  1. wow. news. Thanks Noway. Wish we knew what the motions were all about, even if it’s boring. Do you think Brattsky will be jumping on “hearsay” admissibility straight away? Move the trial? Special prosecutor? Perhaps he’s after all the internal memos again.

  2. I can only take credit for reading that on another board and posting it on one where Facs saw it. LOL 😉

I’ve no idea what the motions are that are mentioned.

  3. As far as trying to get the bond lowered, if you go by what Brodsky said, it’s his claim that they would try to get the bond lowered as the weakness of the State’s case was uncovered in these weeks leading up to the trial. Whatever that means.

With today’s news that Brodsky’s taken on the defense of at least one of the men accused of shooting and killing Chicago Police Officer Alex Valadez, I have to think that his client, Peterson, doesn’t have much for him to work on. Can’t squeeze blood out of a turnip, heh? Can’t investigate and question defense witnesses when there’s none to be found.

What better way to spend his time then to get himself on tv once again, defending a man who confessed to being involved in the killing of a police officer. Ah, but he’s telling us we don’t know all the facts yet. Yeah, like we should listen to anything he says.

    Wow.

  4. Maybe Drew’s other lawyers are doing the lawyer-stuff and Brodsky is in charge of entertaining the client?

  5. I couldn’t understand the dates. Do the numbers in bold represent the dates, as in June 24?

When does the actual trial start?

  6. We are all patiently and eargerly awaiting Drew Peterson’s appearance in court!

  7. I am for sending a secret-agent-fly to the court to bring some news for us.LOL

I am really curious if Brodsky filled for the change of the place for the trial and if he asked for the change of the prosecutor.

Do you have any idea if any ‘audience’ is allowed in the court or the gag order means a ban for the family and the press?

  8. I don’t recall the judge saying anything about banning audience members from the courtroom, but I don’t know how the ban applies to citizens being there and blogging about their experience.

  9. The judge and prosecution want to keep witnesses unidentified and JB and DP to keep their mouths shut, but that’s not the same thing as reporting restrictions, is it? It doesn’t seem like it should be banned if they’re just reporting what happens in court. (I think it would be fair, lol)Anything regarding the children would probably be off limits, too.

  10. Just my 2 cents again…I think the defense and prosecution are not allowed to speak to the media…However, once a trial is under way I believe the press is admitted in the courtroom free to report the courts day of business.
    Just in IL no cameras.

  11. …Besides a courtroom artist captures the overall mood of the people/Attorneys/ Defendents day. Much better than video IMO.
Kinda a visual summary of emotions. As a DV survivor and (ahem) Artist I prefer the overall artistic version of the days events
    IMO of course.

  12. Anything regarding the children would probably be off limits, too.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The Judge and Prosecution did not make any ruling regarding the children other than their sealed witness statements etc

Drew himself was the only one to ever deliberately parade his minor children in front of the Media and to use them to his advantage in the Mr. Mom Videos, photo shoots and to publicly have them “clear his name” on t.v.

  13. I am really curious if Brodsky filled for the change of the place for the trial and if he asked for the change of the prosecutor.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I’ve been wondering about Joel Brodsky’s claim for a change in Prosecutor.

Is that a recipocal arrangement as well ??

Can the Prosecuton ask for a change in Defense lawyer ?? – LOL !!

  14. With today’s news that Brodsky’s taken on the defense of at least one of the men accused of shooting and killing Chicago Police Officer Alex Valadez,

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Oh oke, so Joel Brodsky now has some time on his hands to take on some other cases.

Didn’t he say he was going to be the one “driving the bus” in Drew Peterson’s trial ?

6 cardboard boxes,9.400 documents and literally 100’s of potential witnesses later and Joel Brodsky is already out and about doing other stuff !!

Is he that good or does he just not even bother with any preparation ?

  15. I also distinctly remember Joel had a big whine how “unfair” this case was since the Prosecution had all this manpower and funds to investigate and how Joel and his Defense “team” couldn’t match that (!!)

Does this now mean Joel has ample funds and a 100 + Defense Team himself, so he can afford take on other cases or is he just going to wing it as far as DP’s case is concerned (!!)

  16. I am absolutely bewildered that Brodsky has any time to take on a complex case such as the accused cop killer, with Peterson’s speedy trial coming up fast, and the huge amount of evidence the State turned over. I can understand having clients’ cases to follow through on, but taking on a new client such as he has, in the midst of a major, high profile murder case, is just puzzling, to say the least. Maybe he has no more use for Peterson and is abandoning the sinking ship, since Peterson is out-of-sight, out-of-mind now. I guess if Brodsky can’t do the news at 10:00 about Peterson, he is doing it with someone else these days. Hmmmm.

    Who knows.

  17. This doesn’t have anything to do with this week’s court dates, but did they ever ID the boy/man’s remains that were found?

  18. Not as of Monday, Tink.

Now Illinois State Police Lieutenant Luis Gutierrez says forensic anthropologists in Indiana have been enlisted to help identify the remains.

“We requested the assistance of the anthropologist to be able to help identify who this individual is. What that will help us determine is the height, the weight, the race of this individual, so we can put that information out to the public to assist us in identifying him.”

  19. Me, too. lol. I ignored him, but it’s very kind of you to post 🙂

I’ve been taking up a bit of the slack by following what’s going on with Amanda Knox’ trial in Perugia and I’ve learned a little bit about the Italian justice system. There would be disadvantages and advantages to Droops trial moving there:

A civil case runs concurrent as part of the criminal trial. This means it’s all over and done and it gives the family rights to be represented in court, including cross examination of witnesses whose testimony is related to the civil case, and lets them see all of the evidence. That’s a good thing.

On the other hand, the passionate yet pragmatic Italians do not require the accused to swear an oath to tell the truth. (witnesses are). This protects them from charges of perjury while they say whatever they think they have to say to defend themselves. They also more or less expect a guilty party to lie. That means the jury simply decide themselves if the defendant is being truthful.

What would be even worse for the trial of someone like Drew is their very liberal practice of allowing the accused to stop proceedings at any point to address the court themselves to answer what has just happened/been said.

It appears to be not the done thing to abuse this because it will just piss off your judge and jury, but Drew? Drew? How could he resist?

  20. On the other hand, the passionate yet pragmatic Italians do not require the accused to swear an oath to tell the truth. I rather like that.

  21. …and something else cool about the Italian system is that on top of judges writing detailed judgments explaining their decisions, so do juries. That is like the final touch of the seeing of justice done. They must describe what and how they were persuaded one way or the other.

  22. I think old boobsky has the time to take on another case because he honestly believes he can just go into trial unprepared and still win. What a joke! It really sucks because peterson will then have grounds for an appeal based on ineffective counsel. I am wondering what the strategy is. Surely peterson is not THAT stupid that he thinks boobsky is a decent attorney??!!

  23. Hi everyone,

I don’t leave comments very often, but I’m here every day. I have been following the case since it hit the headlines when Stacy’s been missing.

I am SO HAPPY dp is in jail, I finally can say there is HOPE for JUSTICE !

You guys are wonderful in focussing on the case !

I am from Canada, AND the case has had a tremendous effect on my vision of JUSTICE. We see here, every other day, a kind of abuse in the same way.

Way to Go, for JUSTICE, and I pray civilisation will follow the example.

Thank you for all your efforts in this matter.

  24. Oh, I just saw the map locator down on the bottom of this page. My little green mark in Australia looks so lonely LOL

  25. On the court docket it says return date. What is that?
If no motions were filed, what do they do on a return date?

    Thanks in advance

  26. Not sure if anyone is reading Peterson news right now (as TMZ and L.A. Times are reporting Michael Jackson has died) but Hosey was in court today and reports he is working on a story.
