Until the trial of Drew Peterson nears, we continue to take advantage of the lull. Of course, if there’s any information that comes our way, we’ll be sure to post it.

In the meantime, we’d like to pass along information about a BlogTalkRadio program that will be broadcast this evening, hosted by Susan Murphy Milano.

She will have Joe Hosey, Neil Schori and Steph Watts as guests.

In addition, Susan now has a book available, Time’s Up – How you can escape a violent relationship and get out with your life.

Date: Monday April 12, 2010

Time: 8PM EST/ 7PM Central / 5PM PST

  2. I posted all the current scheduled court cases to show the total picture of cases pending in DP’s life.

It is interesting that no attorneys are shown to represent DP in the Savio Probate case; JB is only scheduled to represent DP in the Savio wrongful death suit, and GEORGE DEAN LENARD is shown to represent him in the Kathleen Savio murder trial.

Attorney Martin Glink has not yet replaced LAWRENCE VARSEK on the court schedule.

  3. Susan Murphy Milano’s Special Hour was very touching. Susan and her guests Joe Hosey, Neil Schori and Steph Watts are to be commended for all their efforts in the Savio and Peterson cases as well as for educating and helping women in abusive relationships.

  4. What I heard that was very interesting on the Susan Milano broadcast is that Joe Hosey feels they have a better case with Stacy than Kathleen because the investigation was so botched and no evidence gathered at the time of Kathleen’s death. Hopefully they have something that can place Drew at the crime scene. If they have those phone records of Stacy calling around for him that weekend then I feel their case becomes that much stronger as far as proving opportunity. They definitely have motive(money) and I believe they can show the means(the way the victim was murdered, by the position of the body being in a police armlock possibly).

  5. There were a few interesting points relating to the Peterson saga that were brought up.

Watts is taking credit for opening up the gates of information relating to Kathleen’s death. I’m not so sure I want to buy into his beliefs that he and Fuhrman are behind all of these present day revelations.

I knew that Joe Hosey covered Kathleen’s death at the time, and was familiar with the circumstances of her death. He attended Kathleen’s death inquest. What I didn’t realize is that he did try to talk to Kathleen’s family members at the inquest. He attributes their hesitation to being overwhelmed at the time. Certainly, having a suitcase of papers that detailed Kathleen’s fear of Peterson, but not being able to get anyone in LE to believe Kathleen’s fears, was a bit much for them to comprehend, so, of course, they’d be a little nervous about talking to a reporter. So when Stacy disappeared, even though Peterson never imagined that it would bring so much attention on him, it was not a leap to put the two womens’ fates together to form a question of what happened to either of them.

Unfortunately, it took Stacy’s disappearance for someone to start listening to the Savio family, and realize that there was more to Kathleen’s death and Stacy’s disappearance than just bad luck. The Savios realized they finally could get the ears of someone to hear them out, but it took Stacy’s disappearance for it to happen.

Fuhrman did publicly announce the fact that he was able to determine no phone records were ever subpoenaed in relation to calls made during crucial time periods tied-in to Kathleen’s death. Of course, it was just one of many “oversights” related to the investigation, most of which have been uncovered. Whether it was cover-up, lack of caring or just plain incompetence, I guess, will have to be addressed in order to give the jury the necessary background they need to judge Peterson. In any event, Peterson is locked away in a cell, yet, the world hasn’t ended, not even in Bolingbrook, so why he was allowed to live a life of freedom those years between Kathleen’s death and Stacy’s disappearance is still a mystery. At the very least, he should have been investigated, but wasn’t. Because of the bungling of the original death scene, it is a monumental task to possibly get a conviction for Kathleen’s death. However, as was discussed in this program, there is overwhelming evidence in Stacy’s disappearance that may just be the undoing of Peterson.

Another interesting thing that Watts brought up was Vicki Connelly, and her being involved in a serious car accident. This information isn’t new, but he claims he has spoken to her in the past, and she is still, til this day, “afraid” of Peterson because of the “things” they were involved in. Hmmm. Common sense would tell you that if she’s afraid of him because of dirty little secrets they shared, it wasn’t about things like accepting free tickets to baseball games.

Watts said that on the night of Vicki’s accident, she had been working at the bar she and Peterson owned. I believe Watts related, on that night, Peterson told her she could leave, that he’d close-up. That was something he never did before – it was out of the ordinary. After she left, she was involved in a serious car accident, and Watts claims that Peterson was one of the first to arrive on the scene, as he was in the case of Kathleen. Coincidence? “Rumor” has it that there was something wrong with her brakes, although this wasn’t mentioned on the radio broadcast and it has never been officially mentioned in the public.

Even though Peterson had started a new life with Stacy and was no longer with Kathleen, he still was in the grips of a financial meltdown and, as the State is going to try and prove, killed her for money. On the way to doing that, secrets and events have come out, and there may be some still to come. Who knows.

One thing is for sure, Peterson had complicated relationships with many of the people in his life. It seems to me that when these relationships got overcomplicated by his standards, unfortunate things happened. JMO, of course.

Human remains found at Herrick Lake

A Wheaton man gathering mushrooms Tuesday in a DuPage County Forest Preserve stumbled upon human skeletal remains in “a scene straight out of C.S.I.”

Jerry Moretti of Wheaton was walking through the Herrick Lake Forest Preserve off Butterfield Road near Wheaton hoping to get an early start on the hunt for morels – a hard-to-find but popular delicacy – when he noticed some shoes and clothes about 20 to 30 yards into the wooded area.

“The first thing that caught my eye was a pair of shoes and a shirt, and I thought, ‘Well, someone’s having fun out here,’ then I saw the skull and immediately noticed the teeth and said that’s a human skull – there’s no way that’s some kind of animal,” he said.

Moretti called 911, who patched him through to forest preserve police, who confirmed that the remains are human.

Hours after the discovery, deputies with the sheriff’s forensic unit continued meticulously combing for clues inside the forest preserve.

“It was apparent that it was there a very long time; the skull was completely bleached white, no matter, nothing on it, so it’s been out there a very long time,” Moretti said. “I found out from talking to deputies after that they did find the remainder of the remains scattered around the area as well.”

After the initial crime-scene investigation is complete, the bones will be taken Wednesday to the coroner’s office in an attempt to learn an identity. Authorities confirmed that the skeletal remains are severely decomposed and absent human tissue.

“There’s not a whole lot to go on at this point,” Coroner Pete Siekmann said. “The remains will be examined, X-rayed, and we’ll have a forensic dentist look at the teeth and go from there.”

Although some weathered clothing was recovered, the scene revealed few obvious clues about the person’s gender, identity or how he or she died, officials said.

DuPage State’s Attorney Joseph Birkett said it may take days before more is known.

There are unsolved reports of local missing persons but, Birkett said, it’s not uncommon if foul play was involved for a body to be dumped far from where the crime occurred.

“You treat it as a crime scene until proven otherwise,” Birkett said.

Stephanie McNeil, the sister of John Michael Spira, a St. Charles man who was last seen in February 2007, believes his disappearance is a homicide case and is hopeful that the remains found Tuesday are her brother’s.

“Just learned someone found a body in DuPage County, Lake Herrick Forest Preserve.

That was one we hadn’t searched and it’s not far from John’s office. I’m hoping so much that it’s my brother this time and we can move onto the justice phase of this whole nightmare,” she wrote in a post on johnspira.com Tuesday night.
