Drew Peterson: “The Devil Won This Round.”

The segment that was taped a few days ago at the Peterson home aired this morning on the MSNBC Today Show.

I typed up a transcript and you can read it here.

  1. I groaned aloud when the interviewer asked Chrissy is she was bothered by Stacy’s pictures and things being around the house, and Drew piped up and said “I don’t think she wants to answer that.”

Why didn’t Robach take her to task for dragging her kids in to a household that will most likely be torn apart when dad goes to prison?

  2. She seems less mature than my 16-year-old in the way she responded and giggling about wanting one more kid (never realizing that at 24 she is going to be called Grandma Chrissy!). Her look and lack of an answer (followed by Drew answering for her) about Stacy’s picture struck me most though. All of the forced laughs, smiles, cuddling, and a kiss were just odd. I wish that NBC5 (and others) would put out their raw interviews on their website. If people did that then Chrissy could see the whole thing which would negate any creative “editing” that Drew says is going on.

  3. I wonder if this interview will now mean “game on” for the media to not treat her with kid gloves anymore. When the tanning salon girl was dating him they followed her and asked her questions all the time.

  4. It’s rumored that Drew has had a vasectomy. I hope he’s told Chrissy if that’s the case.

I agree, TAI, she appeared very childish in her responses.

As for Drew, it’s too bad he couldnt come up with anything to describe what makes his new love different from his other four wives. I really do think he feels that women (and people in gneral) are all sort of interchangable.

Her family must watch this and just dispair. She’s an adult and there’s nothing they can do.

  5. Drew thinks he is such a womanizer. The way I see him is a complete failure, married four times and still can’t keep a woman…

  6. And, WTF, I thought the whole purpose of the interview was to explain what had prompted the “engagement stunt” fiasco, and yet there wasn’t one mention of that.

I couldn’t care less about why they are attracted to each other. It’s pretty clear isn’t it? He’s a predatory control-freak and she’s emotionally unstable and searching for a father figure to take care of her.

I don’t understand why MSNBC indulged and coddled these two.

Vasectomies can be reversed though. My ex brother-in-law did this. He got one without telling my sister (she wanted more kids and he did not) until the procedure was over (he didn’t have her go with), ended up dumping her after 20+ years of marriage for a girl that was only 2 years older than their daughter, got married to the girl, reversed his vasectomy, and now has a child with her.

I had posted something somewhere (I’m getting too old to remember) that I said the same thing about his lovers/girlfriends/fiances/wives/ex-wives being objects that are easily replaceable. Doesn’t really matter who is there as long as someone is and they are taking care of his manly needs.

  8. That was very unpleasant to watch, all that laughing and rolling of eyes. Can’t really think of anything more to say except the reality show deal can’t be going well if he’s inviting offers for same. Yuck and yuck.

Why am I hearing Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain” song in my head with slightly different lyrics

You’re So Vain. You probably think Brittney’s song (Womanizer) is about you”.

Getting Away With Murder, Not Once, But Twice?

    by Susan Murphy-Milano

The house located at 392 Pheasant Court, Bolingbrook, IL, became a cold case crime scene 4 years after a botched “local good old boys” police investigation.

The major screw-up also resulted in an incorrect autopsy report on a 2004 closed case file.

Will County State’s Attorney, James Glasgow asked the court for permission to exhume the body of it’s former resident, Kathleen Savio. On February 21, 2008, her death was reclassified as a homicide…

  11. He is very vane. I wonder what reflection he sees in mirrors, it can;t possibly be the same one as we see, he totally makes me sick…

  12. Notice that there was not one mention or question about if Chrissy was worried about bouncing her own 2 children around from boyfriend to boyfriend. I hope she talks to someone about the consequences to them. When you have kids the world cannot be just about you anymore – they need to come first. Put aside who she is with and what he is accused of. Children suffer when father figures are pulled into and then ripped out of their lives over and over.

Here is what I posted elsewhere that I’m reposting here if she happens to read this and wants to see real-life insight as to how this affected my nephew and niece:

I can give you an insight as to what could very well happen to the kids. I am not a psychologist but I have two very dear children who I’ve personally witnessed go through this.

My niece and nephew have moved around from place to place all of their life as their mom had about 5-6 different fiances (never married) that I can think of. I know at least 2-3 of them were abusive towards my sister who would not listen to my advice. My nephew wrote a paper when he was in 7th grade about how all that he wanted was to be able to stay in the same school until he graduated because he had already been to 6 schools since he started kindergarten.

The kids never feel a sense of belonging. They never look towards the future and are focused on when the rug will be pulled out from under them and they’ll have to move again. They never get to keep friends very long. They fall behind in school because school districts follow different patterns for their curriculum (so they relearn things twice and are expected to know things they never did). They start to hang out with the other lost kids and all self-medicate together. They often don’t have respect for authority because they had so many different people rotating in and out of their life that they figure there is no need to listen to the person because in a while they will no longer have to deal with them. They turn to alcohol, drugs, and petty crime.

It isn’t a pretty thing. Trust me.

The shots I’ve seen about a kid coming through this right now are 50/50. My niece is doing well and is fighting to not be like her mom while my nephew has struggled tremendously over this and is now in Cook County jail on drug charges. Sad thing is my nephew seemed to be the one that was less affected on the outside but we found out too late that he kept his struggles inside until he gave up almost overnight. He went from being on the honor roll to getting Fs, cutting class, and using drugs on his way to school within a school year.

  13. Oh gosh, it looks like we have the same kitchen canisters…

Chrissy mentioned family a lot and how that’s what she’s looking for. She’s entering a family already torn apart by death, suspicion, anger and fear. What kind of stability does she think this will afford her and her kids?

I wonder what they’ll do with this family photo display – just slip her photo in over Stacy’s?

  14. Chrissy is a great example of just how how hard it is to get a loved one out of a bad relationship.

The facts are in front of her but she doesn’t see them like we do. She may not see them clearly until it’s too late. Sadly.

  15. She should watch it over and over….the part where she says she just wants her family at the wedding, and then has to answer that they would probably not attend. She needs to see those conflicts.

I think the pics of Stacy everywhere is a bit of an issue. I think she wants to redecorate, too.

  16. I am more convinced than ever that neither one of them has told the truth about their history together.

He has painted his ex-wives for Christina as above all ungrateful.

  17. “[Drew] has a good heart,” Raines told Robach. “[He’s] very caring and I don’t think he will ever hurt me or anyone else.”
    * * * *
    ….AGAIN

  18. I think that it would be terrible to his kids for a new girl to come in, put away all of Stacy’s photos, and redecorate from what she had done.

But on the otherhand, it can appear kind of creepy and kind of like he’s keeping the stuff around as a “trophy” of some sort.

Did Tamara Holder (?) ever spill the beans on what Chrissy said about Drew?

Is she trying to protect Chrissy from Drew?

    ***

No and I don’t think she will.

  21. Sorry my comment was referring to if she spilled the beans. I’d imagine part of her reason not to give any more information than what Chrissy has publicly said herself is to protect her.

I agree Bucket. She says that she knew Drew from before and he’s always been nice to her. It makes me think they ran into each other more often than when she was a 15-year old runaway and 6 months ago at a club.

  23. TAI … I guess that’s the way it goes. Secrets, secrets, and more secrets. We’ll have to wait until the day Drew is arrested and someone writes a book.

  24. It seems that the girl Tamara talked with and the girl on this video tape are two different people.

From Tamara’s website: Her stories of Drew depicted a man who is controlling and flat-out creepy.

    http://tamaraholder.squarespace.com/blog/2009/2/12/drew-petersons-girlfriend-moves-back-in-his-mind-games-preva.html#comments

On the Today Show, Chrissy is laughing and and giggling during the whole interview:

I don’t believe he’ll hurt anyone. He’s nice. He has a good heart. Very caring, and I don’t think he’ll ever hurt me or anyone else.

    Pretty scary.

  25. Aren’t we all hens though so we’re giving the eggs away for free rather than the milk?? I’d much rather be called a hen than a cow! LOL! 😉

  26. I’ve got a transcript typed up now – for your copying, pasting and quoting pleasure:

  27. This is what Tamara said:

Some of the things she said are so creepy that, out of courtesy, I do not want to share them with you. One thing she did say that has really stuck with me (that I do not mind sharing) is that she felt, after spending many hours alone in the house, there was no way Stacy could have just up-and-left her kids. The way the kids’ rooms were decorated and other parts of the house…she believed it was the home of loving mother who would not willingly abandon her little children. She also stated Stacy’s clothes remained in the closet. How weird! I mean, is she now supposed to “share” closet space with Stacy? The idea is bizarre but not a far stretch of the imagination.

  29. Remember what Chrissy’s cousin said:

I would tell her to get out and leave that boy – leave that guy – alone. She’s been messing with him for years…and just leave it alone and find someone her own age. Find someone who will love her and stop trying to find someone to just take care of her and just get out of it. I don’t want to see my cousin in the paper saying that she’s missing and the kids have no mom. I think that would be really really sad and they’re awesome kids.

  30. She met Drew when she was 15 and a teenager running amok. (Drew)

In this latest interview, Chrissy says she knew him while he was married to Stacy.

ROBACH: You’ve known him from before. You’ve known him when he was still married to Stacy.

    RAINES: Yes.

They ran into each other in a club and he gave her his number and she called him. (Drew)

IMO … Cousin Jenny (I think that’s her name) is telling it the way it is. Drew just skipped the middle part. About any contact with Chrissy between the time she was a teen and running into her at the club.

  31. I saw her interview during the breakup and she was so clearly under his mind control and really seemed possessed. She rolled her eyes staring at the ceiling and didn’t respond to many of the questions and the silence was quite long.

  32. The other thing I want to mention is, since she’s already humiliated him once, he will eventually find a way to punish her for it. He’s a malignant narcissist and they don’t forgive that kind of thing. He will most definitely end up abusing her again.

  33. Noway – I kind of wanted to smack Robach when she used phrases like “while he was still married to Stacy” or “Who he believes is still alive”.

    1. Drew is married to Stacy and remains that way.

    2. We have no way of knowing what Drew believes, only what he claims to be the truh.

  34. Hi brainchannels,

Yes, you could already see the aggression in Drew when he teased Chrissy during that interview.

That teasing is a sort of passive-aggressive way of making someone feel stupid or unsure of themselves. It reinforces feelings of superiority and control on the part of the person doing the teasing.

  35. If I were a reporter on this case, I’d hunt down cousin Jenny (Raines? I think her dad is Joe Raines) and try to find out more about Chrissy’s history with Drew.

  36. Blogburst – good idea bucket! I’ll see about submissions.

Can the Today show stop humoring Drew Peterson?
Posted Feb 13th 2009 10:01AM by Joel Keller

I just finished watching Today’s Amy Robach interview creepy Chicago cop Drew Peterson and his half-his-age fiancee, Christina Raines. This is the umpteenth interview the show has had with Peterson, as accusations have abounded that he had something to do with the death of his third wife and the disappearance of his fourth, who’s still missing. This engagement itself has been extremely odd, as Raines has already broken it once, saying that the whole thing was a publicity stunt. Now, apparently, she’s back with him, calling him “funny” and “caring,” while he snickers. I can’t even describe the douche chills I felt while watching this thing.

Why does Today seem to be especially fascinated with this story? You know Peterson is calling the producers any chance he gets, trying to come up with any angle that will get him back in front of their cameras. Now the angle is that some other woman has fallen for his “charms”, despite what happened to his last two wives and despite the fact that Peterson hasn’t divorced his missing fourth wife yet.

Robach asked all the right questions, at the very least. She asked why Raines would take a chance with Peterson despite his history. But she also asked lovey-dovey questions like whether they plan on having more kids and why she wants to be with Peterson. I would have asked her about her relationship with her father — who thinks Peterson is the devil, by the way — and why she even agreed to come on the air if she wanted to keep this private.

At this point, Executive Producer Jim Bell and his staff really need to stop taking Peterson’s calls. A story that started off as slightly fascinating has become pretty sad. And at this point, I’m not sure who’s looking sadder: Peterson for his media whorishness, or Today for its status as his enabler.

Rebound to Romance: The Drew Peterson Way

    By Ben Bowman

Looking for love this Valentine’s Day? Take a few pointers from a bona fide romance expert: Drew Peterson.

    1. Move on. Regardless of your past relationships, there’s always a new one on the horizon. If tragedy should befall you, don’t spend years, weeks or even days mourning. You’ll always have time to reflect later. Now is the time for action!

    2. Put yourself out there. It’s the only way to meet new people. Get out of the house. Have your friends introduce you to people they know. Hire a publicity firm and go on national television… etc.

  42. Gatekeep – Is that a widget in your sidebar or are you just happy to see us?? LOL!

Bucket, I think it was a friend of the girl who checked them in at the hotel? Was that it? I remember vaguely.

😀 I wonder if she still works there? Wish she’d find a bloc and let us know if that was Chrissy (or who it was).

I can’t remember who Drew was rumored to have been dating then … I’ve blocked it out, I guess.

  44. I read that TM’s brother is going to be on TV at 5 (Channel 2). Something about Tom having a gag order?

Is that true or just Internet rumor? I’m waiting for a response from the blogger to confirm …

  45. I’ve also heard there will be some local news coverage on CBS 2 at 5.

That’s not exactly confirmation though is it?

I’ll set the DVR just in case.

  46. Interesting stuff, though not any new information. Tom Morphey’s brother, John, was interviewed (on a play ground, with blue trash barrels in the shot) and he re-iterated that Tom felt he had moved Stacy’s dead body the night of her disappearance, that Tom had never tried to kill himself before that day and that it was very strange for Peterson to personally visit Tom in the hospital on the day that LE was trying to locate his missing wife.

It was just nice to get some coverage relating to the actual case, again.

Peterson’s Lover Moves Back In, Police Turn Up (2/11/2009)

Drew Peterson has long been considered a suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy. And while he’s gone before the cameras many times, the man many consider to be the linchpin of the case against Peterson has never talked publicly.

    CBS 2’s Mike Puccinelli reports.

After Stacy Peterson disappeared, Thomas Morphey also disappeared for months. But he was being hidden away, sources say, by police.

His brother, John, will only say he was in a safe place. But on the crucial issue of what happened on the evening of Oct. 28, 2007 — he’s saying a lot more. Sources say Tom Morphey helped Drew Peterson move a barrel containing Stacy Peterson’s body from an upstairs bedroom into the back of her husband’s Yukon Denali.

Tom Morphey has been ordered by investigators not to talk to the media. So, his brother, John, is talking for a man who many consider to be the main witness in case. The brother said his sibling’s conscience is bothering him.

“I think he would do anything to take back the events of that night,” John Morphey, of St. Charles, said.

What made him think Stacy was inside that barrel?

“He said he just knew,” John Morphey said.

He says his brother’s conscience was bothering him so much on the day after he helped Drew Peterson move the blue barrel that he ended up in a hospital after taking a handful of pills and attempting to kill himself.

“He realized what he had done that night by helping dispose of Stacy’s body and realized that Drew would probably do whatever it took to keep him quiet,” John Morphey said. “He thought he would kill him or his family.”

Peterson says that’s ridiculous and that Tom, who is his step-brother, has mental health issues.

“He’s attempted to take his own life a few times,” Peterson told CBS 2 recently. “And now all of a sudden he’s become a hero to his family when before he was nothing but a loser to his family.”

John Morphey says that’s a lie and his brother never tried to kill himself before that day. And he says Peterson never showed any real concern for Tom until after his suicide attempt and showed up at his step-brother’s hospital bed on the same day Stacy was reported missing to police.

“On the day his wife went missing, what motivated him to go to the hospital to visit my brother?” John Morphey said. “Everyone can draw their own conclusions.”

Does Tom Morphey think Drew Peterson murdered Stacy?

“He doesn’t think — he knows that (Drew) murdered Stacy,” John Morphey said.

Drew Peterson says there never was a blue barrel and that Stacy Peterson abandoned her kids for another man.

  48. Oke it must be true then because Chrissie is an excellent judge of character:

Drew is a guy with a good heart and he will never hurt her or do anything to her.

That obviously also means Drew is no longer creepy, nothing weird happened in regard to Stacy’s clothes, the engagement wasn’t a stunt and its oke to get a 2nd hand engagement ring that once belonged to a woman either missing or dead.

  49. I guess they talked to the brother because Tom Morphey is still under the gag order.

Interesting that contrary to what Drew says, Tom had never tried to kill himself before. And interesting to note Drew’s sudden concern for Tom.

  50. “On the day his wife went missing, what motivated him to go to the hospital to visit my brother?” John Morphey said. “Everyone can draw their own conclusions.”

I think this should be the day after his wife went missing shouldn’t it?

  51. I wonder if she still works there? Wish she’d find a bloc and let us know if that was Chrissy (or who it was).

I can’t remember who Drew was rumored to have been dating then … I’ve blocked it out, I guess.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

It was around the time he was dating someone called Denise, but that did not appear to be the woman with two children he went to visit the waterpark with (?)

  52. IMO Drew is one of those scary evil people. The ones you never thought were capable of certain things.

Not the ones who have tempers, are violent, and let everyone know it.

The ones who quietly get even. This isn’t a game. The people involved need to realize that and stay away from him.

  53. Bucket, me too.

What would happen to this case if Tom Morphey isn’t around to testify and nobody can prove that Drew Peterson had anything to do with his disappearance?

Drew would go on talking about Tom’s “instability” and “mental issues” … and the devil would win again.

  54. Bucket,

River clean-up and nothing was undercovered or reported.

Wonder if CBS will have more from John M? I sure hope so. If they did a two part on Peterson, should do more on something of interest to the Stacy Peterson.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

That’s why Drew is hogging the Media at the moment, to keep the attention away from real issues such as Kitty Savio’s Estate !

I’m glad Drew openly confirmed Christina to be a “simple girl”.

Very demeaning to her, but exactly what Drew needs for his masterplan – a clueless patsy –

  56. and what on earth does he mean by “my personality kicks in” ?

does he normally walk around without a personality or did he mean to say:

    “my con kicks in”

  57. I’m still waiting for proof that Drew Peterson has a personality, so I can’t tell you what he meant by his personality kicking in.

I know it must be hard for Tom Morphey and his family to see the things Drew has to say about Tom. But Tom will get his chance, and it’s for the greater good that he stay away from Drew. Surely an arrest has to be coming soon.

  58. justanotherhen,

With Peterson saying she is a “simple girl”…

Is it possible that Christina had a learning disability? I don’t mean to sound mean or anything. But, with her father being so protective and all. What do you think?

  59. I don’t know whitesox, but I do know it is very demeaning to call the woman you love and sitting right next to you “simple”.

If he’s supposedly so in love he could have said Christina is a lovely girl, sweet girl, innocent girl even, but no he had to say Christina is a “simple” girl.

    Typical misogynistic Drew statement.

  60. facs,

Here is new article from Hosey. May want to start on new thread on this one….

Reality show for Peterson and fiancee?
    Drew reportedly in talks
    February 13, 2009

    By JOE HOSEY jhosey@scn1.com
BOLINGBROOK — It’s too bad they already have a reality show called “Survivor,” because there might not be a better title for a series starring Drew Peterson and the woman hoping to become his fifth wife, considering what became of spouses three and four.

A source said the recently engaged Peterson; his attorney Joel Brodsky; and neighbor-cum-flunky Steve Carcerano all are wheeling and dealing their way into a reality show with the help of a Las Vegas-based representative.

Peterson repeatedly refused to comment on whether he had a reality show in the works, but did say Friday during a “Today” show appearance with fiancee Christina Raines that he has interest in pursuing such a venture.

    Professional poker player?

The Las Vegas connection identified by the source denied having a deal done with Peterson but did admit to being in contact with him.

“I have talked to him,” said Matt Palmer, proprietor of 11Management.

“That’s my company,” Palmer said of 11Management. “I own it.”

Palmer described his role with 11Management by saying, “I represent talent.”

His page on the Web site LinkedIn said he founded 11Management in May 2007 and that the company is in the business of “professional poker representation.”

Peterson did not respond to questions about whether he has professional poker playing aspirations, but Palmer confirmed having a face-to-face with the former Bolingbrook cop.

“I have met with him,” Palmer said, refusing to disclose the details of his conversation with Peterson, who state police have named their sole suspect in the disappearance of fourth wife Stacy Peterson. State police also are investigating the unsolved homicide of Peterson’s third wife, Kathleen Savio.

None of this has stopped the 55-year-old Peterson from living with Raines, a 24-year-old unwed mother of two. Peterson also said he plans to marry Raines — just as soon as he divorces Stacy, the wife who vanished nearly 16 months ago. State police have labeled her disappearance a “potential homicide.”

    Link to Vegas

Two sources said Peterson traveled to Las Vegas around the last week in January. One of the sources said Peterson was meeting with Palmer, who was introduced to him by Steve Carcerano. Carcerano lives down the street from the Pheasant Chase Court house that Peterson shared with Stacy but now lives in with Raines and her two children. Carcerano resides even closer to the Pheasant Chase Drive home Peterson lived in with Savio and their two sons.

Carcerano was present the March 2004 night Savio was found drowned in her own dry bathtub.

Carcerano failed to return numerous calls for comment. Both sources said Carcerano is to be cut in on whatever revenue is generated by a reality series.

  61. Oke Drew’s statements so far in truly valueing Christina as a partner:

Christina is just a simple girl who asked him five or six times to get engaged/married and to stop her from asking again he rummaged around in the costume jewellery drawer, pulled out a ring that wasn’t worth much to give to her !

Oh Man, that Drew Peterson is such a catch !

  62. Link to Vegas
