Drew Peterson defense team starts blog

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 28: That was fast. The blog that is the subject of this post is no longer there.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just noticed that a site which formerly contained links to Drew Peterson’s defense documents (and is still entitled: Drew Peterson Documents) has now morphed into a blog with updates about the Peterson case.
Members of the Peterson’s defense team already send out frequent press releases, update the Abood Law and Brodsky & Odeh web sites with news and legal briefs, and Joel Brodsky continues to grant radio interviews even though Judge Stephen White has asked to preapprove all media appearances by all attorneys involved in the case.
The judge issued specific guidelines to Peterson’s attorneys on pre-trial publicity and media interviews, asking that the lawyers inform the judge of any pre-arranged media interviews and supply him with copies of any press releases sent out on the case.
defend-drew-cap Why does the defense continue to court the public even after filing a motion for a change of venue which complains that “media overexposure” has made it impossible for their client to obtain a fair trial of his peers?
Should we be expecting a return of the Drew Peterson Defense Fund website, where “For the cost of a few cups of your morning coffee, you (could) help to ensure that Drew can afford to support his ongoing legal defense” and “find his missing wife”?
  1. Great post, facs!
    Wouldn’t you think they’d be just a wee bit concerned about eeking out publicity after Judge White said to cool it? I’ll never get this defense. It’s as though they don’t give a rat’s ass what the rules are. They interpret them as they feel like it. Or make up their own, I guess.
    Whatever.
  2. Just checked the Will County Court Schedule and no dates for Mike Robinson’s “08CF000098” case (the battery and intimidation charges). So…what, if anything happened on Friday (the last date the trial was pushed to)?
  3. Wow … I think the life of the blog was shorter than the life of his website, wasn’t it? I don’t remember how long that website lasted.
    I had seen that Mike R.’s docket info went poof too. AGAIN
  4. Blah, blah, blah!
    Blago’s and Peterson’s PR Man in the Spotlight
    Glenn Selig manages crises, one headline at a time
    AP
    Kicked out of public office? Suspected of killing your wife? Call Glenn Selig.
    A Florida-based publicist, Selig’s a big name in Chicago these days — he’s the PR man helping former Gov. Rod Blagojevich and former Bolingbrook police officer Drew Peterson make their cases.
    And just like Blago and Peterson, Selig seems to relish the spotlight.
    “I got into crisis management because I always want to be part of the big news story,” said Selig to Chicago Magazine.
    And because he was fired from his investigative reporter job at a Miami Fox affiliate two years ago. There’s that too.
    Labeled a “sleazy PR guy” by the mustachioed Prince of Sleazery himself (Geraldo!), Selig’s most recently used his charms and connections to get Blago’s book, “The Governor,” promoted on every major channel across the country.
    Blago’s lawyer, Sam Adam Jr., first contacted Selig’s “The Publicity Agency” after the ex-governor was arrested on charges of allegedly trying to sell President Barack Obama’s Senate seat.
    Selig was contacted by Peterson’s attorney, Joel Brodsky, at the end of 2007, and the publicist was able to get the ex-cop on Larry King Live.
    Peterson will be back in the news on Oct. 2, when a Will County judge will rule on whether his trial should be held in Joliet.
    Peterson is currently being held in custody on $20 million bail after pleading not guilty to charges that he killed his ex-wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004.
  6. I was going to do a whole Mike Robinson post but…meh. I’ll just share with you the facebook “fan page” for his attorney Steven R. Roach:
    General Information:
    I am an Attorney who represents clients facing issues in the fields of CRIMINAL & ENTERTAINMENT LAW. As a former Chicago, Cook County, criminal prosecutor, I have the edge necessary to successfully advocate, defend, and protect the interests of my clients charged with everything from Dui and Drugs to Murder. My clients benefit greatly from my extensive experience in this field. Having successfully tried my first Class X felony at the age of 23, I have spent the last 10 1/2 years building a tremendous record of protecting the lives and futures of my clients.
    On the ENTERTAINMENT side of things, although I assist clients facing issues in all areas of the entertainment business, my primary focus is MUSIC and MODELS. A large number of my clients are artists involved in the Rock (all forms), Rap, Hip-Hop, and R&B genres. I assist these clients with a variety of matters, including, but not limited to, negotiating recording contracts, management contracts, production agreements, solicitation agreements, licensing, corporate development and career strategy formulation. Prior to entering the practice of law, I spent a number of years as a musician tearing up the Chicago music scene. As a musician, I have had first hand experience with many of the issues my clients are currently facing, which gives me an understanding of how their decisions will effect both their personal and professional lives, and I am therefore able to counsel them accordingly.
  7. Oh Yuck. Tearing up the Chicago music scene, for crying out loud! Another spotlight hog. You know what this means… ( and yeah, don’t we all check a lawyer’s street/club credentials first!)
    So. Long term, has Robinson got his eye on music or modeling? LOL
  8. I most definitely think we’ll see a return of Dollars for Drew’s Defense, but perhaps with a new spin. Maybe they’ll release a site which requires one to purchase a subscription.
    Boy you were fast at picking up on that blog, facs! Jimmy John fast! : – D
    Great reporting!
  9. The lawyers are all expecting this case to draw national media coverage when the trial finally begins. So what better way to get yourself in position to compete for those small guest spot panels for Fox, CNN, Nancy Grace, etc. then to pick up one of the “characters” connected to Drew? The dance line just keeps growing!
  10. From Dr Dan’s prescription for Sobriety Week:
    Pay attention to major media stories that have reported significant family turmoil and destruction that involve significant alcohol, medication, drug and sex abuse like Mackenzie and john Phillips, Michael Jackson, and Drew Peterson significant others and extended family members. Even average People can become ‘substance sociopaths’ when alcohol and drugs surround them or their families. Usually, the root cause of family destruction is Drugs and alcohol,” concludes Dr. Dan.
    What is he trying to say here?
  11. Yeah, Bucket, I agree — what is he trying to say? I suppose, if we re-read that paragraph a few times, we’re to come up with the idea that these misfits he’s mentioned, all of them, became “substance sociopaths” themselves due to being surrounded by family members caught up in alcohol and drugs, which passed down to them?
    Blame everyone else and explain it away as being the root cause of the destruction of the family. In these cases, it trickled down to McKenzie Phillips, Michael Jackson and Drew Peterson?
    If that is what he is saying, what is he doing in Wisconsin, then, away from Peterson’s children? Aren’t they the ones that need to be saved from this chaos? It’s too late for Drew, it’s the children that need help? Hmmm?
  12. Yes, it was different from what you see now at either of the links DD posted. There was a Google Blogster blog being hosted at the drewpetersondocuments.com domain, instead of the usual list of documents. By Monday morning the blog was gone and the list of docs was back.
    I did have time to leave one comment on their first post and it was asking if Judge White had OK’d the defense starting up a blog to communicate directly with the public. The blog came down before I could see if anyone ever replied.
  13. On Roman Polanski’s arrest:
    COOPER: Joel, why do you think this happened now? I mean, this has been more than 30 years. And he had a house in Switzerland. It’s not like it’s the first time he went there.
    BRODSKY: Yes, there is something political, obviously, behind this.
    The reason why, I don’t know. L.A. politics is a world unto itself. I have enough problems dealing with the Chicago politics. But there is something not kosher in the timing here. There is some reason that this took place that is not — has nothing to do with justice and has something to do with politics.
    COOPER: You think that is true, Jeff?
    TOOBIN: Well, I think what is not kosher is drugging and having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
  14. Heh. So, now he’s a legal commentator. Alongside Lisa Bloom, no less. Isn’t that special.
    This Brodsky represents a few of the lowest of the low, who think nothing of decisions to end someone’s life. He didn’t show any concern for the baby his client is accused of murdering (Nour Hadid). Only that she was forced to remove her headscarf for her mug photo. “Lawyers for woman accused of killing baby cries foul.”
    No mercy does he have for the family. friends and co-workers of Officer Alejandro Valdez, who his client, Shawn Gaston, is accused of murdering. “Gaston admitted he fired shots at the officer and Walker admitted to driving the vehicle involved in the drive-by shooting, police said.” (The judge in the case has been criticized for releasing Gaston on probation, instead of jail time, for a prior charge of gun possession.) “The position that people are taking, that somehow if the judge had sentenced him to jail that the officer would be alive today, is a fallacy because that assumes Mr. Gaston’s guilt,” said Joel Brodsky, defense attorney.
    Now we have a sick putz who’s finally going to be scooped up for drugging and raping a 13 year old, and he says it’s not “kosher.”
    Drew Peterson – we won’t go over that mess again.
    Having to read Brodsky’s analysis of Polanski’s case, along with these others, is precious minutes I’ll never get back. Argh.
  15. I have just read about Brodsky’s comment and I can’t stop laughing.
    After I read an article about Polansky in the morning paper today and though “Come on, Roman (Polanky)! Nobody is able to defend you? Call Joel! “. LOL
  16. I’m starting to gain a very new and different perspective on televised media after seeing Dr. Phil call Armstrong’s book “excellent” and folks turning to Joel as some sort of legal “expert”. You’d think having the ability to speak with out picking and fidgeting would be of some importance but…
  17. Drew is a devil and he must have possessed Dr. Phil. We must call Ernie! LOL
    But seriously,I would not worry too much about Dr.Phil’s opinion, Facs.
    Media people are often very shallow. They do not know many details that we do, and are too busy with making money. Some simply have too much on their heads. They confuse the names, the facts and often take interpretation for granted.
  18. Re Dr Dan – He is finishing the first volume of what may be the first never ending book “Analyzing Monsters” – “Family Cures”. The book includes his role in the Drew Peterson Case and others.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Didn’t Dr. Dan repeatedly state Drew is a lovely family man and his children are happy and well balanced children, being expertly cared for by Drew, so why would Drew be included in a book called “Analyzing Monsters – “Family Cures” if he’s so wonderful ?
  19. justanotherhen :
    Maybe he’ll take credit for “curing” him?
  20. Maybe someone should remind Joel Brodsky that Roman Polansky was on the run from the law by living in Countries where he could not be extradited.
    Roman Polansky – in essence – was a criminal on the run – Nothing to to with politics!
  21. Ha. Dr. Dan, Glenn Selig, Derek Armstrong, Joel Brodsky. What a joke. Drew’s stewing in jail, and they’re all profiting from his alleged crimes. Go figure.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    meanwhile Drew doesn’t mind sitting in jail, he’s a patient man, he knows things take time and people don’t jump (!!)
  22. facsmiley :Yes, it was different from what you see now at either of the links DD posted. There was a Google Blogster blog being hosted at the drewpetersondocuments.com domain, instead of the usual list of documents. By Monday morning the blog was gone and the list of docs was back.
    Facs- I guess they did reply to your one post. Actions speak louder than words. LOL Isn’t it refreshing to know your opinion matters? LOL
  23. noway406 :
    docsdaughter :Is it different then these links?http://www.aboodlaw.com/news.htmhttp://drewpetersondocuments.com/
    Abood’s site is much fancier than Brodsky/Odeh’s. I guess this is a work in progress since there is nothing in their archives. Yet.
    Noway- I thought exactly the same thing. Aboods are spending some bucks on the animation and design of their website. They are not done with it yet, but I imagine they are expecting some major traffic once the trial begins.
  24. rescueapet :Not kosher, foul, fallacy.
    Doesn’t that just rock your world, reading Brodsky’s choice of words? Inspiring, isn’t it?
    JB’s guest spots will be short livced. He’s most likely only on there now because someone struck a deal with him. The guy just isn’t very good speaking without scripted material. Does he ever really look back at what’s flowing out of his mouth?
  25. When I listened to Joel on the recent Scared Monkeys interview, I thought I heard him mention he had not been to see Drew since the previous week. That’s quite a shift in the amount of personal attention Drew is receiving from his main lawyer. It would have to seem even longer to the person sitting in the jail cell. Perhaps Joel’s just trying to cut some of the legal fees down for Drew. Or,maybe Drew has found someone else to play cards with. Never mind, I believe DP now has to play Solitaire.
  26. RE: Mike Robinson
