Search for Stacy Peterson at Hammel Woods was planned last Spring

It’s being reported that the Shorewood search for the remains of Stacy Peterson was planned months ago and originally scheduled for the first week of September, but postponed when it coincided with the trial of Drew Peterson for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.

The search of Hammel Woods is being conducted with the help of three specially trained cadaver dogs who have been brought over from the UK in an attempt to locate Stacy Peterson’s remains.

The FBI and ISP investigators are expected to wrap up the search today.

  1. Joe Lopez is wrong ….he may think it’s a wild goose chase…but it’s a step in the right direction…they know something….it’s keeping her investigation in everyone’s face…

  2. They wouldn’t go through the expense of having a team and 3 dogs from the U.K. unless they felt confident there was going to be a hit. Even if the expense was minimal because it’s a “training exercise,” nobody is going to want to fly very expensive dogs across the pond only to come up empty handed.

They’ve got to believe there is a good shot at finding Stacey with this team.

    Lifting prayers for all concerned…..

  3. I agree Altgran and Anna. Lopez and Greenberg can “pooh pooh” the search, but one as organized as this isn’t a wild goose chase or just a training exercise. And I’m sure as heck thankful they’re trying.

  4. November 9, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) — The search for Stacy Peterson in Hammel Woods Forest Preserve has concluded, the FBI and Illinois State Police said Friday afternoon.

Nothing was found during the week-long search in suburban Shorewood, officials said.

Stacy Peterson, the fourth wife of Drew Peterson, has been missing since October 2007. Drew Peterson was convicted for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in September.

The search was not the result of a new lead but part of the ongoing investigation into the Peterson case, law enforcement officials confirmed.

“The Illinois State Police’s top priority is to preserve the integrity of an investigation and any comments or details released during the investigative process could potentially compromise our efforts,” Commander Michael Cooke said in a press release.

The investigation into Peterson’s disappearance will continue, officials said.
