ I think they know something is in the works. Brodsky has claimed to have a “good” relationship with the State’s Attorney’s Office and asked that they contact him when they’re coming for Drew. Although, he did go on LKL and state emphatically that that’s never going to happen, Drew getting charged. Hmmm.

Maybe, between being notified about the tapes and possibly being told to make plans for the kids, etc., the time has come for Drew to shut up. Or, maybe he found out someone else was taping him, and his house of cards is falling down around him. There’s got to be a reason they’ve been so quiet.

  24. Quiet – which is nice, for a change, very, very nice. It means they’re not bashing the victims, the victims’ families, friends, supporters, searchers; also Drew’s family members, his former friends………………….

everybody is escaping the wrath of Drew and Brodsky this week. Nice.

  25. rescue-he signed a few other laws into effect. They said that he had the paperwork on his desk and we should all call, but it wasn’t on his desk at the time. What do you know-the polititicians and the media didn’t tell the truth or they misled us. 😯

They announced that it is NOW on the desk, how long does it take to read it and sign it? Should we start calling since it is reported to be on his desk now? I dunno.

  26. Ducky – To be honest, I believe the officials involved with this Hearsay bill knew exactly when it would wind up on the Gov’s desk, they know when it will be signed, and they know when they’ll go get Peterson. In fact, for all we know, he could have signed that bill into law yesterday, maybe even today. They put out the press releases when they decide to, and the rest of us are on an as-need-to-know basis. Politic and politicians. Everything is a big secret until they decide it’s not.

  27. Hmmm. I don’t remember seeing before that this state law borrows from something that has already been added to Federal Law:

“Senate Bill 2718 borrows from a rule in Federal courts that assists prosecutors in pursuing organized crime and drug cartels. In those particular cases, criminals killed, threatened or bribed witnesses to silence them. With the enactment of this bill, criminal defendants could no longer benefit from their illegal activities at trial by claiming that statements from witnesses they silenced are hearsay.”

    Source: http://www.senatedem.ilga.gov/GH_ShowArticle.asp?HID=742

When I look up the Federal Rules of Evidence (http://www.uscourts.gov/rules/Evidence_Rules_2007.pdf) it states:

“(6) Forfeiture by wrongdoing. A statement offered against a party that has engaged or acquiesced in wrongdoing that was intended to, and did, procure the unavailability of the declarant as a witness.”

So now I’m curious to know if this Federal Law has successfully been used in any trials and if it withstood appealed.

  28. More reading regarding appeals for the “Forfeiture by Wrongdoing” clause in the Federal Rule:

    http://www.crimblawg.com/2006/12/cal_supremes_to.html

    http://lawprofessors.typepad.com/evidenceprof/2007/11/in-june-2002-ji.html

The following links states that 804b6 clause has been in place for 20 years and:

“Every federal circuit court of appeal, and a number of state courts, has found that,
under these circumstances, forfeiture of Sixth Amendment rights is appropriate. The
constitutionality of the doctrine of forfeiture by wrongdoing has been accepted by every federal
circuit court of appeal that has considered it, without exception, as reflected in the following
    table:
    First Circuit
    United States v.
    Houlihan,
    92 F. 3d 1271, 1279
    (1st Cir. 1996).
“Though the Confrontation Clause is a
cornerstone of our adversary system of
justice, it is not an absolute . . . [m]oreover,
a defendant may waive his right to
    confrontation by knowing and intentional
    relinquishment . . . [w]hile a waiver of right
to confront witnesses typically is express,
the law is settled that a defendant also
may waive it through his intentional
misconduct . . . . By the same token, courts
will not suffer a party to profit by his own
    wrongdoing. Thus, a defendant who
wrongfully procures a witness’s absence for
the purpose of denying the government that
witness’s testimony waives his right under
the Confrontation Clause to object to the
admission of the absent witness’s hearsay
    statements.” (Internal citations omitted).”

    Link: http://www.stattorney.org/documents/lawforumarticle.pdf

  29. So now then – if there is a federal law on the books why doesn’t it automatically flow through to state law if there is no specific law excluding it?? Isn’t that a similar argument to what they are trying to do for the gun charges by saying that a Federal Law trumps a State Law unless specifically stated otherwise?

  31. Hmm. Someone said that Eyewitness News source (not sure if it was Channel 9) had gotten the information from the cell phone company. Wonder how they did that – and if they did someone there is going to be in much hot water.

  32. thinkaboutit – I’m not sure how Federal Courts vs. State Courts works with regard to legal Rules of Procedure, but I would think it goes something like this.

Hearsay, for the most part, is not admissible into evidence, with certain exceptions. It seems that since the Illinois legislators created a specific exception to the Hearsay rule based on the Federal Hearsay rule that aids prosecutors in organized crime and drug cartel trials, where witnesses may have been killed to silence them, they expanded on this at the State level. This is to ensure that a witness (not involved in organized crime or drug cartel, as in the Federal Hearsay exception), who would have otherwise testified in a murder trial, was, in fact, silenced by the accused and couldn’t testify.

Of course, the criminal defense attorney would argue that his client has a right to confront the witness, but the State would have to show that it was he that killed the witness to keep that from happening.

It is my understanding then, at the (Illinois) State level, there is no Hearsay exception that would allow this, but for this new bill/law.

    Make sense?

I know-this is where I got the information. Right after this came up-the police released a statement that it’s not substantiated. Now, all the news stations are saying reported, alleged, possible, conflicting etc. It’s from this ONE source and nobody is confirming it. UGH!

The police were near the airport yesterday, right? Is that an unknown source that said that too?

  34. Rescue – Sorry I was actually trying to be a bit sarcastic on my theory that a Federal Law such as that should trump the local law because that is the argument right now with the gun charge.

I was just being a bad girl.

  35. “On Sunday, August 17, World Famous Bounty Hunter Leonard Padilla and his nephew Tony Padilla, owner of Tony Padilla Bail Bonds of Sacramento, CA., will be traveling to Orlando with two of Leonard Padilla’s associates. Also on Friday, the family of Caylee Anthony appointed a spokesman known for his work on other high-profile cases.

Larry Garrison will now be answering questions from the media, Cindy Anthony said.

Garrison, president of production company SilverCreek Entertainment, co-authored a book on the disappearance of missing Alabama teenager Natalie Holloway.

Garrison was also a spokesman for the family of John Mark Karr, the man who gained notoriety for falsely confessing to the murder of JonBenet Ramsey.

  37. Sheriff problems?

    h ttp://www.wftv.com/news/17193405/detail.html

SHERIFF BEARY BREAKS SILENCE ON ANTHONY CASE

Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary spoke about the search for Caylee Anthony for the first time on Thursday (raw interview). He pleaded for more “credible” information from the public. He insists he’s been hard at work behind the scenes

In his 16 years as Orange County sheriff, Kevin Beary has not been one to shy away from the camera, whether it’s taking a zap from a taser on live TV or allowing a reality TV crew to follow him or shedding tears for deputies who put their lives in danger to fight crime.

But in the case of missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony, Beary has been noticeably absent from the spotlight.

“This might be the biggest missing persons case Orange County has seen in a long time. Why haven’t we heard from you on this until now?” WFTV reporter Eric Rasmussen asked Beary.

“Because I think, bottom line, I’ve got a very qualified staff. They’ve done a phenomenal job, you get briefed every day and I have done a few interviews,” he said.

In the interview, Beary said he has deputies working around the clock to find Caylee and he bristled at a question about whether he’s playing less of a role with his long run as sheriff coming to an end in less than five months.

“Do you think you’re a lame duck here?” Rasmussen asked.

“If I’m a lame duck, you should’ve been out until three o’clock in the morning, when I rode last Friday night all over this community. My last day is January 5th, 2009. This is one of those cases I want to solve and, for those who think I’m a lame duck, they need to go get a real job,” he said.

In the final months as sheriff, Kevin Beary said he already has resources across the state committed to come in and help with the search if investigators get a break in the case.

grandam… this Larry Garrison is a vulture who feeds off the rotting flesh of victims.

    Read this:

When John Mark Karr got lonely during long nights in federal custody—when his thoughts turned to the media, to film and to book deals (and, it turns out, to Diane Sawyer)—the man he called was Larry Garrison, an independent television producer.

“And he called collect,” Mr. Garrison said.

Mr. Garrison said that his cell-phone bill from that month was more than $2,000. That included not just Mr. Karr’s jailhouse calls, but the cost of fielding calls from every major broadcast outlet, and a lot of the minor ones, too. All were looking to land the first television interview with Mr. Karr, the lissome, spooky-eyed man who had falsely confessed to killing JonBenét Ramsey.

Mr. Garrison, who is based in Ventura County, Calif., specializes in packaging high-profile cases. In TV parlance, he is a “story broker.” When something bad happens, story brokers are the people who help criminals and victims monetize their villainy or grief. They place themselves as middlemen between the supply of human drama and the demand for it—so news organizations have to do business with them.

And Mr. Garrison is the “king” of that business, according to multiple sources at ABC, the network that reached an initial agreement about interviewing Mr. Karr.

“He finds a way for ordinary people to profit from extraordinary circumstances,” one ABC source said.

Some brokers—the disreputable ones, in Mr. Garrison’s account—provide a means for news outlets to bid on big-get interviews without the ethically messy expedient of paying the subject. Instead, the winning network or tabloid will arrange to interview the subject for free, while paying a hefty “licensing fee” for home videos or personal photographs to accompany the story. (Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s widow chose this month to go with ABC and Barbara Walters; NBC offered $500,000 in licensing fees, according to a source with knowledge of the deal, but CBS and ABC offered between $750,000 and $1 million each.)

The pejorative term for those brokers is “fixers.” Mr. Garrison views himself not as an auctioneer but as a consultant and advisor—and a professional journalist in his own right. What he sells to the networks is production assistance on the stories he helps set up.

Mr. Garrison is also an author—his latest book, describing his work, is called The Newsbreaker—and he and the networks sometimes work out a promotional appearance for him as a quid pro quo.

Mr. Garrison has handled media deals for two Michael Jackson jurors, the relatives of Robert Blake’s dead wife, the family of vanished-in-Aruba teen Natalee Holloway and Joran van der Sloot, the chief suspect in Ms. Holloway’s disappearance. He relies, he says, on a collection of “over 80 people out in the field that just bring me stories.”

So when a celebrity trial is convened or a cheerleader vanishes, Mr. Garrison is often the first person at the principals’ side, offering comfort and media coaching. He shops their book proposals and produces their movies.

    Link: h ttp://www.observer.com/node/52801

  57. Amanda-what kind of package do you want? LOL! I’ve heard stories about you-KIDDING! Thanks for looking-much appreciated!

I heard that Larry was spokesperson for John Mark Karr and thought that it might be a perfect match with Cindy Anthony. 🙂 Sorry, but I don’t think that she has been 100% honest and I can’t imagine not give LE every single detail to find Caylee. OH-I forgot HONEST detail 👿

  58. So when a celebrity trial is convened or a cheerleader vanishes, Mr. Garrison is often the first person at the principals’ side, offering comfort and media coaching. He shops their book proposals and produces their movies.

Oh, well, I guess when there’s news, there will be so much, it’ll be hard to keep it all straight. Comes in waves.

  60. Yep, It seems to be quiet all around tonight. Well shoot, Superman is whining, he wants me to watch a movie with him, The funny part is it’s one of the Batman movies. I havent a clue which one either. Oh well, Have a nice evening, I will be back in the morning. G’nite

  61. Oh, how special. Casey Anthony is going to get out of jail.

So, now what do her parents do? Chain her to her bedroom to keep her in the house? You know that’s not going to happen. Or, do they tell her you don’t move from this house unless it’s to search for your daughter? If the parents think they’ve got problems with her lying now, they’ll really have their hands full , especially if they lose any control over her comings and goings. Hope they’re not going to continue to be her enablers.

Unless, they truly and honestly are keeping to themselves that they believe their precious granddaughter is gone, and they’re just walking on eggshells with their daughter until she gives them what they really want – information. I suppose they can’t come straight out to the media and admit their daughter is mentally unbalanced and risk peeing her off even more. I guess they have no choice but to continue to play Casey’s game.

ORLANDO, Fla. — A group of Internet bloggers following the case of a missing Orlando girl have united and are searching wooded areas of Central Florida for the child in a mystery that continues to grab the nation’s attention.

The group of bloggers scoured several wooded areas of Blanchard Park over the weekend for clues into the disappearance of missing Caylee Anthony.

The group found what they believe may be items of interest; two colorful book bags and some clothing hidden in the woods about a mile from a location where a car belonging to the Casey Anthony (Caylee’s mother) was abandoned…

  63. As someone who has gone thru a few “episodes” with her sister who is bipolar with OCD etc etc…
Casey sounds very much like an out of control person who is bipolar. Thankfully what my sister did before being diagnosed was not murder…nevertheless, her “out of control” spiral deeply affected us all.
Her parents remind me of my dad who stuck his head in the sand and refused to let my sister get the therapy she needed years ago.

Just do not see a “happy ending” coming from this one. 😦

  64. Today’s thoughts from Joel A. Brodsky. Joel knows all about France and its national attitude towards infidelity and he’d like to share his wisdom with you!

Extra points to him for suggesting a correlation between marital fidelity and poor leadership. 😉

    “Joel A. Brodsky said…
The US attitude toward sexual fidelity of its leaders and politicians is unique. For example in France a successful man is expected to have a mistress. It is so expected that a mans wife would be embarrassed to find that her husband lacks a publicly known mistress, because it would mean her husband is not a successful and powerful man. In most other European countries a politicians extramarital sex life is considered irrelevant. Why are we in the US so fixated on this issue? I have some ideas, but suffice it to say I would rather have Bill Clinton back in the White House, with Monica as his full time private intern, than have that mental midget George W. Bush with his fidelity to his wife.

  65. Joel knows all about “voice tapes” and wants you to know that it’s not so much the content but the character of the people doing the recording and/or transcribing that counts!

    ” Joel A. Brodsky said…
The issue of voice tapes is something I have had to deal with over the years. To a great extent the relevance and the accuracy of what is on voice tapes depends on the credibility of the people making the tapes and the motivations and biases of those processing and transcribing the tapes. The fact remains that there is no silver bullet in a criminal investigation. Everything is open to question, and should be questioned.

Found it … and links are going to spam again. 😀

  67. I went back and read the comments from Legal Pub’s Darrel Johnson blog.

    http://legalpublication.blogspot.com/2008/08/does-darrell-johnson-turning-up-alive.html

They seemed to have gone a little off-topic from the original point of the story … but it made for some interesting Sunday afternoon reading.

FYI, only the comment from “NoWay” is mine … but I did see a poster using “blogboardforum” in their post. (Dang! I should have copyrighted that phrase while I could have!)

  68. Hmmm. The credibility of the people making the tapes and their motivations, huh?

Well, LE, I am sure, was scooping up those tapes on a pretty regular basis. In fact, I wonder if they were able to hear the tapes simultaneously. If not, wouldn’t it be pretty obvious they took possession of those tapes quickly?

But, I guess Brodsky is right. Everything is open to question, and it will be up to the fair and balanced jury to decide whether Drew’s voice on those tapes, and what he is saying, is outweighed by Lenny & Paula’s financial and other legal difficulties. If they can place more importance on that rather than the tapes, well, then, I guess they can set a suspected murder free after all.

See, it’s better to be under a cloud of suspicion in two death investigations than to be persons that file for bankruptcy (you too, Joel) and misdemeanor charges (oh, Joel, you were suspended for three months by the Bar Association).

    Hmmm.

  69. Also up to the jury to see if they trust LE to properly transcribe the tapes and not be biased. Of course, if they hear the tapes in court, that will be a moot point.

  70. I wonder….What will JB’s book be titled..I am thinking something along the lines of……

The Complete Idiots Guide to Defending a Murder Suspect.

  71. The Complete Idiots Guide to Defending a Murder Suspect.

How to Send Your Client to Death Row in 10 Easy Steps.

I think these titles are a little long WW … something shorter and catchier is needed IMO. 😉
